Raiders | Latavius Murray ready to prove himself

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 19:19:55 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray said he understands how important it is for him to perform well in 2015. "I know the success I've had doesn't matter," Murray said Friday, July 31. "What matters now is what I [do going] forward and what I do this upcoming season, this upcoming training camp. Again, do anything I can just to get better and help the team."

Fantasy Tip: While Murray is an unproven option, he was impressive when his role expanded late last season. With the No. 1 running back job his to lose in 2015, Murray should make a solid RB2.

Raiders | OL coach impressed with Latavius Murray

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 10:25:02 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray performed well during the mandatory minicamp this offseason, according to offensive line coach Mike Tice. Tice said Murray showed good speed and finish during practices.

Fantasy Tip: The Raiders could use a committee at running back this season, but Murray should see a majority of the carries. He posted a solid 5.2 yards per carries in 2014 and added two touchdowns. Murray could be a middle-round option in drafts and could be a No. 2 running back in deeper leagues.

Raiders | Latavius Murray praised by teammate

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 17:26:20 -0700

Oakland Raiders FB Marcel Reece said he doesn't expect a drop off in chemistry as RB Latavius Murray replaces RB Darren McFadden this season because Murray has spent the last couple of years watching film and talking football with Reece.

Fantasy Tip: Murray should open the year as the primary back, and while he has never been a No. 1 back for an entire year, he has shown enough potential to be selected as a mid-range RB2.

Raiders | Latavius Murray expects big season

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 13:24:26 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray has the opportunity to be the team's No. 1 running back in 2015, and it's one he embraces. "It's a great feeling, but every day I have to go in there knowing I need to get better every day," Murray explained. "I need to play like it's a new year. Last season is just last season and the year before that it was the year before that. Every season is a new year for me and it's a year I have to go out and prove something."

Fantasy Tip: It seems a certainty that Murray will win the No. 1 job away from free-agent addition Trent Richardson. Murray should be considered as an RB2 with plenty of upside.

Raiders | Latavius Murray favorite to start

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 14:41:46 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is currently the frontrunner for the starting running back position, according to head coach Jack Del Rio. Del Rio said Murray needs to improve his football intelligence and his versatility.

Fantasy Tip: It shouldn't be a surprise that Murray is considered Oakland's starting running back. He has the most talent between himself, Roy Helu and Trent Richardson, and showed what he's capable of in limited playing time last year. Assuming Murray holds on to the starting job and stays healthy, he's a RB2 candidate.

Raiders | Latavius Murray could have big year

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 22:08:37 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray could be in line for a big season under new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, according to a team source. "(Murray) has a chance at a huge year in this system - because he is smart, physically a freak," the source said.

Fantasy Tip: Murray will be one to watch during training camp and the preseason. He could emerge as a bona fide No. 1 tailback in Oakland, so fantasy owners will want to watch the battle between Murray, Roy Helu and Trent Richardson for carries.

Raiders | Latavius Murray primed for big year?

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 14:39:33 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray could be ready for a breakout season in 2015, according to a team source. The anonymous source said Murray has the intelligence and physique to have a huge year in his third season with the club.

Fantasy Tip: Despite Roy Helu and Trent Richardson being brought in, the starting running back job is Murray's to lose. He averaged 5.2 yards on 82 carries last year, and if he's able to play a full season as starter, he could end up in RB2 territory.

Raiders | Latavius Murray excited for new season

Tue, 19 May 2015 10:56:13 -0700

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is looking forward to being the Raiders' starting running back in 2015. "It's a great feeling, but every day I have to go in there knowing I need to get better every day," Murray said. "Every season is a new year for me and it's a year I have to go out and prove something."

Fantasy Tip: Murray will be competing with Roy Helu and Trent Richardson, primarily, for the starting position, but Murray is the favorite with Darren McFadden now in Dallas, especially after running for 424 yards in just three starts last season. If/when he does start, he'll be in RB2 territory.

Raiders | Latavius Murray to compete to start

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 22:54:09 -0700

Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio said Tuesday, March 24, that he expects RB Latavius Murray and RB Trent Richardson to compete for the starting tailback job. "I think it will be a competitive situation," Del Rio said.

Fantasy Tip: Murray has just 82 career carries and two touchdowns, but he might be the player with more upside over the disappointing Richardson. It will be a situation worth monitoring in training camp and the preseason. The winner will be worthy of a spot as a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy play, while the loser of the battle will be nothing more than an RB3 kept around for fantasy depth.

Raiders | Latavius Murray has chance to start

Fri, 13 Feb 2015 15:20:25 -0800

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray has shown the traits to be a candidate for the starting running back job next season, according to head coach Jack Del Rio. "I think he has shown enough of the traits to make him a candidate to be that guy," Del Rio said. "I don't know that he's earned that yet. He's shown that there is potential there. He's done enough things to pique your interest. He's got size and speed. He can go. There are some things that we will need to work to improve, such as overall awareness and football IQ." Del Rio said the offensive line can do a better job opening more holes for Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Murray received a lot of carries near the end of the season and looks to be in line for the starting job next season. Murray has the chance to be a workhorse for the Raiders and could be a No. 2 running back for owners next season.
