Fri, 01 Aug 2014 17:02:34 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim P Michael Roth, recalled from Double-A Arkansas Friday, Aug. 1, will be counted upon to prove length out of the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Roth might grab a couple of innings here or there, but he is not someone fantasy owners want to rely upon at this point.

Angels | Tommy Hanson to DL

Thu, 27 Jun 2013 10:17:49 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tommy Hanson (forearm) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm. The Angels have recalled P Michael Roth from Double-A Arkansas to take Hanson's place on the roster.

Fantasy Tip: Hanson just isn't going to carry mixed-league value this year, if ever again. It seems like he's going to need to make some major changes in order to stay healthy and adapt pitching-wise to whatever it is that allows him to remain that way. Mixed leaguers shouldn't feel compelled to keep him around. Roth has posted a 3.61 ERA in 10 games (eight starts) for the Travelers but is probably going to fill in as a reliever for now. Jerome Williams should stick in the rotation and may still be of use in AL-only leagues, and Garrett Richards seems like a decent bet to move into the rotation and would be worth monitoring in those formats.
