Marlins | Three Miami starters sitting out

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 12:45:06 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto, OF Marcell Ozuna and 2B Derek Dietrich are not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff Tuesday, July 26. OF Ichiro Suzuki will start in center field and is batting first. C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting seventh, while 2B Miguel Rojas will start at second base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Suzuki has only two hits in his last eight games but is still hitting .335 this season, which makes him a decent option in daily fantasy leagues. Rojas and Mathis should not be starting options outside NL-only leagues.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto dropped in the lineup

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 08:32:16 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is batting sixth against New York Mets SP Steven Matz Sunday, July 24.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto usually leads off for Miami, which helps makes him a solid starting option behind the plate in all fantasy formats. For the campaign, he sits with an impressive .312 batting average, 37 runs and 10 stolen bases. Dropping in the order should just improve his RBI chances while slightly limiting his opportunities to score runs.

Marlins | Night off for J.T. Realmuto

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 12:24:47 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 21. C Jeff Mathis is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto is having a strong fantasy season with 36 runs, five home runs, 26 RBI, 10 stolen bases and a .315/.349/.416 slash line. He's a worthy starting catcher in all fantasy formats going forward. Mathis owns a career .558 OPS and is nothing more than a desperation fantasy option.

Marlins | Three sitting out for Miami

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 10:03:12 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto, OF Marcell Ozuna and 1B Chris Johnson are not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha Sunday, July 17. OF Ichiro Suzuki will start in center field and is batting first. INF Don Kelly will start at first base and is batting sixth. C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Ichiro has not received many starts over the last few weeks but does have a terrific .337 batting average this season. He should have some value in daily fantasy leagues. Kelly and Mathis can be avoided in all fantasy leagues.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto hitting leadoff

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 11:34:10 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is hitting leadoff against Cincinnati Reds SP Dan Straily Friday, July 8. 2B Derek Dietrich drops down to sixth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto has been fantastic for fantasy owners with his .320/.351/.434 slash line on the season. He's been fortunate with a high batting average on balls in play, though, so expect regression in the second half. Still, he's a high-level fantasy starter in all formats.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto in two-hole

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 09:16:58 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is hitting second against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom Wednesday, July 6.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto doesn't have a ton of power, but he's been one of the more reliable hitting catchers in baseball this year with a .325/.356/.440 slash line in 268 at-bats. Hitting in the two-hole raises his daily value, and although the matchup is a tough one, you can't go wrong with him in your lineup the way he's been swinging of late.

Marlins | Derek Dietrich, J.T. Realmuto out

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 13:48:07 -0700

Miami Marlins 2B Derek Dietrich and C J.T. Realmuto are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 5. 2B Miguel Rojas is at second base and is batting seventh, while C Jeff Mathis is behind the plate and hitting eighth against New York Mets SP Steven Matz. Also, SS Adeiny Hechavarria moves up to the leadoff spot.

Fantasy Tip: Rojas and Mathis are both very light hitters and are desperation picks as deep sleepers in DFS. Hechavarria is hot lately with 10 hits in his last 26 at-bats (.385) with three RBI since June 28. He sees a boost in his daily value while hitting leadoff, but he's unlikely to fill the stat sheet as a midrange shortstop option.

Fantasy Tip: He hasn't shown a lot of power, but his average is up to .325. He is worth owning in all mixed leagues.

Marlins | Top of the lineup comes through for MIA

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 05:22:26 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto, 3B Martin Prado and OF Christian Yelich each had three hits in a 5-2 win over the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: All three players have averages over .300 and slugging marks over .400, and Realmuto in particular is on a hot streak. He was moved to the top of the order for this game, and don't be surprised if you see that more often while his bat is hot.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto batting leadoff

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 14:22:30 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is batting leadoff Sunday, July 3, against the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: With a .309-4-23 line and eight hits in his last five games, manager Don Mattingly wants to give Realmuto a chance to spark the lineup at the top. You should play Realmuto in daily leagues, and he should already be activated in other formats.
