Marlins | J.T. Realmuto not in Sunday's lineup

Sun, 22 May 2016 08:33:47 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is receiving the day off against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Sunday, May 22. C Jeff Mathis will bat eighth and start behind the plate.

Fantasy Tip: With a .161 average in 31 at-bats this season, Mathis is not a recommended fantasy option regardless of who is on the mound. Look elsewhere for inexpensive catching options this afternoon.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto not in Tuesday lineup

Tue, 17 May 2016 12:58:15 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 17, against the Philadelphia Phillies. C Jeff Mathis will bat eighth against Phillies SP Vincent Velasquez.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Realmuto is on a tear at the plate over the last week (.364 average), the team apparently wants to give him a night off for rest. Mathis is 5-for-28 (.179) and carries no fantasy value, so go elsewhere if you want to look for a catcher.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto leading off vs. Nats

Fri, 13 May 2016 13:30:55 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is leading off against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Friday, May 13. 2B Derek Dietrich is not in the starting lineup, and SS Miguel Rojas is starting at second base and batting eighth Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto is off to a solid start with a .302 batting average, 12 runs and 11 RBI for the season. Hitting atop the lineup is a nice boost for his fantasy value Friday, and he is a viable option in daily contests. Dietrich will likely continue to hit leadoff when facing a right-handed pitcher, and he is a potential add in deep mixed leagues. Rojas is a fantasy afterthought.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto takes a seat

Wed, 11 May 2016 11:26:17 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 11. C Jeff Mathis is doing the catching and is hitting eighth against Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: Mathis has a mere three hits (one double) in 21 at-bats this year for a .143 average. The veteran backup catcher has a career .193 average in 12 MLB seasons, so nobody should be looking to start him in any fantasy format tonight.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto has homer wiped out

Mon, 09 May 2016 23:41:40 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto hit a home run Monday, May 9, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He hit one off of the home run sculpture in center field, and OF Marcell Ozuna misjudged the fly and went back to first base. Realmuto passed him on the base paths and manager Craig Counsell of the Brewers challenged the play, wiping out the homer.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto went 1-for-4 with an RBI, but the day could have been better if not for Ozuna. Realmuto is still hitting .304 with 10 RBIs, and he is a solid No. 2 receiver in most fantasy formats.
