Marlins | Three hits for J.T. Realmuto

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 20:10:27 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto went 3-for-4 during the Marlins 5-3 win over the San Francisco Giants Tuesday, June 30.

Fantasy Tip: It was Realmuto's ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) third consecutive multi-hit game, and the 24-year-old backstop is now sporting a respectable .250 batting average. He is a low-end option in NL-only, cavernous mixed and two-catcher formats, and doesn't warrant ownership elsewhere. FantasyScore players should view him as an upside source of cap relief while he is hitting well.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto will not start

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 08:13:50 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Zack Greinke Sunday, June 28. C Jeff Mathis will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should return in the next game or two. Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .185 this season and should be avoided by owners on FantasyScore.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto moved up in order

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 12:24:56 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is hitting second in the batting order against St. Louis Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez Tuesday, June 23. 2B Derek Dietrich was dropped down to fifth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is more attractive as a sleeper catching option on FantasyScore while hitting near the top of the lineup. However, he's still a weak play while facing Martinez, who has been downright dominant for most of the year. Dietrich ($3,100, 6.2% of cap), who has three home runs in 24 at-bats this year, could struggle to return any value even at a cheap price.

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 08:05:49 -0700

Marlins | JT Realmuto returns vs. Reds

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 13:51:56 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto (back) is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake Friday, June 19.

Fantasy Tip: Over his past nine games, Realmuto ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is 13-for-35 (.371 batting average) with four runs, a home run and six RBI. Despite his strong current form, it might be wise to allow him a game or two to prove his health, especially given the rigors of his position. View Realmuto as a risky FantasyScore player Friday.

Marlins | No J.T. Realmuto against Yankees

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 13:45:14 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto (back) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 18. C Jeff Mathis is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is dealing with back stiffness, but it isn't expected to result in a stint on the disabled list. Over his past nine games, he is 13-for-35 (.371 batting average) with four runs, a home run and six RBI. Realmuto should be viewed as a mid-range No. 2 backstop in two-catcher formats. For his career, Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has a .195 batting average, and this season, he is down to .150 with a .390 OPS. FantasyScore players should look elsewhere Thursday.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto not in lineup Saturday

Sat, 13 Jun 2015 12:17:33 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, June 13. Jeff Mathis will start behind the plate and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) hit a three-run homer Friday, June 12, but is receiving the day off Saturday because the team is playing a day game after a night game. Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has never been known for his offense and should be avoided in FantasyScore.

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 10. C Jeff Mathis is starting and hitting seventh against Toronto Blue Jays RP Scott Copeland.

Fantasy Tip: Even against an unproven spot starter like Copeland, Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a very weak play on FantasyScore.

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 12:26:06 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is back in the starting lineup against the Colorado Rockies Sunday, June 7, batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is only batting .230 for the year but he is hitting .297 over the last two weeks. He could be worth a low-cost flier at the catcher position in FantasyScore.

Marlins | J.T. Realmuto not catching Saturday

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 12:22:57 -0700

Miami Marlins C J.T. Realmuto is not in the starting lineup against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, June 6. Jeff Mathis will be behind the plate and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Realmuto ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is getting the afternoon off because the Marlins are playing a day game after a night game. Mathis ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has never been much of an offensive threat and should be ignored in FantasyScore contests.
