Brewers | Keon Broxton optioned to Class AAA

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 06:06:22 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Keon Broxton was optioned to Class AAA Colorado Springs Saturday, April 16. In a corresponding move, SP Zach Davies was recalled from Colorado to start against the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton failed to register a hit through 18 plate appearances, but he did manage to steal two bases, which highlights the fantasy upside accompanying his speed. For now, he is nothing more than a potential stash candidate in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Davies is a risky start in all fantasy formats against Pittsburgh Sunday.

Brewers | Keon Broxton draws a start

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 08:38:46 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Keon Broxton is hitting ninth Thursday, April 14, against left-handed St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton is hitless in 11 at-bats with seven K's to begin the season, which trumps his steals potential. Let's see some progress before using a DFS flyer on him.

Brewers | Ramon Flores starting in center

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 13:26:18 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ramon Flores will start in center field and hit sixth against San Francisco Giants SP Johnny Cueto Tuesday, April 5. OF Keon Broxton takes a seat on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton went hitless in his debut on opening day, but he remains the more attractive fantasy asset in cavernous mixed and NL-only formats. Flores has just 35 career plate appearances with no home runs and a .206 average, so he can be ignored everywhere.

Brewers | Domingo Santana leading off

Mon, 04 Apr 2016 07:52:22 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana is hitting leadoff in the season opener Monday, April 4. OF Keon Broxton is hitting ninth with the pitcher's spot slotted eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Santana isn't your prototypical leadoff hitter, and it really takes away from his potential for DFS purposes. Broxton is a cheap flyer for steals, though.

Brewers | MIL not naming CF starter

Thu, 24 Mar 2016 10:21:00 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis and OF Keon Broxton won't be named a definitive starter in center field as manager Craig Counsell said he doesn't expect to name one player the starter there.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton has some speed upside for NL-only formats. Nieuwenhuis is a depth grab in NL-only.

Brewers | Keon Broxton pushing for center

Sun, 13 Mar 2016 13:14:15 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Keon Broxton is making a push to start in center field, although management says the job is open at this time.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton only had three runs scored in seven games, and he only saw two at-bats in the process. If he gets the job, you may want to make a flyer in the very late rounds for him, if not right at the end of the draft. He may be a sleeper that pays off.

Brewers | Several CF options in Milwaukee

Mon, 15 Feb 2016 21:15:33 -0800

Milwaukee Brewers OFs Keon Broxton, Rymer Liriano, Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Eric Young Jr. are each options for the starting center field job heading into spring training.

Fantasy Tip: It's a big race to watch, and it could end up a platoon situation, too. Nieuwenhuis and Young have the most starting experience, but that doesn't necessarily mean they have a leg up at this juncture.

Brewers | Jason Rogers dealt to Pittsburgh

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 18:30:06 -0800

The Milwaukee Brewers have traded 1B Jason Rogers to the Pittsburgh Pirates, in exchange for OF Keon Broxton and P Trey Supak.

Fantasy Tip: Rogers had been in line to serve as the Brewers' primary first baseman following an earlier offseason trade which sent Adam Lind to the Seattle Mariners. If the season began today, Shane Peterson, Will Middlebrooks and Garin Cecchini would be the in-house favorites to play the position, assuming that Jonathan Lucroy remains behind the plate. With the exception of Lucroy, these players should be considered exclusively for NL-only leagues. Broxton is a 25-year-outfielder who hit .273 with 27 doubles, 12 triples, 10 home runs, 68 RBIs and 39 steals in 133 games with Class AA Altoona and Class AAA Indianapolis and is likely to reach the majors in 2016. Supak, 19, went 1-2 with a 6.67 ERA in eight starts.

Pirates | Jason Rogers acquired from Milwaukee

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 18:26:14 -0800

The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired 1B Jason Rogers from the Milwaukee Brewers, in exchange for OF Keon Broxton and P Trey Supak.

Fantasy Tip: The 27-year-old Rogers hit .296 with four home runs and 16 RBIs in 169 at-bats for Milwaukee last season and appears to be in the mix with Mike Morse and Sean Rodriguez to receive regular playing time at first base for the Pirates. Owners in NL-only fantasy leagues should monitor him during spring training to see if he can win the job outright.
