Brewers | Scooter Gennett, Kirk Nieuwenhuis out

Fri, 27 May 2016 14:18:13 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Scooter Gennett and OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis are not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP John Lamb Friday, May 27. 3B Hernan Perez is starting at third base and batting second, while OF Keon Broxton is in center field and hitting eighth. 3B Aaron Hill moves over to the keystone.

Fantasy Tip: Lamb doesn't strike fear into his opponents, so Perez, Hill and Broxton could return decent value in daily leagues. Perez has the most upside in the two-hole, and he's hitting .291 (16-for-55) with three home runs and eight RBI. Broxton's main asset is his speed, so he doesn't really fit the daily landscape all that well.

Brewers | Keon Broxton draws a start

Wed, 25 May 2016 12:47:43 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Keon Broxton is starting in center field and is hitting eighth against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz Wednesday, May 25.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton has plenty of speed to burn, but he's hitless in his first 18 at-bats this year with two stolen bases. His daily ceiling is limited hitting that low in the order, and he's best avoided until he gets on the board in the hit column. In deeper mixed and NL-only leagues he's a flier if you're in need of steals, but his playing time could be an issue.

Brewers | Ryan Braun remains out

Fri, 20 May 2016 12:41:12 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ryan Braun (back) remains out of the starting lineup Friday, May 20. OFs Alex Presley and Keon Broxton are both in the starting lineup. Broxton is hitting seventh and playing center field, while Presley is hitting eighth and playing left field against New York Mets SP Steven Matz.

Fantasy Tip: Given Braun's lengthy injury history, this could be something that lands him on the DL. Prepare for the worst. With Braun hurting and Domingo Santana on the DL, Broxton and Presley could see regular playing time moving forward. Broxton is the more attractive fantasy option for his speed. He stole 15 bases after being demoted earlier this year and had 39 thefts last year.

Brewers | Domingo Santana lands on DL

Fri, 20 May 2016 11:33:57 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana (shoulder) was put on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder strain Friday, May 20. OF Keon Broxton was recalled from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: In shallow leagues, Santana can be dropped. He hasn't been able to find a rhythm at the plate and was hitting .239 with three homers and 12 RBI. He has potential to rebound for a rebuilding Brewers club when healthy, though, so keep him stashed in deeper leagues. Broxton was hitless in 16 at-bats before being demoted, but he rebounded nicely in the minors with seven home runs, 18 RBI and 15 steals. Pick Broxton up immediately in deep mixed and NL-only leagues for his speed. He should see significant playing time with Santana out and Ryan Braun (back) also ailing.

Brewers | Keon Broxton coming up

Fri, 20 May 2016 07:24:19 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Keon Broxton will be called up by the team Friday, May 20, according to Class AAA Colorado Springs manager Rick Sweet. The Brewers haven't announced the move yet.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton has elite speed, but he went hitless in 16 at-bats to open the season. He hit .301 with seven homers and 15 steals in 103 at-bats at Triple-A. Keep in mind his home park is a band box, and the Pacific Coast League is an offensive juggernaut. Don't expect that power when he comes up. He's worth a waiver claim for his steals potential.

Brewers | Keon Broxton optioned to Class AAA

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 06:06:22 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Keon Broxton was optioned to Class AAA Colorado Springs Saturday, April 16. In a corresponding move, SP Zach Davies was recalled from Colorado to start against the Pittsburgh Pirates Sunday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton failed to register a hit through 18 plate appearances, but he did manage to steal two bases, which highlights the fantasy upside accompanying his speed. For now, he is nothing more than a potential stash candidate in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues. Davies is a risky start in all fantasy formats against Pittsburgh Sunday.

Brewers | Keon Broxton draws a start

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 08:38:46 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Keon Broxton is hitting ninth Thursday, April 14, against left-handed St. Louis Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton is hitless in 11 at-bats with seven K's to begin the season, which trumps his steals potential. Let's see some progress before using a DFS flyer on him.

Brewers | Ramon Flores starting in center

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 13:26:18 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Ramon Flores will start in center field and hit sixth against San Francisco Giants SP Johnny Cueto Tuesday, April 5. OF Keon Broxton takes a seat on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton went hitless in his debut on opening day, but he remains the more attractive fantasy asset in cavernous mixed and NL-only formats. Flores has just 35 career plate appearances with no home runs and a .206 average, so he can be ignored everywhere.

Brewers | Domingo Santana leading off

Mon, 04 Apr 2016 07:52:22 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Domingo Santana is hitting leadoff in the season opener Monday, April 4. OF Keon Broxton is hitting ninth with the pitcher's spot slotted eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Santana isn't your prototypical leadoff hitter, and it really takes away from his potential for DFS purposes. Broxton is a cheap flyer for steals, though.

Brewers | MIL not naming CF starter

Thu, 24 Mar 2016 10:21:00 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Kirk Nieuwenhuis and OF Keon Broxton won't be named a definitive starter in center field as manager Craig Counsell said he doesn't expect to name one player the starter there.

Fantasy Tip: Broxton has some speed upside for NL-only formats. Nieuwenhuis is a depth grab in NL-only.
