Brewers | Chase Anderson lasts just four innings

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 21:13:45 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson allowed three runs on six hits in four innings against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, July 20. He walked a pair and struck out two.

Fantasy Tip: This was the fifth straight start where Anderson failed to finish the fifth inning, and over his last six outings his season line has dropped from a respectable 4-6, 4.21 ERA to 4-10, 5.50 ERA. While he flashed some promise earlier this year, Anderson isn't even worth starting in NL-only leagues right now.

Brewers | Chase Anderson hit hard by Dodgers

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 21:43:38 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson allowed six runs -- five earned -- on six hits in four innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday, June 28. He walked two and struck out none.

Fantasy Tip: After blanking the A's for 6 2/3 innings on June 8, Anderson was 4-6 with a 4.21 ERA on the year. In three starts since he's 0-2 with a 12.71 ERA and a 2.29 WHIP. There have been times Anderson has pitched like a deep mixed-league option, but his inconsistency makes him best suited for NL-only leagues.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig not in Tuesday lineup

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 13:54:26 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig is not starting Tuesday, June 28, against the Milwaukee Brewers. OF Trayce Thompson is in right field and will hit fifth against Brewers SP Chase Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a normal off night for Puig, so put him on your bench for the night if you can. Thompson has 11 home runs but has not homered in the past week. He is best left out of your lineup at this time.

Dodgers | Justin Turner out Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 13:42:44 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers 3B Justin Turner (hamstring) is not starting Tuesday, June 28, against the Milwaukee Brewers. SS Chris Taylor will play third base and bat eighth against Brewers SP Chase Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: Turner suffered a hamstring cramp on Monday and the team said he was day-to-day, so this is likely precautionary. Taylor just got called up from Class AAA Oklahoma City, so give him some at-bats before assessing his value. Barring injury, he projects as a pure backup infielder.

Brewers | Chase Anderson chased early

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 23:15:19 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson allowed seven earned runs, six hits and three walks in just 2 1/3 innings in a loss Saturday, June 18, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He threw just 44 of his 73 pitches for strikes.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has been blasted for 11 runs over the past 7 1/3 innings in two starts since June 8. Overall he still has a decent 1.28 WHIP and 60 strikeouts in 73 2/3 innings, but he still cannot be trusted in anything but the deepest of NL-only fantasy leagues.

Brewers | Chase Anderson settling in

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 12:13:39 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson has a 2.43 ERA with 29 strikeouts through 37 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .156/.204/.320 slash line over his past six starts.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson should still be reserved to deep mixed and NL-only leagues, and it isn't out of the question to be selective with who you start him against. Still, he's currently in fine form on the bump and could be a nice contrarian option in daily contests against the San Francisco Giants Monday, June 13.

Brewers | Chase Anderson shuts down Athletics

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 21:08:35 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson held the Oakland Athletics to just two hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings on Wednesday, June 8. He walked none and struck out four.

Fantasy Tip: Chalk up another strong outing for Anderson, who is 3-2 with a 2.43 ERA and an eye-popping 0.65 WHIP in his last six starts. He hasn't walked a hitter since May 22 and has a 29:4 strikeout-to-walk ratio during this stretch. Anderson suddenly has some legitimate mixed-league appeal.

Reds | Alfredo Simon ejected

Sat, 28 May 2016 18:37:54 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Alfredo Simon was tossed for hitting Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson Saturday, May 28. He allowed two earned runs on three hits over four innings before being ejected.

Fantasy Tip: Simon owns an ugly 9.60 ERA, and as soon as Cincinnati has some of its other starters back from injury, Simon will likely be out of a starting spot.

Brewers | Chase Anderson flirts with no-hitter

Tue, 17 May 2016 23:01:00 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday, May 17, before allowing two runs on three hits in 8 2/3 innings to get the win. He struck out six and walked one.

Fantasy Tip: It was an impressive outing before he faltered late, but Anderson has allowed more hits (323) than innings pitched (311) in his career. We'd like to see more before running to the waiver wire.

Brewers | Chase Anderson decent in loss

Wed, 11 May 2016 20:03:28 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson allowed three earned runs, three hits and one walk with four strikeouts over six innings Wednesday, May 11, against the Miami Marlins, but he was unable to avoid falling to 1-5.

Fantasy Tip: The quality start was Anderson's first in five outings dating back to April 13. Perhaps this is the sign of a turnaround, but he still needs to keep the ball down. He allowed just one homer in this game, but he has given up nine over the past 24 1/3 innings. That needs to end if he is to be more successful and a viable fantasy option.
