Tigers | Shane Greene to pitch out of bullpen

Sat, 04 Jun 2016 18:09:52 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Shane Greene will pitch out of the bullpen to protect him from developing more blisters, manager Brad Ausmus said Saturday, June 4.

Fantasy Tip: Greene's fantasy value was limited to begin with, and he can be ignored entirely as long as he is pitching in middle relief.

Tigers | Shane Greene to be activated

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 22:19:52 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Shane Greene (finger) will be activated from the 15-day disabled list prior to the team's game against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, June 3. Greene last pitched April 24 due to a blister on his finger. In a corresponding move, RP Buck Farmer was optioned to Class AAA Toledo.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear what role Greene will fill with the Tigers. He had one effective start, one poor start and then got hurt, so we'll see how he fits into the Tigers staff. Greene has no appreciable fantasy value at this time.

Tigers | Shane Greene close to return

Tue, 31 May 2016 07:28:42 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP Shane Greene (finger), who has been on the disabled list for more than a month with a blister on his middle finger, is expected to make his final rehab start for Class AAA Toledo Tuesday, May 31. However, it's not clear if Green will be used as a starter or reliever when he comes off the DL.

Fantasy Tip: Greene was sporting a 6.28 ERA with only 11 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings over three starts before his injury, so he was hardly on the fantasy radar to begin with. There's a good chance he'll return as a reliever, too, so he shouldn't be coveted by many once he's fully healthy.
