Indians | Mike Aviles starting at SS

Wed, 27 May 2015 09:07:03 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Mike Aviles is starting at shortstop and hitting seventh in the batting order against Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis Wednesday, May 27. SS Jose Ramirez will start the game on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has seen more consistent playing time since returning from a leave of absence, and he's hitting .387 (12-for-31) with a home run and three RBI in May. He's also hitting .375 (9-for-24) with a home run this year against righties. However, Aviles is still nothing more than a midrange shortstop option at FantasyScore.

Indians | Mike Aviles in lineup

Sun, 24 May 2015 08:17:46 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Mike Aviles will start at shortstop and bat ninth in the order Sunday, May 24, against the Cincinnati Reds. SS Jose Ramirez will go to the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is 6-for-his-last-11 and in the midst of a hot streak. While Aviles' price remains low, FantasyScore owners should be putting him into their lineups.

Indians | Carlos Santana remains out

Tue, 19 May 2015 16:04:07 -0700

Cleveland Indians 1B Carlos Santana (back) remains out of the lineup Tuesday, May 19. SS Jose Ramirez has moved up to the second spot in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana.

Fantasy Tip: Keep a close eye on Santana, who is hitting just .220 (27-for-123) with four home runs and 20 RBI on the year. Ramirez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is hitting just .183 (19-for-104) with one home run and five RBI, but he managed two hits while hitting in the two-hole last night. The temporary move to the top of the order boosts Ramirez's FantasyScore value, but he's still more of a low-end shortstop option.

Indians | Jose Ramirez in danger of a demotion?

Wed, 13 May 2015 14:22:53 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Jose Ramirez could be demoted to the minor leagues when SS Mike Aviles returns from the family medical emergency list.

Fantasy Tip: The 22-year-old Ramirez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is sporting a .179/.222/.238 slash line through 93 at-bats, and the Indians are trying to take a run at the Central Division. Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap), while capable in spurts, has topped 500 at-bats just once in his career, and he doesn't project as the long-term answer. His value is likely on the rise, though. Top prospect Francisco Lindor hasn't exactly forced Cleveland's hand with a standout start to his season at Class AAA Columbus (Ohio), either. Still, Lindor could be a hot stretch away from a promotion, so he is a name to watch.

Indians | Jose Ramirez out, Mike Aviles in

Wed, 06 May 2015 14:13:35 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Jose Ramirez is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 6. SS Mike Aviles will be the starting shortstop for the team.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has been struggling at the plate, so he could see more off days moving forward. Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in four of the last five games and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Indians | Mike Aviles starting at short

Tue, 05 May 2015 16:34:48 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Mike Aviles is starting at shortstop and hitting seventh in the batting order against Kansas City Royals SP Jason Vargas Tuesday, May 5. SS Jose Ramirez is sitting on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) could see more frequent starts at the 6 with Ramirez struggling (.194-1-3) as they bide time for prospect Francisco Lindor. Aviles has a home run and three RBI in 14 career at-bats against Vargas, making him a notable sleeper play to save loot at FantasyScore tonight.

Indians | Jose Ramirez hitting second Tuesday

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 11:41:13 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Jose Ramirez is hitting second in the batting order against Kansas City Royals SP Jeremy Guthrie Tuesday, April 28. OF Michael Bourn is in the nine-hole.

Fantasy Tip: While Ramirez ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has only 10 hits in 54 at-bats (.185), the move to the top of lineup to get him going is notable, and it could make him a value play at FantasyScore tonight to give you a leg up against your competition. Consider him if you're looking to save money elsewhere.

Indians | Francisco Lindor hot at Triple-A

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 19:44:20 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Francisco Lindor has a slash line of .302/.380/429 at Triple-A Columbus, and fans are calling for him to replace the struggling SS Jose Ramirez. General manager Chris Antonetti said Monday, April 27, that Lindor has a "litany of things" to work on in Columbus before he gets the call to the big club.

Fantasy Tip: Lindor is the future at shortstop for the Indians, but it doesn't appear that a promotion will happen soon. He remains a must-have in long-term keeper leagues, and is worth stashing away in AL-only leagues if you have the roster flexibility. FantasyScore owners need not bother with him for now.

Indians | Jose Ramirez is fine for now

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 19:33:04 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Jose Ramirez is off to a slow start, but the team is still preaching patience with SS Francisco Lindor hot at Triple-A Columbus and waiting in the wings. Ramirez was hitting just .196 through his first 15 games over 51 at-bats. "I would encourage (fans) to take a look at Jose Ramirez's body of work," general manager Chris Antonetti said Monday, April 27. "Not only what he did last year at the Major League level, but the way he played and performed throughout our development system, because he's a guy that produced at each level and played very well at each stop he's been - including the Major Leagues."

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez did well taking over for the departed Asdrubal Cabrera last season, and it sounds like he has a bit of a long leash in Cleveland. Still, if Lindor continues to tear it up and Ramirez can't snap his funk, the calls of the fans will only get louder and more frequent.

Indians | Francisco Lindor reassigned to minors

Thu, 26 Mar 2015 10:48:24 -0700

Cleveland Indians SS Francisco Lindor was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday, March 26, and he will start the season with Triple-A Columbus. Lindor had a slash line of .297/.308/.592 with two home runs, a triple and three doubles in 16 Cactus League game this spring. SS Jose Ramirez, 22, is expected to hold down shortstop duties until Lindor is ready.

Fantasy Tip: Lindor is MLB.com's No. 4 prospect in 2015. He shouldn't be drafted in standard mixed leagues, but he should definitely be on the radar of those in AL-only and keeper leagues.
