Phillies | Adam Morgan tosses quality start

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 19:38:22 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan (1-1) allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings in a loss to the Atlanta Braves Friday, July 3. He walked two and struck out five.

Fantasy Tip: Morgan ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has pitched well in both of his major league starts but faces a difficult task in his next outing Wednesday, July 8, when he is scheduled to face Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Avoid using him in FantasyScore next week.

Phillies | Adam Morgan earns another start

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 17:53:09 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan won his major league debut, allowing one run on six hits and striking out six in 5 2/3 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, June 21. After the game, manager Ryne Sandberg said Morgan had earned another start.

Fantasy Tip: Morgan was winless in the minors this year, so his strong debut was a bit surprising. It sounds like he will make at least one more start, but a repeat of Sunday's performance seems unlikely.

Phillies | Adam Morgan starting Sunday

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 12:04:15 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan is starting against the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday, June 21.

Fantasy Tip: Morgan has a 4.74 ERA, a 4.80 FIP, a 1.58 WHIP and a 4.3 K/9 over 13 starts with Class AAA Lehigh Valley. Those are hardly endearing statistics, so fantasy owners will want to avoid him in all formats, and especially at FantasyScore. If he sticks in the rotation, Morgan could be worth a flier for desperate NL-only owners.

Phillies | Adam Morgan might not return until August

Fri, 10 Jan 2014 20:17:56 -0800

Philadelphia Phillies P Adam Morgan (shoulder) had surgery on his left shoulder earlier this month, and assistant general manager Benny Looper said Friday, Jan. 10, that Morgan might not be back until August, at the earliest. "He was a guy that was close," Looper said. "I know it's hard for us, because it decreases our starting-pitching depth, but it's more of a blow for him. He loses a year here. And really, including last year, he loses a year plus."

Phillies | Searching for next wave of depth

Tue, 19 Feb 2013 21:32:28 -0800

Philadelphia Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick used to be plucked from the bullpen and plugged into the starting rotation if injuries struck, but now he is cemented as the team's fourth starter. Pitching coach Rich Dubee will use spring training to formulate his depth chart and find the next potential replacement if trouble strikes. The team signed veteran Ps Aaron Cook and Rodrigo Lopez to minor-league deals, and they represent the sort of Triple-A depth a team requires. Ps Tyler Cloyd, Ethan Martin, Adam Morgan and Jonathan Pettibone might also get a chance to move up the depth chart.
