Bears | Cameron Meredith will be ready for camp

Wed, 14 Jun 2017 16:25:29 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (thumb) will be ready for the start of training camp, according to head coach John Fox.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith is coming off a solid 2016 season and could become the team's No. 1 receiver this season if he can stay healthy. Owners should monitor his situation at the start of training camp because he could be a No. 4 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Bears | Evaluating Chicago's WRs

Mon, 05 Jun 2017 06:43:58 -0700

Chicago Bears WRs Cameron Meredith (thumb), Kevin White and Markus Wheaton (shoulder) are considered locks to make the 53-man roster, in the opinion of Chicago Tribune writer Dan Wiederer. WRs Victor Cruz, Kendall Wright, Josh Bellamy, Deonte Thompson and Daniel Braverman are considered to be on the bubble. WRs Tanner Gentry, Rueben Randle and Titus Davis are viewed as long shots for the final roster.

Bears | More on Cameron Meredith injury

Fri, 02 Jun 2017 11:12:40 -0700

Updating a previous report, surgery has not been ruled out for Chicago Bears for WR Cameron Meredith (thumb) after he suffered ligament damage in one of his thumbs during OTAs on Thursday, June 1. While he is expected to miss six to eight weeks, Meredith injury is not believed to be serious "in the big picture," according to the Chicago Tribune's Dan Wiederer.

Bears | Cameron Meredith suffers thumb injury

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 16:51:35 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (thumb) suffered a thumb ligament injury Thursday, June 1, and will miss the rest of the offseason program. However, he expects to be ready for training camp, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith is coming off a breakout sophomore campaign that saw him register 66 catches, 888 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games, so thankfully, this injury doesn't look like it will hinder him going into his third season. The Bears have a lot of issues with their receiver depth, but that's something that will only benefit Meredith, making him an intriguing weapon to draft.

Bears | Cam Meredith throws touchdown

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 21:19:17 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith posted four catches for a team-high 61 yards on six targets in the Week 17 game against the Minnesota Vikings, and he also threw a touchdown pass.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith showed he belongs this season, finishing with 66 catches for 888 yards and four scores. The former standout at Illinois State will be a sleeper heading into 2017, especially if impending free-agent Alshon Jeffery is playing elsewhere and not Chicago.

Bears | Cameron Meredith proving himself

Sat, 31 Dec 2016 17:28:02 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith was praised for his consistency and versatility by offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, and Loggains said Meredith has earned the trust of his quarterbacks with his play this season.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith has at least 67 receiving yards in four straight games, and he has WR3 potential against Minnesota in Week 17. He looks like an early breakout candidate for 2017, especially if Alshon Jeffery departs in the offseason.

Bears | Cameron Meredith continues tearing it up

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 16:29:50 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith finished with nine catches for a career-high 135 yards and a touchdown in a Week 16 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith was stopped one yard short of a second touchdown as well. This game marks the fourth time this season he has had at least nine catches for more than 100 yards and the second straight week he has done so. He's obviously in play as a WR2 next week against the Minnesota Vikings and may have cemented his status as a starter for 2017 as Alshon Jeffery is likely to move on in free agency.

Bears | Cam Meredith pulls down nine receptions

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 17:25:01 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith posted nine receptions for 104 yards on a team-high 13 targets in the Week 15 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith posted his first 100-yard game since Oct. 16. He has re-emerged as a decent WR3 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, posting 67 or more yards in three straight outings.

Bears | Cameron Meredith posts 72 yards, TD

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 20:47:41 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith posted six receptions for a game-high 72 yards and a touchdown on eight targets in the Week 14 game against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith's fantasy production has been rather erratic this season. When he has a big game, fantasy owners jump on him and then he does nothing. When fantasy owners get away from him, he produces a solid stat line like this one. He has been hard to figure, and he is only worth trusting as a WR4 at this point.

Bears | Cameron Meredith posts 67 yards

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 14:01:19 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith caught three passes for 67 yards against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith posted similar stats in three of the last four games but has been targeted more than four times in only one of the last six games. Owners in most leagues probably can find better options to use and can keep Meredith on their bench.

Bears | Cameron Meredith doesn't do much

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 16:47:37 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith posted just two catches for 19 yards on nine targets in the Week 12 loss against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith has had some highlight reel games this season, but Sunday was certainly not one of them. With Alshon Jeffery suspended, many felt Meredith could step up and fill the void. So far it has been Marquess Wilson, Deonte Thompson and Joshua Bellamy doing the work instead.

Bears | Cameron Meredith playing plenty of snaps

Mon, 14 Nov 2016 19:03:10 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith has played 147 snaps over the past three games, 106 more than any receiver on the team besides WR Alshon Jeffery. With Jeffery suspended for four games due to performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs), Meredith is expected to move up the team's receiver hierarchy.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith had one tipped pass reception for a 50-yard touchdown in Week 10, but you can expect he'll see increased targets and receptions in future weeks. He can be trusted as a WR3 in most fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.

Bears | Just one grab for Cameron Meredith

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 21:32:54 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (shoulder) managed just one reception for 24 yards in the Week 8 game against the Minnesota Vikings Monday, Oct. 31. He was targeted just two times.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith was on the injury report with a shoulder injury, and it's uncertain if the shoulder was bothering him or Jay Cutler simply doesn't trust him as much as Brian Hoyer did. The Bears are off in Week 9, so Cutler has two weeks to build rapport with Meredith in case the familiarity was an issue.

Bears | Cameron Meredith ready to play

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 16:34:18 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (shoulder) is officially active for the team's Week 8 game.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith have played well over the last few weeks, but his chemistry with Jay Cutler is uncertain at this point. He will be facing a tough Minnesota Vikings defense but could still be a flex option because he will see more targets with Eddie Royal out.

Bears | Cameron Meredith questionable

Sat, 29 Oct 2016 13:12:05 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (shoulder) was limited during practice Saturday, Oct. 29, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith probably will be able to play against the Minnesota Vikings, but it is not known how his timing with Jay Cutler will be during the game. He was limited to 12 yards in the last game but could still be a flex option since he had back-to-back 100-yard games before last week.

Bears | Cameron Meredith limited

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 17:57:45 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (stomach) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith has posted at least 100 yards in two of the last three games, but it is not known if he will have good chemistry with Jay Cutler. He can still be considered a No. 3 receiver or a flex option if he is active.

Bears | Cameron Meredith held to one catch

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 21:32:26 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith hauled in only one of his two targets for 12 yards in a Week 7 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: While Brian Hoyer's first-half arm injury and subsequent exit didn't exactly help matters, Meredith appeared to be an afterthought all game long. After posting 20 catches on 27 targets over the previous two weeks, the second-year wideout is now in uncertain fantasy territory with Hoyer out indefinitely and Matt Barkley under center. It's too early for his owners to panic, but a Week 8 date with the Minnesota Vikings is daunting enough to make him bench-worthy.

Bears | Cameron Meredith plays well in Week 6

Sun, 16 Oct 2016 15:10:41 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith caught 11 passes for 113 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith recorded his second straight 100-yard game and appears to have earned a role in the passing game. He can be a No. 3 receiver or flex option for owners in Week 7.

Bears | Cameron Meredith bursts onto scene

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 20:18:35 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith posted nine receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts, and he was targeted a game-high 12 times.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith moved into a prominent role with Kevin White hitting the Reserve/Injured List and he hit the ground running, leading everyone on the team in receptions, yardage and targets. He had a small ownership percentage in all leagues heading into this week, but that's about to change in Week 6 as he will be one of the hottest pick-ups in fantasy football. Be careful not to overvalue Meredith, however, as he was facing a terrible and banged up secondary, and he will most certainly take a step back against Jacksonville.

Bears | Cameron Meredith has chance to shine

Sat, 08 Oct 2016 20:30:21 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith is expected to start in three-receiver sets with WR Kevin White (ankle, leg) in the Reserve/Injured list, and WR Alshon Jeffery said the "sky's the limit" for Meredith.

Bears | Marquess Wilson could start on PUP list

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:04:34 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Marquess Wilson (foot) is expected to begin the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. Wilson would not be eligible to return until Week 6 if he is placed on the PUP list to start the season. WRs Josh Bellamy and Cameron Meredith were the first two names mentioned by Biggs who could play more if Wilson is sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: Alshon Jeffery and Kevin White will take most of the targets in Chicago's offense anyway, and TE Zach Miller should see a lot of action, too. No one behind Jeffery and White on the Bears' wide receiver depth chart is worth serious fantasy consideration.

Bears | Eddie Royal questionable

Fri, 04 Dec 2015 15:44:10 -0800

Chicago Bears WR Eddie Royal (knee) did not practice all week but is questionable for Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers. However, it's unusual for a player to suit up after missing an entire week of practice. With WR Marquess Wilson (foot) also out, WRs Josh Bellamy, Marc Mariani and Cameron Meredith might be asked to contribute more.

Fantasy Tip: Don't count on Royal ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) to return this weekend. With Wilson out, Alshon Jeffery ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) is worth every penny against a weak Niners defense. Martellus Bennett ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) is also very attractive with Zach Miller questionable to play.
