Bears | Chicago to use committee at receiver

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 09:34:24 -0700

Chicago Bears intend to use a committee at receiver to make up the season ending knee injury to WR Cameron Meredith, according to offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, who stated packages will be designed for specific receivers.

Fantasy Tip: Presumably, this affects every Chicago receiver except for Kevin White and has the biggest impact on the fantasy stock of Kendall Wright, although this figures to be mostly coach-speak. White will likely see over well over 100 targets if he can finally stay healthy, while Wright figures to be pretty busy in the slot if he also can find a way to stay on the field. Given the state of the Bears' offense as a whole, however, it's going to be hard to trust any Chicago receiver as anything more than a WR5.

Bears | ACL tear confirmed for Cameron Meredith

Mon, 28 Aug 2017 12:07:11 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith's (knee) torn anterior cruciate ligament was confirmed by an MRI. There is other undisclosed damage to his knee as well, according to a source. He will undergo more tests to determine the extent of the damage.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith is done for the 2017 season. His unfortunate injury paves the way for Kevin White to finally play like the first-round pick he was drafted as. It also opens the door for receivers like Kendall Wright and Markus Wheaton, who are now late-round sleeper options.

Bears | Cameron Meredith may have torn ACL

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 12:13:36 -0700

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (knee) is believed to have torn his left ACL and may have suffered further damage to his knee as well.

Fantasy Tip: If the report proves to be accurate, Meredith will obviously miss the rest of the season. Kevin White figures to become a target hog for as long as he can stay healthy in such a scenario, while the team's reliance on Jordan Howard figures to increase. Kendall Wright would also likely be worth drafting in the later rounds of deeper drafts.

Bears | Cameron Meredith carted off

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 10:40:02 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of the third preseason game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Aug. 27, after being carted off with an apparent serious left knee injury. He had an air cast placed on his leg before he got and sat down on the cart with a towel over his head.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith emerged as the Bears' top receiver in 2016 with 66 catches for 888 receiving yards last season, so any multi-week absence - which is almost certainly the case here - hurts a Chicago receiving corps that couldn't afford such a loss. Kevin White and Kendall Wright - likely in that order - figure to see the biggest increase in targets if Meredith misses significant time as expected.

Bears | Cameron Meredith building chemistry with QB

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 19:42:09 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith is building chemistry with QB Mike Glennon and appears to be Glennon's favorite targets during the early part of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith is coming off a very successful 2016 season when he recorded 888 yards and four touchdowns and should be one of the starting receivers for the Bears this season. It is good that he is working well with Glennon since Glennon is expected to be the starting quarterback. Meredith has a chance to be a No. 4 receiver in fantasy leagues since he should see plenty of targets.

Wed, 14 Jun 2017 16:25:29 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Meredith is coming off a solid 2016 season and could become the team's No. 1 receiver this season if he can stay healthy. Owners should monitor his situation at the start of training camp because he could be a No. 4 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Bears | Evaluating Chicago's WRs

Mon, 05 Jun 2017 06:43:58 -0700

Chicago Bears WRs Cameron Meredith (thumb), Kevin White and Markus Wheaton (shoulder) are considered locks to make the 53-man roster, in the opinion of Chicago Tribune writer Dan Wiederer. WRs Victor Cruz, Kendall Wright, Josh Bellamy, Deonte Thompson and Daniel Braverman are considered to be on the bubble. WRs Tanner Gentry, Rueben Randle and Titus Davis are viewed as long shots for the final roster.

Bears | Cameron Meredith suffers thumb injury

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 16:51:35 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith (thumb) suffered a thumb ligament injury Thursday, June 1, and will miss the rest of the offseason program. However, he expects to be ready for training camp, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith is coming off a breakout sophomore campaign that saw him register 66 catches, 888 yards and four touchdowns in 11 games, so thankfully, this injury doesn't look like it will hinder him going into his third season. The Bears have a lot of issues with their receiver depth, but that's something that will only benefit Meredith, making him an intriguing weapon to draft.
