Broncos | C.J. Anderson making solid progress

Sat, 19 Nov 2016 09:30:02 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn meniscus.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson is currently on the Reserve/Injured list but could be activated near the end of the regular season. Owners should keep an eye on the situation, but he may not be valuable in some leagues if he returns Week 16 or Week 17. Devontae Booker will continue to be the starting running back and can be a No. 2 running back in most leagues.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson placed on IR

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 13:57:15 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Oct. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson won't be able to return for eight weeks, effectively putting him out for the rest of the fantasy season. The coast is now clear for Devontae Booker to become an every-week RB1, although there is a strong possibility new backup Kapri Bibbs will steal enough touches to merit a stash in deeper leagues.

Updating a previous report, the Denver Broncos are determining whether or not to place RB C.J. Anderson (knee) on injured reserve and they expect to come to a decision within the next 24 hours.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking more likely than not that Anderson's season is over, but we'll know soon enough, according to this report. With him out indefinitely, Devontae Booker looks poised to emerge as a legitimate RB1 on a weekly basis.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson may be ready for playoffs

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 11:11:20 -0700

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) is expected to miss eight to 12 weeks because of his knee surgery, but the Broncos hope that he will be able to return for the playoffs. The severity of the injury will not be known until the surgery occurs.

Fantasy Tip: Devontae Booker will fill in for Anderson in the starting lineup and should receive most of the carries in the running game. He is coming off a solid game in Week 7 and can be a No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson to undergo surgery

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 10:45:05 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) is scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday, Oct. 27, to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. He likely will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson probably will miss the rest of the season, so owners can drop him from their roster if they need another running back. Devontae Booker will receiver most of the playing time at running back moving forward and can be a No. 2 running back or a flex option in all leagues.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson denies report

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 08:27:28 -0700

Updating earlier reports, Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) denied a report stating he has told people close to him that his season is over.

Fantasy Tip: Either way, Anderson's outlook for Week 8 is in question. Devontae Booker's workload has been raising the last couple of weeks, and his stock could soar if Anderson is out for a considerable amount of time. Booker is a solid flex play with a good matchup against the San Diego Chargers this week.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson has bleak outlook

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 08:15:40 -0700

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) has told people close to him that his season is over, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson avoided an ACL tear, but there is still the possibility of a fracture in his leg. He's undergoing further testing today. Devontae Booker's workload has been raising the last couple of weeks, and his stock could soar if Anderson is out for a considerable amount of time. Booker is a solid flex play with a good matchup against the San Diego Chargers this week.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson avoids ACL tear

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 07:10:58 -0700

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) had an MRI Wednesday, Oct. 26, which revealed he did not suffer a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Anderson's status is expected to be updated Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Devontae Booker's workload has been raising the last couple of weeks, and Anderson's bone bruise will likely keep him out this week. If it's not too late, Booker needs to be picked up universally. He's a solid flex play with a good matchup against the San Diego Chargers this week.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson to miss time

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 13:04:07 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (knee) is expected to miss at least a few weeks because of a knee injury. He is scheduled to receive a second opinion on the knee to see if he will be sidelined for an extended period of time.

Fantasy Tip: Devontae Booker probably will receive most of the snaps at running back with Anderson sidelined and is coming off a game where he rushed for 83 yards and one touchdown. He can be considered a No. 2 running back in most fantasy leagues. Kapri Bibbs likely will also receive limited playing time but should be avoided by owners.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson hits century mark

Mon, 24 Oct 2016 21:31:38 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson rushed 16 times for 107 yards and a touchdown in the Week 7 game against the Houston Texans Monday, Oct. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson entered with four straight games of 50 or fewer rushing yards, so the season-high in yardage was very welcome by nervous fantasy owners. Anderson has rushed for four touchdowns in seven games and remains a decent RB2 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 8 against the San Diego Chargers. He had 71 total yards from scrimmage on 14 touches in the first meeting in Week 6.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson not worried about role

Sat, 22 Oct 2016 19:02:01 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson said he isn't worried about RB Devontae Booker having a larger role in the offense. "I'm actually happy that he's coming along," Anderson said. "I've been helping him through the whole way. I'm just glad he's here."

Fantasy Tip: Even with Booker potentially seeing some more action, Anderson should continue to see enough touches to be used as a RB2 against the Texans in Week 7.

Broncos | Tough running for C.J. Anderson

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 21:04:53 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson had 10 carries for 37 yards and four catches for 34 yards in a 21-13 loss to the San Diego Chargers in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Since a big Week 1, Anderson has struggled to run the ball, averaging no more than 3.7 yards per carry in each of his last five games. On the plus side, volume keeps him in the RB2 conversation.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson does very little

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 21:58:37 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson rushed 11 times for just 41 yards in the Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He also added three receptions for 21 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson remains a decent RB2 in most fantasy leagues despite a handful of rough outings after his quick start to the season.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson finds end zone again

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 22:35:58 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson ran 19 times for 49 yards and a touchdown in the Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also had one catch for three yards on his only target.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson four total touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving) in four games this season. While his yardage totals have tailed off since his two games of the season, Anderson remains a solid low-end RB1 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 5 against Atlanta.

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 14:28:45 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson rushed for just 37 yards on 14 carries Sunday, Sept. 25, in a 29-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: The entire Denver running game was ineffective, but Trevor Siemian's passing made up for it. You may want to see how Denver's opponent fares against the run before putting Anderson in your lineup.

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 16:40:36 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ribs) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson will continue to receive most of the carries in the running game and can be a decent No. 2 running back against the Cincinnati Bengals this week.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson a full participant

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 18:15:36 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ribs) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has been a workhorse for the Broncos through the first two games, and he should remain a RB1 in Week 3 despite a matchup with a solid Cincinnati defense.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson practices Wednesday

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 16:07:41 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ribs) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson shines in Week 1

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 21:08:38 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson had 20 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown and four catches for 47 yards and a touchdown in a 21-20 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: No other back had more than three carries, and Anderson looks primed to be the workhorse in Gary Kubiak's offense as long as he continues to produce. Expect RB1 production going forward.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman has competition for job

Mon, 15 Aug 2016 19:03:29 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman is facing a battle for a roster spot, according to head coach Gary Kubiak. He is getting competition from rookie RB Devontae Booker and RB Kapri Bibbs for the right to back up starter RB C.J. Anderson. Hillman is expected to see plenty of action in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 20, against the San Francisco 49ers. "Ronnie is in a battle, a helluva a battle with Kapri and Book right now," Kubiak said Monday, Aug. 15. "There's no way around that. I'm just being honest with you."

Fantasy Tip: Hillman might need to play more special teams and excel in the role to keep his spot on the roster. He posted 863 yards and seven touchdowns last season while adding 24 receptions. If he makes the team he is a solid handcuff to Anderson, but wait to see how the preseason plays out before risking a late-round fantasy pick on him.

Broncos | Two Denver backs listed as co-backups

Mon, 08 Aug 2016 16:00:31 -0700

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman and Devontae Booker are listed as co-backups behind RB C.J. Anderson in Denver's initial depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Booker has more upside, but Hillman's experience and versatility may give him more playing time out of the gate. The rookie should be drafted higher, though, but only for depth in traditional leagues. Hillman has been given plenty of chances and hasn't really run away with the opportunities, pun intended.

Broncos | Denver to run often

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 11:49:31 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson said it's pretty obvious that head coach Gary Kubiak and the coaching staff will be more committed to the run this year after QB Peyton Manning retired. "I don't think there's a question what coach (Kubiak) wants to do," Anderson said recently. "All you have to do is look out there and see a fullback running around ... I mean, we even drafted one. (Kubiak) wants to run the ball." RBs Andy Janovich and Juwan Thompson have lined up at fullback in offseason practices. Denver used a two-back set just 25 times last year, but Kubiak is intent on going to the run more often moving forward. The Broncos beefed up their offensive line by adding OTs Russell Okung and Donald Stephenson, too.

Fantasy Tip: This is great news for Anderson, Ronnie Hillman and rookie Devontae Booker. Anderson will be the go-to back, but he's never shown he's a capable RB1 for fantasy purposes over a full season, so draft him as more of a low-end RB2. Booker has the skills to be a three-down back and therefor has more appeal and upside than Hillman as a potential flex play.

Broncos | Ronnie Hillman the favorite for backup

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 14:37:26 -0700

Denver Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman is still ahead of RB Devontae Booker to back up RB C.J. Anderson, according to Andrew Mason of denverbroncos.com. RB Kapri Bibbs will also compete with Hillman and Booker for backup duties.

Fantasy Tip: Denver will try to run the ball frequently this year, but the fantasy value of Booker and Hillman is minimal at this point. Booker probably has more upside, too, despite Hillman currently being ahead of him. Don't view either as more than an RB4, though.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson in top condition

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 11:25:14 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson is in the best condition that head coach Gary Kubiak has seen him in, and Anderson has responded to competition. "He's ready to be an every down back," Kubiak said.

Fantasy Tip: He still has to show he can hold up for a full season. Anderson will have Devontae Booker and Ronnie Hillman on his heels, and he could sit on third downs and inside the 5-yard line. For now, Anderson is a high-end RB3 with upside.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson the No. 1 back

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 20:16:57 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson has looked like the No. 1 running back throughout organized team activities so far, and his cuts have been decisive like they were in the second half of last season after he recovered from his sprained ankle. Anderson is also adjusting well to having a fullback in front of him, with FBs Juwan Thompson and Andy Janovich competing for the role.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has really showed flashes of brilliance the last two years with the Broncos, but he's yet to put a full season together, mainly because of nagging injuries. He's expected to see the majority of carries this year, but he'll have to fend off the likes of Ronnie Hillman and impressive rookie Devontae Booker. This zone-blocking scheme fits Anderson well, but he's more of an RB2 or 3 than a No. 1 fantasy starter like he was drafted for last year.

Broncos | Andy Janovich, Juwan Thompson battling

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 20:14:56 -0700

Denver Broncos FBs Andy Janovich and Juwan Thompson are battling for the starting fullback job. RB C.J. Anderson has worked with Thompson and built a relationship over the past two season, so they have timing down while working together. That's something Janovich will have to build with Anderson over time.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Janovich nor Thompson are likely to have much in the way of fantasy appeal, but their presence is good news for Anderson. They'll help to make bigger holes for the running back.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson the lead back

Wed, 11 May 2016 17:35:55 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will receive the bulk of the carries in 2016 with RB Ronnie Hillman providing a change of pace. RB Devontae Booker will have a chance to play on third downs if he can pick up pass protection.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson had a lot of hype last season and fell flat. The offense is pretty questionable now with Mark Sanchez lined up as the starting quarterback. It's a risk to take Anderson as anything more than a great RB3. Hillman has spurts, but he's little more than an RB4. Booker could be worth an RB5 flyer if he makes some noise in camp.

Broncos | Different role for C.J. Anderson

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 11:17:17 -0700

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson said his role will be different in 2016 because he will control more when he's off the field, as opposed to alternating so much with RB Ronnie Hillman and others.

Fantasy Tip: It's clear that Anderson is Denver's primary running back right now. That's what he was supposed to be last season, but Hillman took the spotlight at times. Hillman will still take away a good amount of playing time from Anderson, but Anderson can still achieve RB2 status if he stays healthy.

Dolphins | Miami eyeing Ezekiel Elliott?

Fri, 18 Mar 2016 18:16:41 -0700

Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott is being considered as an option for the 13th overall pick by the Miami Dolphins, who missed out on Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson and Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson in free agency.

Fantasy Tip: Elliott has the all-around game to thrive in Adam Gase's offensive system, and he could provide RB2 value as a rookie. If Miami does use a first-round pick on Elliott, Jay Ajayi would no longer be a starting-caliber fantasy back.

Broncos | More on C.J. Anderson deal

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 13:58:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will receive a guaranteed $5.25 million signing bonus. His $675,000 base salary is also guaranteed. Additionally, $1.7 million of his $2.9 million 2017 base salary is also guaranteed. Anderson's base salaries of $4.5 million in 2018 and 2019 are not guaranteed, however. He'll need to be on Denver's roster to earn that.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, Anderson retains his position as the Broncos' lead running back. Denver could still add a running back, though, via free agency or the NFL Draft. For now, keep Anderson in the RB2 conversation.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson staying in Denver

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 12:15:48 -0700

Denver Broncos restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson's offer sheet from the Miami Dolphins is being matched by the Broncos Tuesday, March 15, according to a source. Miami's offer sheet was four years in length and worth $18 million.

Fantasy Tip: This is a bit of a surprise as the Broncos seemed to be fine with letting Anderson go after giving him a low tender. Anderson is once again, for now, the lead running back for the Broncos. Ronnie Hillman is expected to leave town via free agency, so Denver will likely be adding another running back through free agency or the draft, too. Arian Foster is a name that has been rumored with the Broncos, especially with the connection to his former head coach, Gary Kubiak. Anderson's fantasy value would certainly take a hit if Foster joined Denver, but for now, Anderson is in RB2 territory.

Dolphins | C.J. Anderson offer sheet loaded

Mon, 14 Mar 2016 05:34:19 -0700

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson's offer sheet with the Miami Dolphins would make him the fourth highest paid running back in the NFL in 2016 at $6 million. He'd receive a $5.25 million signing bonus due by March 31 with a $675,000 salary and a $100,000 workout bonus in 2016.

It includes a $2.9 million salary ($1.7 million guaranteed) and a $100,000 workout bonus in 2017, and he would make $4.5 million each in 2018-2019. The Broncos have until 4 PM ET Tuesday, March 15, to match the offer.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson looks like an RB2 in fantasy when draft day comes.

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 13:57:13 -0800

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson's four-year offer sheet with the Miami Dolphins is worth $18 million.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, the Broncos have five days to match the offer sheet. If they don't, Anderson would be splitting playing time with Jay Ajayi, who showed a lot of promise in his rookie season last year. If he stays with Miami, he should be viewed as a RB3.

Dolphins | C.J. Anderson signs Miami's offer sheet

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 13:50:32 -0800

Denver Broncos restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson signed a four-year offer sheet from the Miami Dolphins Thursday, March 10. The Broncos have five days to match Miami's offer.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson would reunite with former offensive coordinator Adam Gase in Miami, but he would indubitably be splitting playing time with Jay Ajayi, who showed a lot of promise in his rookie season last year. Anderson could still return to the Broncos, though, so stay tuned.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson likely leaving Denver

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 11:46:31 -0800

Denver Broncos restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson is expected to sign somewhere other than Denver. The only question is whether the Broncos will match a likely front-loaded contract offer from another team.

Fantasy Tip: We learned in 2015 that Anderson isn't a RB1 for fantasy owners, but he can produce RB2 numbers in the right situation, and the Miami Dolphins may offer him a deal Thursday. Stay tuned.

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 08:01:23 -0800

Denver Broncos restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson is visiting the Miami Dolphins Thursday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson's fantasy value is a little murky right now dependent on the team and parts around him. He could be an RB2 or an RB3 come draft day.

Broncos | Four teams want C.J. Anderson

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 14:22:43 -0800

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson is attracting interest from four teams.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson will be attractive to interested parties because the Broncos only put a low-round tender on him. He disappointed fantasy owners in 2015 after a breakout in 2014, but he could thrive again in the right situation and can be an RB2 for fantasy owners in the right situation.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson generating interest

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 11:53:07 -0800

Denver Broncos restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson is generating interest from "multiple" teams after receiving a low-round tender.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson disappointed his fantasy owners last year after a breakout 2014 season in the second half. There's promise for him as an RB2 if he stays in Denver in the zone-blocking scheme, but all bets are off if he lands elsewhere. Still, he could be a valuable RB3 or flex play in the right situation.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson receives low tender

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 07:58:23 -0800

Denver Broncos impending restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson received a low-round tender worth $1.671 million Monday, March 7.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson, who became the primary running back for Denver during their playoff run, is expected to stick around. In the second year in Gary Kubiak's zone-blocking system, Anderson should improve, making him an RB2 in fantasy.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson awaiting tender

Fri, 04 Mar 2016 11:40:04 -0800

Denver Broncos restricted free-agent RB C.J. Anderson is expected to receive his restricted free-agent tender early next week.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson is a fascinating case in fantasy next season. He failed to take off in 2015, but it's probably still too early to peg him as a part-time back. The quarterback situation is in flux to a degree, though the Broncos are expected to go with Brock Osweiler. Ronnie Hillman has filled in admirably at times, but he has failed to capture the workhorse role a couple of times. Anderson could fall into the RB3 mix, and there is upside if he can grasp the bulk of the work.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson ready to be bell-cow RB?

Thu, 11 Feb 2016 12:23:55 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent RB C.J. Anderson thinks he can be a bell-cow running back after rushing 23 times and catching four passes for 100 total yards from scrimmage in the Super Bowl.

"You know, we chose to go the two-back route and we chose to split time with me and Ronnie (Hillman) and just try to get a change of pace. You know, keep defenses off balance. But I mean if they want me to touch the ball 25 times, 27 times, 28 times, either way whether it's all carries or carries and catches I believe I can handle it always, whether it's being a third-down back catching the ball out of the backfield or picking up the blitz and also being first- and second-down just every-down back," Anderson said.

Fantasy Tip: Both Anderson and Hillman are due for free agency this spring, and Anderson is the better bet to remain in Denver. His breakout came in 2014 when he ran 179 times for 849 yards and eight scores, and he could return to similar numbers if he's the go-to running back in 2016.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson starting

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 14:56:43 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will be the starting running back against the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has been a solid part of the offense but has not been in the starting lineup for several months. Anderson has rushed for 72 yards in each of the two playoff games and will have plenty of chances to produce in Super Bowl 50.

Broncos | Denver running game has been producing

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 16:27:15 -0800

The Denver Broncos have averaged 29.9 rushing attempts and 128.0 rushing yards (eight touchdowns) in their last nine games with RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman. The Broncos are unbeaten when they record at least 30 rushes and 130-plus rushing yards in a game this season. Anderson has been the more productive runner in a featured role.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson and Hillman complement each other well, and both will see plenty of opportunities to make a difference on offense in the Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers unless the Panthers get out to a big lead early.

Broncos | Will Denver's running backs stay?

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 13:33:21 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson are both slated to become free agents this offseason. Anderson, however, will be a restricted free agent, so he'll be easier to bring back than Hillman, who will be an unrestricted free agent.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos may want to keep both backs, but Anderson seems more likely to stay. Hillman had his fair share of success in 2015, but he's built somewhat of a reputation for fumbling the football and has a relatively small frame for a running back. With Peyton Manning possibly retiring and at least one running back possibly leaving, the Broncos could have a very new look on offense next season.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson runs well

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 16:28:28 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson finished with 16 carries for 72 yards and three catches for 18 yards in a 20-18 win over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson continued his late-season surge, and while he didn't live up to expectations this year, he is still a RB2 candidate heading into 2016.

Patriots | Dont'a Hightower the X-factor?

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 15:50:55 -0800

The Denver Broncos were only able to run for 46 yards and no touchdowns on 16 carries with New England Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower in the game in their Week 12 matchup. After Hightower left due to an injury, Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman piled up 133 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. LB Jamie Collins also missed that game.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) finished the divisional round running better than Hillman ($6,200, 12.4% of cap), so he could see more early work against the Patriots. The Broncos will mix both in, but with Hightower and Collins playing, yards on the ground may be tough to come by.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson has uphill battle

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 18:52:58 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will meet the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. The Patriots ranked eighth in the NFL against the run during the regular season, giving up just 98.8 yards per game with eight rushing touchdowns, eight runs of 20 or more yards and just one tote of 40 or more yards.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) has a bit of a steep price tag in FantasyScore given the matchup, but if you must go with a Denver back Anderson is slightly more appealing than Ronnie Hillman ($6,200, 12.4% of cap). Anderson is the hammer who will be used in goal-line situations, and he scored the only offensive TD in their win over Pittsburgh from 1-yard out in the fourth quarter.

Broncos | Denver run game had success against Pats

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 13:37:39 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson combined to rush for 172 yards in a Week 12 win over the New England Patriots. Anderson closed out the divisional round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers running well, and he could see the ball more often early against the Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots weren't the best fantasy matchup for running backs all year, but Denver had one of their best rushing games of the season against New England in bad weather. Anderson definitely looked much better against the Steelers, so it would certainly make sense for him to see more work early. But the Broncos have split the carries pretty evenly between both backs all year.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson runs well

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 17:08:44 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson carried 15 times for 72 yards and a touchdown and two catches for 11 yards in a 23-16 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has played well the last two games with Peyton Manning back under center, but he will have a tough test in the conference title game against a New England defense that ranked in the top 10 against the run during the regular season.
