Broncos | C.J. Anderson ready to be bell-cow RB?

Thu, 11 Feb 2016 12:23:55 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent RB C.J. Anderson thinks he can be a bell-cow running back after rushing 23 times and catching four passes for 100 total yards from scrimmage in the Super Bowl.

"You know, we chose to go the two-back route and we chose to split time with me and Ronnie (Hillman) and just try to get a change of pace. You know, keep defenses off balance. But I mean if they want me to touch the ball 25 times, 27 times, 28 times, either way whether it's all carries or carries and catches I believe I can handle it always, whether it's being a third-down back catching the ball out of the backfield or picking up the blitz and also being first- and second-down just every-down back," Anderson said.

Fantasy Tip: Both Anderson and Hillman are due for free agency this spring, and Anderson is the better bet to remain in Denver. His breakout came in 2014 when he ran 179 times for 849 yards and eight scores, and he could return to similar numbers if he's the go-to running back in 2016.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson starting

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 14:56:43 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will be the starting running back against the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has been a solid part of the offense but has not been in the starting lineup for several months. Anderson has rushed for 72 yards in each of the two playoff games and will have plenty of chances to produce in Super Bowl 50.

Broncos | Denver running game has been producing

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 16:27:15 -0800

The Denver Broncos have averaged 29.9 rushing attempts and 128.0 rushing yards (eight touchdowns) in their last nine games with RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman. The Broncos are unbeaten when they record at least 30 rushes and 130-plus rushing yards in a game this season. Anderson has been the more productive runner in a featured role.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson and Hillman complement each other well, and both will see plenty of opportunities to make a difference on offense in the Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers unless the Panthers get out to a big lead early.

Broncos | Will Denver's running backs stay?

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 13:33:21 -0800

Denver Broncos impending free-agent RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson are both slated to become free agents this offseason. Anderson, however, will be a restricted free agent, so he'll be easier to bring back than Hillman, who will be an unrestricted free agent.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos may want to keep both backs, but Anderson seems more likely to stay. Hillman had his fair share of success in 2015, but he's built somewhat of a reputation for fumbling the football and has a relatively small frame for a running back. With Peyton Manning possibly retiring and at least one running back possibly leaving, the Broncos could have a very new look on offense next season.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson runs well

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 16:28:28 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson finished with 16 carries for 72 yards and three catches for 18 yards in a 20-18 win over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson continued his late-season surge, and while he didn't live up to expectations this year, he is still a RB2 candidate heading into 2016.

Patriots | Dont'a Hightower the X-factor?

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 15:50:55 -0800

The Denver Broncos were only able to run for 46 yards and no touchdowns on 16 carries with New England Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower in the game in their Week 12 matchup. After Hightower left due to an injury, Broncos RBs C.J. Anderson and Ronnie Hillman piled up 133 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. LB Jamie Collins also missed that game.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) finished the divisional round running better than Hillman ($6,200, 12.4% of cap), so he could see more early work against the Patriots. The Broncos will mix both in, but with Hightower and Collins playing, yards on the ground may be tough to come by.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson has uphill battle

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 18:52:58 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson will meet the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. The Patriots ranked eighth in the NFL against the run during the regular season, giving up just 98.8 yards per game with eight rushing touchdowns, eight runs of 20 or more yards and just one tote of 40 or more yards.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) has a bit of a steep price tag in FantasyScore given the matchup, but if you must go with a Denver back Anderson is slightly more appealing than Ronnie Hillman ($6,200, 12.4% of cap). Anderson is the hammer who will be used in goal-line situations, and he scored the only offensive TD in their win over Pittsburgh from 1-yard out in the fourth quarter.

Broncos | Denver run game had success against Pats

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 13:37:39 -0800

Denver Broncos RBs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson combined to rush for 172 yards in a Week 12 win over the New England Patriots. Anderson closed out the divisional round win over the Pittsburgh Steelers running well, and he could see the ball more often early against the Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots weren't the best fantasy matchup for running backs all year, but Denver had one of their best rushing games of the season against New England in bad weather. Anderson definitely looked much better against the Steelers, so it would certainly make sense for him to see more work early. But the Broncos have split the carries pretty evenly between both backs all year.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson runs well

Sun, 17 Jan 2016 17:08:44 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson carried 15 times for 72 yards and a touchdown and two catches for 11 yards in a 23-16 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round of the playoffs Sunday, Jan. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Anderson has played well the last two games with Peyton Manning back under center, but he will have a tough test in the conference title game against a New England defense that ranked in the top 10 against the run during the regular season.

Broncos | C.J. Anderson has momentum

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 10:32:41 -0800

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson is averaging 6.4 yards per carry since Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos will look to get the run game going in the divisional round against the Pittsburgh Steelers in order to take pressure off of Peyton Manning. While Pittsburgh's run defense has been strong this year, Anderson ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) shouldn't be overlooked.
