San Francisco 49ers DL Quinton Dial, the team's fifth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, is no lock to make the roster out of training camp. The team has DE Cornellius Carradine, DL Glenn Dorsey, DL Ray McDonald and DL Justin Smith as locks to make the roster, and DL Ian Williams looking good for a backup job since the team gave him a $1 million contract extension. That leaves Dial, DL Demarcus Dobbs and DL Will Tukuafu battling for jobs.

University of Alabama DE Quinton Dial (toe) recently underwent toe surgery and will be out for a few months. Dial is expected to take part in only the medical exams at the NFL Scouting Combine.
