Chiefs | KC receiver depth still unsettled

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:43:02 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WRs Albert Wilson, Chris Conley, Rod Streater, De'Anthony Thomas and Tyreek Hill will all compete for playing time behind WR Jeremy Maclin. Head coach Andy Reid liked what he saw from Wilson and Conley during offseason workouts, though.

Fantasy Tip: Wilson and Conley probably have an inside edge with their experience and familiarity with the system. Maclin is really the only Chiefs receiver with any real fantasy value, but Wilson and Conley are worth a look as a WR5.

Chiefs | Big plays rare for De'Anthony Thomas

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 21:48:11 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR De'Anthony Thomas' longest play from scrimmage in 22 games is 36 yards, and he is averaging just 7.4 yards per catch.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas' biggest asset is his big-play speed, but unfortunately, he hasn't been able to produce many big plays. He is nothing more than a late-round flier at this point.

Chiefs | De'Anthony Thomas not in trade talks

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 13:29:21 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR De'Anthony Thomas has not been involved in trade talks with the San Francisco 49ers, according to Chiefs general manager John Dorsey.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is a former Oregon Duck, which would make some sense with former Oregon coach Chip Kelly now in San Fran. Thomas has been more of a special teams contributor in his two seasons in the NFL, and he caught just 17 passes for 140 yards with a touchdown in 2015. He's unlikely to garner any fantasy interest anytime soon.

Chiefs | De'Anthony Thomas still recovering

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 00:00:58 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR De'Anthony Thomas (concussion) said Wednesday, Jan. 20, on his official Twitter account that he is "still trying to recover from my concussion." There have been conflicting reports from the team about Thomas' status.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas wasn't much of a fantasy factor, and his status is up in the air for 2016. Even with a change of scenery it's hard to see him making much of an impact.

Fantasy Tip: Avant ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Thomas ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) aren't real solid options against the Denver Broncos on FantasyScore.

Kansas City Chiefs WRs Jason Avant (hip) and De'Anthony Thomas (calf) both practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Sept. 11, and are probable for Week 1 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Both Avant ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Thomas ($2,000) don't figure to see enough targets in Week 1 to be worth considering in daily games.

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 16:12:17 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jason Avant (hip) and WR De'Anthony Thomas (calf) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Avant ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Thomas ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will serve as backups if they are active for the game and should see some time on the field. Neither player is a great option in fantasy leagues since they will see limited targets.

Fantasy Tip: Avant ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Thomas ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be active for the game but probably will see limited playing time. Neither player likely will be strong options for owners on FantasyScore.

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 20:22:54 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR De'Anthony Thomas (calf) worked during the early portion of practice Monday, Aug. 31, but he left the field during full-team drills. He is nursing a calf injury.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is simply trying to make the squad and find meaningful snaps. Unless injuries take a serious toll on the receivers he is best left to the waiver wire in most fantasy formats.

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 12:40:20 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR De'Anthony Thomas has switched from a running back to a wide receiver this offseason. Thomas likes the change. "It makes me more valuable to the offense. It lets defenses look for me, see where I'm at on the field," Thomas said. "It just gives them a different look. I believe it's a great thing." Thomas only ran for 113 yards and one touchdown on 14 attempts behind RBs Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis last season.

Kansas City Chiefs RB De'Anthony Thomas (hamstring) is expected to make his regular season debut in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers after missing the first four games due to a hamstring injury. Special teams coach Dave Toub is reasonably confident Thomas will perform well in a punt-return role. "We got him back there enough where he had to make some catches, he made some people miss, he got hit one time and spun out and got a touchdown," Toub said. "He's got a little bit on tape, so people know about him."
