Los Angeles Dodgers OF Will Venable was designated for assignment Friday, June 24. In a corresponding move, SP Nick Tepesch was recalled to start against the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday.
Fantasy Tip: Tepesch hasn't pitched in the majors since 2014, and he has a career 4.53 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 5.5 K/9 through 39 starts. There is minimal fantasy value here. Venable can be replaced in all seasonal formats.

Los Angeles Dodgers SP Nick Tepesch will be promoted to start Friday, June 24, against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Fantasy Tip: Tepesch is 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA at Class AAA Oklahoma City with 17 K's in 18 innings. That strikeout rate is much higher than earlier in the season with Round Rock when he struck out 31 in 65 2/3 innings. He has some upside with the Dodgers' lineup, and he's an NL-only grab.

Texas Rangers SPs Jeremy Guthrie and Nick Tepesch are among the candidates for the fifth spot in the rotation this spring along with SPs Chi Chi Gonzalez, A.J. Griffin, Nick Martinez, Cesar Ramos and Anthony Ranaudo.
Fantasy Tip: The winner of the No. 5 rotation spot will be worth a look in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues, while the losers are headed to the bullpen or minors and should be avoided for now.

Texas Rangers SPs Nick Tepesch, Nick Martinez, Alex Gonzalez, Anthony Ranaudo, Lisalverto Bonilla and Ross Ohlendorf are expected to compete for the final spot in the team's starting rotation.
Fantasy Tip: SPs Derek Holland, Yovani Gallardo, Colby Lewis and Ross Detwiler are expected to have the top four spots in the rotation locked up, in the wake of the injury to Yu Darvish (elbow). At this point, it appears that none of the six starters competing for the final rotation spot has an edge over the others, so keep checking back between now and the end of spring training for further updates.

Texas Rangers SP Nick Tepesch will compete with SP Ross Detwiler and others to earn the fifth spot in the rotation out of camp.
Fantasy Tip: The Rangers have a bunch of arms vying for a spot in the rotation, but Tepesch showed improvement last season. If he wins a job he could be a nice FantasyScore sleeper when the matchup is favorable.

Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said the team is continuing to look for starting pitching even after the acquisition of SP Ross Detwiler. "We've got a number of internal options coming to compete for a spot, all of them that we like," Daniels said. "But you can never have enough and we'll continue having conversations about adding another starter." The Rangers already have SPs Yu Darvish, Derek Holland, Colby Lewis, Detwiler, Nick Martinez and Nick Tepesch on their roster and minor league SPs Alex Gonzalez and Luke Jackson could also compete for a job during spring training.
