Red Sox | Eduardo Rodriguez handed no-decision

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 18:52:27 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez took a no-decision for his start Wednesday, July 27, opposite the Detroit Tigers. The southpaw went 5 1/3 innings, surrendering three runs on nine hits and three walks. He also struck out six.

Fantasy Tip: Not a very pleasant outing, but it certainly could've been worse given the amount of baserunners Rodriguez permitted throughout this effort. While he does have some promise, it's hard to invest in the 23-year-old lefty right now, as he's allowed three or more runs in six of his nine starts this season.

Marlins | Miami interested in Eduardo Rodriguez

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 08:28:38 -0700

The Miami Marlins have expressed interest in trading for Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez. However, it is believed that he is unavailable.

Fantasy Tip: The 23-year-old left-hander is 2-4 with a 6.70 ERA through eight starts but missed most of the first two months of the season because of a knee injury. Despite his struggles, he should be rostered in AL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues because he possesses a great deal of upside.

Red Sox | Eduardo Rodriguez tagged with loss

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 19:33:32 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez (2-4) allowed two runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Minnesota Twins Friday, July 22, with one walk and eight strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Although Rodriguez's overall numbers this season look terrible, he has posted a respectable 2.19 ERA in two starts since the All-Star break. He's worth owning in the majority of seasonal leagues based on his potential.

Red Sox | Eduardo Rodriguez shines in return

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 17:22:46 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez picked up the win in his first start since June 27, allowing one run on four hits while walking two and striking out one over seven innings against the New York Yankees Saturday, July 16.

Fantasy Tip: As bad as Rodriguez was prior to being sent to the minors, he should be owned in most mixed formats based on potential alone.

Red Sox | Eduardo Rodriguez's delivery improving

Thu, 14 Jul 2016 20:51:22 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez (knee) looked healthier in his last two rehab starts, according to Class AAA Pawtucket manager Bob Kipper, and Kipper said Rodriguez's knee was holding up and allowing him to execute the "athletic" deliver he used prior to his knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez really struggled in his return to the majors, but he should only improve as his knee returns to 100%. He offers plenty of upside and should be stashed in all but the shallowest of leagues.

Red Sox | Eduardo Rodriguez to start Friday

Tue, 12 Jul 2016 17:02:06 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez will be recalled from Class AAA Pawtucket in order to start against the New York Yankees Friday, July 15.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez struggled during his time with the Red Sox last month and has an 8.59 ERA in six starts. Owners in all leagues probably should avoid him until he has a few solid starts in a row.

Red Sox | Manager talks Eduardo Rodriguez demotion

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 14:20:44 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez's demotion to Class AAA Pawtucket is open-ended, and the notion Rodriguez will only make one start with Pawtucket is "aggressive," according to manager John Farrell.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez allowed 29 runs over 29 1/3 innings through his six starts, so there are clearly a laundry list of shortcomings in his game. It isn't out of the question to stash him in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, but he has a lot of work to do and expectations should be kept in check. He might not even resurface with Boston in 2016.

Red Sox | Eduardo Rodriguez being sent down

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 08:52:58 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez was optioned to Class AAA Pawtucket after he allowed nine runs on 11 hits in just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Tampa Bay Rays Monday, June 27. Rodriguez missed the first two months with a knee injury, but he had allowed at least four runs in five of his six starts. He hasn't trusted his offspeed pitches and his mechanics have been off because of his previous knee injury. Better control of his slider is a key point of emphasis for Rodriguez to work on in the minors. One possibility to take Rodriguez's rotation spot next Tuesday against the Texas Rangers is SP Aaron Wilkerson, who sports a 2.20 ERA in six starts with Pawtucket.

Fantasy Tip: There was a lot of hope from fantasy owners for E-Rod after his impressive rookie season, but the knee injury he suffered in spring training has really hurt his season thus far. There is time for him to turn things around if he fixes his issues in the minors, but he can be let go of for now in mixed leagues.

Red Sox | Eduardo Rodriguez solid in no-decision

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 22:59:51 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez allowed four runs -- three earned -- on four hits in six innings against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, June 22. The lefty walked two and fanned a season-best seven.

Fantasy Tip: This was easily Rodriguez's best start of June, and had Koji Uehara not melted down in the eighth, Rodriguez would've evened his record at 2-2. He's definitely worth stashing in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues, and with a start against the Rays on tap, optimists might want to slot him into their active lineup this Monday.

Red Sox | Eduardo Rodriguez's start pushed back

Sat, 18 Jun 2016 17:53:36 -0700

Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez will have his next start pushed back from Tuesday, June 21, to Wednesday, June 22, in order to have an extra bullpen session to work on his delivery. SP Clay Buchholz will start Tuesday, June 21, against the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Buchholz is a roll-of-the-dice DFS option in his return to the rotation, but Rodriguez should probably be left on the bench until he proves he is back on track.
