Colts | Just two grabs for Jack Doyle

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 15:11:42 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle posted two catches for nine yards on five targets in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle had been humming right along with five or more receptions in each of the past five games, but he posted a season-low in yardage in this one. Despite the ugly outing he remains a low-end TE1 in most fantasy leagues, but you'll need to make alternate plans in Week 11 with the team on a bye.

Wed, 08 Nov 2017 05:56:48 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle has 33 catches for 278 yards and two touchdowns in the last five weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle ranks fourth in PPR leagues at the position during the stretch. He has a tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, though, in Week 10.

Colts | Eight grabs for Jack Doyle

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 15:15:17 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle hauled in eight receptions for 63 yards in Week 9 against the Houston Texans on nine targets.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle has five or more receptions in each of his past five outings, and 44 or more yards in each of his past four contests. He is a solid low-end TE1 in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 10 against the Steelers.

Colts | Jack Doyle goes off in road loss

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 18:17:46 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle racked up 12 receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets in Week 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle had several drops in Week 3, and a poor game on national television in Week 6, although he did end up with a score in that game. Since the poor game in Week 3 he has pulled it together with five or more receptions in each of his past four outings, including his giant stat line Sunday. He is back as a TE1 in all fantasy leagues, as he is playing inspired again.

Colts | Jack Doyle leads way with 44 yards

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 15:47:19 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle finished with six receptions for 44 yards on seven targets in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle had a disastrous game on Monday night in Tennessee with several drops, so he gathered himself and rebounded nicely to lead the team in yardage. But it was an ugly day all around for the Indy offense. He remains a low-end TE1 heading into Week 8 against the Bengals.

Colts | Jack Doyle registers his best game of '17

Mon, 16 Oct 2017 21:57:32 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle recorded seven grabs for 50 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 6 game Monday, Oct. 16, opposite the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Overall, Doyle drew a season-high 11 targets from Jacoby Brissett, making it easier for him to post his biggest stat line of the campaign. He hasn't quite developed into the TE1 that some were pegging him to be after his breakout a year ago, but he can still be a solid option in certain spots. His production should also become more consistent once Andrew Luck (shoulder) returns.

Sat, 14 Oct 2017 13:28:53 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion, neck) fully participated in practice Saturday, Oct. 14, and is not on the injury report for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle will return after a one-game absence and should have a solid role in the passing game against the Tennessee Titans. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues.

Colts | Jack Doyle cleared for MNF

Sat, 14 Oct 2017 10:08:34 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion, neck) has been cleared to play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle is a serviceable but low-end TE1 play this week against the Titans, who have coughed up decent production to "name" tight ends on the few occasions they have forced to face one this season. In general, Tennessee has been borderline awful against the pass lately. That alone does not make Doyle a strong DFS option by any stretch this week, however.

Colts | Full practice for Jack Doyle

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 13:29:33 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion, neck) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle appears to be on track to play against the Tennessee Titans as long as he does not suffer a setback. He has been targeted at least five times in each of his last three games but has been held to under 30 yards in each of the last two games. Owners should be able to find better options to use and can keep Doyle on the bench.

Colts | Jack Doyle has full practice

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 13:17:43 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion, neck) participated fully in practice Thursday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle has done nothing so far to prove that he needs to be started, at least not without Andrew Luck. Keep benching Doyle until Luck's long-awaited return. Even then, Doyle will be a fringe TE1.

S Matthias Farley (quad), RB Frank Gore (rest), C Ryan Kelly (foot), RB Marlon Mack (shoulder), OL Jack Mewhort (rest), CB Christopher Milton (hamstring), LB Anthony Walker Jr. (hamstring) and CB Quincy Wilson (knee) each logged a full practice Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

Colts | Jack Doyle ruled out

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 11:10:27 -0700

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a surprise after the Colts added Henry Krieger-Coble to the roster Friday. Doyle's neck reportedly stiffened up on Thursday, which caused him to miss practice Friday. Brandon Williams will start in his place, but he does not warrant consideration in fantasy leagues against the defense that has defended the position better than any other team in the league so far.

Colts | No practice for Jack Doyle on Friday

Fri, 06 Oct 2017 09:18:24 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion) did not practice on Friday, Oct. 6, after getting in limited sessions the previous two days, making it likely he will miss the first game in his NFL career in Week 5 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Outside of a surprise Week 2 eight-catch explosion versus the Arizona Cardinals, Doyle hasn't been worth using in fantasy this year with Scott Tolzien and Jacoby Brissett under center. With Erik Swoope already sidelined until midseason, it leaves Brandon Williams as the next man up at tight end. He will not be worth using in Doyle's absence.

Colts | Jack Doyle limited at practice again

Thu, 05 Oct 2017 17:45:34 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion, neck) was limited at practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle is actually tied for the team-lead with 17 catches through the season's first four weeks, but he's not the ideal TE1 to roll with given the Colts' troubles at quarterback. Until Andrew Luck (shoulder) returns, Doyle could be a boom-or-bust proposition at tight end. He also still doesn't have a touchdown.

Colts | Jack Doyle limited

Wed, 04 Oct 2017 14:37:21 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle will need to pass his concussion tests before he is cleared to play against the San Francisco 49ers. He has been targeted at least five times in each of the last three games and could be low-end No. 1 tight end if he is active for the game.

Colts | Jack Doyle in protocol

Tue, 03 Oct 2017 06:48:49 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (concussion) is in the concussion protocol following the Week 4 game.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle had five grabs for 27 yards last week, and he has a decent matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5. He'd be a good bye-week filler if he's able to go.

Colts | Jack Doyle pulls down five balls

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 21:11:00 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle posted five catches for 27 yards on seven targets in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle has some TE1 value depending on the matchup, but this wasn't a very favorable game against the Seattle defense. Luckily, a matchup against the defensively-challenged 49ers looms on the horizon in Week 5.

Colts | Jack Doyle not on injury report

Fri, 29 Sep 2017 16:36:02 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (foot) fully participated in practice and is not on the injury report for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle was held to only 16 yards in the last game but should see a decent amount of targets against the Seattle Seahawks. Owners in deeper leagues could consider Doyle as a low-end No. 1 tight end, but he can be benched if owners have better options.

RB Marlon Mack (shoulder) took part in a limited practice for the second straight day and has also been ruled out. S Matthias Farley (quad) did not practice Friday, while CB Christopher Milton (hamstring) was limited for the second straight day; both have been listed as questionable. WR Kamar Aiken (concussion), OG Deyshawn Bond (ankle), CB Vontae Davis (groin), TE Jack Doyle (foot), RB Frank Gore (rest) and OL Jack Mewhort (rest) each participated fully in practice Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Colts | Jack Doyle limited Thursday

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 14:03:17 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (foot) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle has had a rough go so far in 2017 without Andrew Luck. His lone bright spot came in Week 2 with eight catches for 79 yards, but he's just not the same player with Luck out. Doyle is a risky low-end TE1 this week who should be viewed as more of a high-end TE2.

Colts | Jack Doyle limited in practice

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 14:26:51 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (foot) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Sept. 27, due to a foot ailment.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle posted eight receptions for 79 yards in Week 2 against the Cardinals, jelling nicely with Jacoby Brissett, but he was limited to just two grabs for 16 yards with a lost fumble last week. Until he starts playing more consistently, treat him more as a TE2 in most fantasy leagues.

Colts | Jack Doyle quiet in Week 3 win

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 14:10:42 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle managed just two catches for 16 yards on five targets in Week 4 against the Browns. He also lost a fumble.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle's fantasy production was disappointing considering the Colts were able to rack up 31 points on offense in a favorable matchup. Don't expect much more in the way of stats when the Colts travel to meet the Seahawks in Week 4.

Colts | Jack Doyle perfect in Week 2

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 15:41:48 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle caught all eight of his passes for 79 yards in a 16-13 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts' QB situation makes this a difficult call, but the fact is Doyle put up strong numbers in this game. For now, Doyle remains a decent TE2 option who could improve as the Colts get more solid at the QB spot.

Colts | Jack Doyle taking on leadership role

Thu, 01 Jun 2017 09:24:46 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle said he is trying to "improve" in the area of being a leader in order to help the team, as he's by far the longest-tenured tight end on the roster. "He's a reliable, reliable guy," head coach Chuck Pagano said. "The quarterback has a ton of faith and trust in that guy. He's always where he's supposed to be, and that makes a huge difference."

Fantasy Tip: Doyle's newfound leadership role could be important for fantasy purposes, as it may help keep him in the TE1 conversation if he's getting consistent looks from quarterback Andrew Luck. Last season, Doyle registered career highs in catches (59), receiving yards (584) and touchdowns (five), and with Dwayne Allen dealt away, it's possible he crafts together another campaign with similar numbers.

Colts | Details on Jack Doyle's contract

Tue, 07 Mar 2017 17:03:12 -0800

Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle's three-year contract is worth $19 million with an extra $2 million possible with incentives, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, Doyle was barely in TE1 territory last season despite sharing snaps with Dwayne Allen. In what should be a similar situation this year, Doyle remains a low-end TE1 to high-end TE2 candidate.

Colts | Jack Doyle staying with Colts

Tue, 07 Mar 2017 16:45:55 -0800

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Jack Doyle agreed to terms on a three-year deal with the Colts Tuesday, March 7, according to a source. Financial details were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle came out of nowhere last year to finish in TE1 territory, even while splitting time with Dwayne Allen. A similar situation could unfold this season, but Doyle should still be considered a low-end TE1 to high-end TE2.

Colts | Jack Doyle will be a free agent

Tue, 28 Feb 2017 13:03:38 -0800

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Jack Doyle will test the free-agent market despite the Colts' attempts to re-sign him, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Look for Doyle to garner plenty of interest in free agency in what is a relatively weak free-agent group of tight ends. Doyle jumped onto the fantasy radar last year even while splitting time with Dwayne Allen. As a matter of fact, Doyle finished in TE1 territory, playing in all 16 games. Depending on where he plays, Doyle is a low-end TE1 to high-end TE2 consideration.

Jaguars | Jacksonville may look at several TEs

Wed, 22 Feb 2017 15:02:07 -0800

Green Bay Packers impending free-agent TE Jared Cook, Arizona Cardinals impending free-agent TE Jermaine Gresham and Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Jack Doyle could receive interest from the Jacksonville Jaguars during free agency.

Fantasy Tip: The Jaguars have agreed to trade Julius Thomas to the Miami Dolphins and do not have a replacement on their roster, so they will be looking to add another tight end this offseason. The Jaguars likely will use their tight end in the passing game but that player should only be considered a No. 2 tight end in most leagues.

Colts | Jack Doyle could land big deal

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 20:52:16 -0800

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Jack Doyle could receive a contract in the neighborhood of $5 million to $7 million annually, according to Jim Ayello, of The Indianapolis Star. He would be due $9.84 million in 2017 should the Colts chose to tag him, which appears unlikely.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle enjoyed a breakout season in 2016, but even with the salary cap increase, such a deal seems awfully steep. Monitor his movement; in the right situation, Doyle could become a weekly starting consideration for fantasy purposes.

Colts | Jack Doyle likely to test free-agent waters

Sat, 11 Feb 2017 15:05:54 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle is expected to have several suitors in free agency following his breakout 2016 season in which he finished with 59 catches for 584 yards and five touchdowns, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts absolutely love what Doyle brings to the locker room and it should be noted he pretty much rivaled Coby Fleener's best seasons in Indy with the year he just had. However, Dwayne Allen received a huge four-year contract last season and isn't going anywhere, while the Colts are high on the upside of Erik Swoope, With all the help Indianapolis needs on defense, it is possible Doyle will be allowed to walk if he doesn't agree to a team-friendly deal.

Colts | Competition for Jack Doyle

Thu, 09 Feb 2017 19:54:10 -0800

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent TE Jack Doyle will likely have multiple suitors in free agency, according to beat writer Stephen Holder.

Fantasy Tip: Despite sharing duties with Dwayne Allen, Doyle emerged as a viable weapon in the passing game. If he is given the chance to be the No. 1 tight end somewhere, he could be a TE1 candidate in 2017.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 19:53:11 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle managed five receptions for 46 yards on seven targets in the Week 16 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle, in a contract season, has managed 57 catches for 574 yards and four scores, including four or more grabs in each of his past four outings. He has shown glimpses of brilliance and TE1 potential in fantasy leagues this season.

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 18:19:23 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle managed four receptions for 32 yards on four targets in the Week 15 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle has managed 13 receptions for 117 yards over the past three games, but he hasn't visited the end zone since Week 7. He is best used in deeper PPR fantasy leagues heading into Week 16.

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 21:48:42 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle posted five receptions for 55 yards in the Week 14 game against the Houston Texans. He was targeted six times.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle had his most receiving yards at home since Week 3. He hasn't visited the end zone since Oct. 23, though, and he should be treated as more of a TE2 in fantasy right now.

Colts | Jack Doyle comes up just short

Mon, 05 Dec 2016 21:19:27 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle had four receptions for 30 yards in the Week 13 game against the New York Jets Monday, Dec. 5. He nearly had a touchdown, stretching for the goal line near the end of the first quarter. However, he stretched for the pylon, lost the ball before it crossed the plane and fumbled it out of the end zone for a touchback.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle was outshined by Dwayne Allen, who had three touchdowns and 72 yards on his four catches and targets. The re-emergence of Allen is not good for the fantasy prospects of Doyle heading into Week 14 and beyond.

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 21:08:39 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle posted five receptions for 61 yards with a team-high nine targets in the Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle was targeted frequently, and he continues to be a solid stream option for fantasy owners looking for a bye-week replacement. However, he has a bye himself in Week 10.

Colts | Andrew Luck strong against Titans

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 14:34:03 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns, including a go-ahead strike to WR Jack Doyle with less than two minutes to go, in a 34-26 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Luck has never lost to the Titans, so why start now? Luck is a QB1 for sure despite his injury struggles in recent years, but he is an absolute must start against the Titans.

Colts | Andrew Luck looking to his tight ends

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 18:59:28 -0700

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck targeted TE Dwayne Allen and TE Jack Doyle a combined 10 times in Week 1, resulting in eight completions for 88 yards and three touchdowns, and Luck said he wants to attack defenses in multiple ways this season.

Fantasy Tip: The Colts draw a tough matchup with Denver in Week 2, and if you have a decent alternative to Allen, you should plug them in.

Colts | Dwayne Allen may be on field more

Fri, 27 May 2016 09:28:56 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Dwayne Allen could see the field considerably more in the upcoming season, as new offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski may elect not to use as many multiple tight-end sets as former offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. The players listed behind Allen on the depth chart are all unproven, being TEs Jack Doyle, Erik Swoope and Darion Griswold.

Fantasy Tip: Allen has flashed notable potential over the past few years, but was never really able to break out while splitting time with Coby Fleener. Now that Fleener is out of town, Allen will be in a nice position to make his mark, and as long as a healthy Andrew Luck remains under center, he could end up being a great value pick later in drafts. Certainly keep an eye on this situation.

Colts | Jack Doyle signs tender

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 07:29:36 -0700

Indianapolis Colts restricted free-agent TE Jack Doyle signed his tender Thursday, April 14.

Fantasy Tip: Doyle could sneak into the fantasy picture behind starter Dwayne Allen. He's probably just a watch list player, but he could carve a big enough role to be a bye-week replacement.

Colts | Indy's No. 2 TE job Jack Doyle's to lose

Fri, 01 Apr 2016 18:51:21 -0700

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle will have the first shot at being the No. 2 tight end in 2016 with TE Coby Fleener signing with the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Tip: Even in an expanded role, Doyle is unlikely to make a worthwhile impact for fantasy owners unless Dwayne Allen misses time for some reason.

Colts | Jack Doyle could have bigger role

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 14:46:41 -0800

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle may see an increase in usage in 2016 and could assume the backup tight end position if one of impending free-agent TEs Coby Fleener or Dwayne Allen don't re-sign.

Fantasy Tip: If Fleener or Allen doesn't return, then Doyle will indubitably see more snaps next season, but still probably not enough to warrant starter consideration.
