Chiefs | Travis Kelce has big game on MNF

Mon, 30 Oct 2017 22:03:02 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce registered seven receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 8 game Monday, Oct. 30, against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: The receiving yards were a season high for the monstrous tight end, and the touchdown was his fourth of the season. Kelce is unquestionably one of the most talented at his position in all of pro football, and he continues to prove it on a weekly basis. Just keep firing him up as your TE1 for those who are fortunate enough to have him on the roster.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce finds the end zone

Thu, 19 Oct 2017 22:28:35 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce had four catches for 33 yards and a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: It was the second straight game of less than 40 yards receiving for Kelce, but at least he managed to supplement his production with a touchdown this time. Next up is the Broncos, a team Kelce dominated to the tune of 19 receptions, 261 yards and a score in two games last season. Keep him plugged in as your starting TE.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce pulls down four balls

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 19:11:41 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce racked up four receptions for 37 yards on seven targets in the Week 6 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: The yardage total was Kelce's second-lowest mark of the season, and he has now failed to score touchdowns in back-to-back games for the first time. He'll get a chance to redeem himself to fantasy owners in Week 7 in a short week against the Raiders on Thursday night.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Chris Conley (Achilles'), OL Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (knee), OL Mitch Morse (foot) and S Steven Terrell (concussion) are ruled out for Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. WR Tyreek Hill (hamstring), LB Justin Houston (calf) and WR Albert Wilson (knee) were limited participants, while LB Dee Ford (back), TE Travis Kelce (concussion) and DL Bennie Logan (knee) practiced in full. Chiefs | Travis Kelce practices fully again

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 10:42:14 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) was able practice fully for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Owners shouldn't consider themselves out of the woods yet, as Kelce's upgrade from no practice on Wednesday to a full practice Thursday is a dramatic jump for a player who supposedly suffered a concussion Sunday night. The increase of activity is a good thing, however. If he is active for Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers - and it appears he is trending in that direction - he should be started in all leagues.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce upgraded to full practice

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 15:39:24 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) was a full participant at practice Thursday, Oct. 12, one day after he did not participate at all.

Fantasy Tip: This is wonderful news for Kelce owners, as this basically assures he'll be out there on Sunday. It's also extra critical he's getting this full practice in because the Chiefs play in one of the late-afternoon contests. As usual, he'll bring TE1 value to the table and owners may be salivating over his potential in this one. In two matchups with Pittsburgh last year (including playoffs), Kelce reeled in 10 of 15 targets for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) has advanced to the next level of the concussion protocol and will practice in limited fashion Thursday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has caught 15 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown in the last two weeks. He's an elite option against the Pittsburgh Steelers if he's cleared.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce a no-go Wednesday

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 10:06:10 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) will not practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a good sign for his Week 6 availability, as some of the steps in the NFL's concussion protocol before getting cleared by an independent neurologist include light aerobic exercise, the introduction of strength training and a return to non-contact activities. There is no evidence yet to suggest Kelce is doing any of that yet, so owners should be prepared to start another tight end this week. A.J. Derby is one readily available option with a good matchup (New York Giants) who might fill the bill.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce being evaluated

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 19:50:12 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) left the Week 5 game against the Houston Texans in the second half due to a possible concussion. He went to the locker room to be evaluated.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce checked out in the first half, but returned briefly. However, he did not come out in the second half. If he is forced to miss time going forward Demetrius Harris might see a bump in targets.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce has big game Monday night

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 22:07:05 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce recorded a season-high 111 receiving yards on seven catches Monday, Oct. 2, versus the Washington Redskins. He also scored his second touchdown of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has been widely regarded as one of the top tight ends in all of football for a couple of years now, and the soon-to-be 28-year-old just continues to back up that reputation. Even when quarterback Alex Smith inevitably regresses from his current peak, Kelce should still maintain above-average numbers, as he continues to serve as a dependable TE1 every week.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce almost blanked in win

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 18:36:20 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce posted just one catch for one yard on his only target in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: There was no word of any kind of injury for Kelce, it just appears the Chargers did a good job of taking him out of the game and forcing Alex Smith to go elsewhere. He'll look to rebound in Week 4 against the Redskins on Monday Night Football.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce over 100 yards receiving in Week 2

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 14:07:16 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught eight passes for 103 yards and scored a go-ahead touchdown on a 15-yard catch as the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-20, on Sunday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce only missed two of his targets, suggesting a solid day for the tight end. He appears to have strong rapport with QB Alex Smith in the Chiefs offense, and that's a big chunk of what you need. Kelce remains a strong TE1 option.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce backs Alex Smith

Sat, 09 Sep 2017 19:37:09 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce endorsed QB Alex Smith as the starting quarterback. "He's my quarterback," Kelce said. "I'll take him every single day of the week, no matter what."

Fantasy Tip: Smith had a monster game against the Patriots in Week 1, but fantasy owners shouldn't overreact. He is still more of a game manager than a playmaker, and he remains a QB2.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce quiet in Week 1

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 21:52:46 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce was held to 40 yards on five receptions against the New England Patriots Thursday, Sept. 7. He added a four-yard carry.

Fantasy Tip: Most of Kelce's meager contributions came on shovel passes, but it's nothing to worry about long term. Bill Belichick's gameplan is always to take away an opponent's top weapon, and Kelce had six performances of fewer than 40 yards in 2016 when he finished with 1,125 receiving yards. Stay the course.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce the focus of the Patriots

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 11:20:49 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce will be the focus of the New England Patriots' defense Thursday, Sept. 7. SS Patrick Chung is expected to cover Kelce for the majority of the game, but there are packages designed to give Chung help with Kelce.

Fantasy Tip: Successfully limiting Kelce would create more opportunities for Tyreek Hill and Chris Conley in the passing game. The bottom line is that the only Chiefs that should be in starting lineups tonight are Kelce, who is still comfortably in TE1 territory, Hill and Kareem Hunt.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce off injury report

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 17:57:44 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (calf) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 6, and is not on the injury report for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce will have a big role in the passing game against the New England Patriots this week and should be a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce remains limited

Tue, 05 Sep 2017 12:57:44 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (calf) was limited in practice Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce should take the field Thursday night as long as there aren't any setbacks leading up to then. The fifth-year tight end is due for a big season, especially with Jeremy Maclin out of town. He's a weekly start unless injured.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce limited Monday

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 15:06:59 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (calf) was limited during practice Monday, Sept. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce missed time during the preseason because of the injury but appears to be on track to play in Week 1. He is one of the more productive tight ends in the NFL and should be a starting option in all leagues.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce returns to practice

Sun, 13 Aug 2017 08:46:18 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce was back at practice Sunday, Aug. 13, after missing the team's preseason opener with knee soreness.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce underwent a microfracture surgery on his knee as a rookie in 2013 and occasionally deals with some swelling, so there is no cause for alarm here. The fourth-year pro is perhaps the safest choice at tight end in fantasy, but his upside will continue to be limited as long as the Chiefs continue to not make him a priority in the red zone. Still, he is a solid choice in the fourth round of most fantasy drafts.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce remains out

Tue, 08 Aug 2017 06:06:02 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) remains out of practice Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has been dealing with swelling in his knee, but it doesn't appear serious yet. He set career highs with 85 grabs for 1,125 yards last season. The only thing that keeps him from the elite tier is his 14 touchdowns in three seasons. He's a very good TE1, but he'll need to see more pay dirt to take the next step.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce works on side

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 17:32:50 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) worked out on the sidelines during practice Monday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has been dealing with swelling in his knee for most of training camp, so the Chiefs are taking things slowly with him. Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation but he has time to recover before the start of the season. Kelce is a No. 1 fantasy tight end if he can stay healthy this season.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce idle Monday

Mon, 07 Aug 2017 07:34:23 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Travis Kelce (knee) is out of practice Monday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce posted career highs with 85 grabs for 1,125 yards last season. The only thing that keeps him from the elite tier is he has just 14 touchdowns in three seasons. He's a very, very good TE1, but he'll need to see more pay dirt to take the next step.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce remains sidelined

Sun, 06 Aug 2017 13:40:53 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce is dealing with swelling in his knee, so he probably will not return until he is 100 percent. He was one of the best tight ends in the NFL last season and should continue to be a focal point in the Chiefs passing game in 2017. He should be a weekly starting option in all fantasy leagues.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce dealing with knee swelling

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 11:44:20 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) has dealt with knee swelling on occasion throughout training camp, although head coach Andy Reid believes he'll be fine because it only flares up "every once in a while."

Fantasy Tip: Kelce underwent a microfracture surgery as a rookie in 2013, so occasional swelling in that same knee shouldn't be considered too alarming, but it is noteworthy nonetheless. Unless the problem persists, however, Kelce can still be drafted as the second tight end overall in fantasy.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce healthy enough for camp

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 14:38:30 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (shoulder) is ready for the start of training camp this week despite recovering from a shoulder injury.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce is a game changer for the Chiefs, so it's vital that he's full go to start the season. He probably won't be pushed too hard in camp or during the preseason. Draft him as a top three tight end assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce should be ready for camp

Thu, 15 Jun 2017 11:42:10 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (shoulder) has a "pretty good chance" of being ready for training camp, according to head coach Andy Reid. Kelce is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and it was originally believed that he would not be healthy enough for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce is the best tight end in the NFL not named Rob Gronkowski. What he lacks in touchdowns he makes up for in receptions and yards. As long as Kelce is at full health by the start of the season, he should be one of the first three tight ends drafted.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce not fully ready for camp

Mon, 17 Apr 2017 12:29:32 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (shoulder) is not expected to be completely healthy before the start of training camp, although he may participate in some light activities, according to head coach Andy Reid. Kelce underwent shoulder surgery earlier this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The Chiefs may take it easy with their star tight end so as to not risky any aggravation. If he avoids any setbacks along the way, he should be full go before the regular season commences. Kelce deserves to be one of the first three tight ends drafted in 2017 after being the top scoring fantasy tight end last season.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce to be ready for training camp

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 17:42:24 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (shoulder) is expected to be "100 percent for training camp," according to general manager John Dorsey, who added that he is "ahead" from a rehabilitation standpoint.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce underwent shoulder surgery in February, but fortunately, it looks like that won't impede the star tight end going into the new season. As a result, owners shouldn't let that affect his status on draft day, as it appears Kelce can be selected with confidence in hopes of him providing top-five production at his position. He's worth the investment given his role in the offense.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce underwent surgery

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 14:24:19 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (shoulder) recently underwent offseason shoulder surgery, according to head coach Andy Reid. Reid said he believes Kelce would miss some offseason workouts but should be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce likely will not be on the field much this offseason but does not appear to be in danger of missing any playing time. He recorded 1,125 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2016 and should be a big part of the team's passing game next season. Kelce should be a weekly starting option for owners and probably will be one of the first tight ends selected in drafts.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce a rare weapon

Sun, 19 Feb 2017 18:52:15 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce ranked second in the NFL with 655 yards after catch in 2016, and he was the only tight end to rank in the top 15 in the category.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce possesses rare athleticism for the tight position, and he has seen his receptions, targets and yards all increase in each of his first three years. You can make a strong argument that Kelce is the safest TE1 heading into 2017.

Sat, 28 Jan 2017 10:59:26 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught 19 passes for 261 yards and one touchdown against the Denver Broncos this season.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce averaged 9.5 catches, 130.5 yards and 0.5 touchdowns against the Broncos this season and led all tight ends with 1,125 yards during the regular season. Kelce should be one of the most attractive tight ends in fantasy leagues next season and should be a weekly starting option.

Sun, 15 Jan 2017 22:25:08 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs WR Travis Kelce had five catches for 77 yards in an 18-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce is a decent TE1 option as long as Alex Smith is at quarterback, because Smith and Kelce have developed a pretty strong rapport together. To get that many yards against the Steelers' vaunted defense is a nice accomplishment.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce set a franchise record for receiving yards by a tight end, catching 11 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown in a 33-10 win over the Denver Broncos Sunday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce torched Denver's linebackers, and he now has five 100-yard games in his last six contests. He has left no doubt he is on the short list of elite fantasy tight ends.

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 20:00:25 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce managed three receptions for 41 yards in the Week 15 game against the Tennessee Titans. He was targeted five times.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce saw his four-game streak of 100-plus games come to an end, but he remains an obvious must-start fantasy option across the board. He has been the most effective TE in all of fantasy lately despite the fact he hasn't visited the end zone since Week 7.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught five of his eight targets for 101 yards in a 21-13 win over the Oakland Raiders Thursday, Dec. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has a steady role in Kansas City's passing attack, and he is one of the few players you can count on to provide TE1 numbers on a weekly basis.

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 14:37:25 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught eight passes for 140 yards against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce posted his third straight 100-yard performance in Week 13 and has been targeted at least seven times in five of his last six games. He has only three touchdowns on the season but should still be considered a No. 1 tight end in all fantasy leagues.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce full go

Wed, 30 Nov 2016 15:53:02 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has been one of the most consistent players on the Chiefs this year and he's on a nice hot streak too. A possible Jeremy Maclin return could mean fewer targets for Kelce, but Alex Smith's safety valve is still easily in TE1 territory.

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 06:21:12 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce had eight catches for 101 yards in Week 12 Sunday, Nov. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has gone over 100 two weeks in a row, but he is now without a touchdown since Week 8 and has just one score in seven games. The Atlanta Falcons have been good against tight ends the last five weeks, so he'll remain a midrange option at the position next week.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce busy in Sunday's loss

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 19:20:54 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce posted seven receptions for a game-high 108 yards in the Week 11 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was targeted nine times, most on his team.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has 100 or more yards in two of his past four games, and he has three or more receptions in four straight, and nine of his 10 games overall. Lately he has looked more the part of TE1 after a bit of a slow start to the season. Week 12 will be difficult in Denver, but he remains a solid fantasy starting option.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce quiet in Week 10

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 14:13:38 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught three passes for 31 yards and added a two-point conversion in Week 10 against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce was ejected last week for throwing his towel at an official, but he returned this week to politely hand the ball to the line judge after his conversion. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to KC in Week 11, when Kelce should be a reasonable fantasy starter.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce fined

Sat, 12 Nov 2016 06:46:55 -0800

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce was fined $24,309 by the National Football League for unsportsmanlike conduct in Week 9's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was ejected after being called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and then throwing his towel in the air in the same manner an official would throw a flag.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce should still be viewed as a TE1 in most fantasy leagues, although his numbers have been somewhat underwhelming. In eight games this season, he has surpassed 58 receiving yards just four times. However, Kelce has become more involved in the passing game recently and Alex Smith will be back behind center for Week 10's contest against the Carolina Panthers, so don't be surprised if he returns to form Sunday.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught five passes for 58 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 9. He was also ejected from the game in the fourth quarter after an incident with an official.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has been more involved in the passing game over the last two weeks but has recorded at least 58 yards in only four of his eight games this season. He should still be considered a No. 1 tight end in most leagues, but he may not be a must-start option.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce caught seven passes for 101 yards Sunday, Oct. 30, in a 30-14 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce exposed a flaw in the Colts' defense. Indianapolis has trouble covering tight ends, so Kelce should be a must play if the defense struggles against tight ends.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce managed just two receptions for 24 yards in the Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints. He was targeted just three times.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has TE1 ability, but lately he has looked anything but that. He had 17 catches for 197 yards and a touchdown in his first three games, but he has just 10 grabs for 79 yards and a score over his past three outings. He 'should' bounce back with a big effort in Week 8 in Indianapolis, as the Colts pass defense is atrocious and Kelce should see plenty of open spaces to get free.
