Chiefs | Travis Kelce pulls down four balls

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 19:11:41 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce racked up four receptions for 37 yards on seven targets in the Week 6 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: The yardage total was Kelce's second-lowest mark of the season, and he has now failed to score touchdowns in back-to-back games for the first time. He'll get a chance to redeem himself to fantasy owners in Week 7 in a short week against the Raiders on Thursday night.

Houston Texans SS Marcus Gilchrist was fined $24,309 by the National Football League for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce in Week 5's game. Kelce sustained a concussion on the play and Gilchrist was given an unnecessary roughness penalty. Gilchrist is appealing the fine.

WR Tyreek Hill (hamstring), LB Justin Houston (calf) and WR Albert Wilson (knee) were limited participants, while LB Dee Ford (back), TE Travis Kelce (concussion) and DL Bennie Logan (knee) practiced in full. Chiefs | Travis Kelce practices fully again

Fri, 13 Oct 2017 10:42:14 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) was able practice fully for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Owners shouldn't consider themselves out of the woods yet, as Kelce's upgrade from no practice on Wednesday to a full practice Thursday is a dramatic jump for a player who supposedly suffered a concussion Sunday night. The increase of activity is a good thing, however. If he is active for Week 6 against the Pittsburgh Steelers - and it appears he is trending in that direction - he should be started in all leagues.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce upgraded to full practice

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 15:39:24 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) was a full participant at practice Thursday, Oct. 12, one day after he did not participate at all.

Fantasy Tip: This is wonderful news for Kelce owners, as this basically assures he'll be out there on Sunday. It's also extra critical he's getting this full practice in because the Chiefs play in one of the late-afternoon contests. As usual, he'll bring TE1 value to the table and owners may be salivating over his potential in this one. In two matchups with Pittsburgh last year (including playoffs), Kelce reeled in 10 of 15 targets for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 09:53:09 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) has advanced to the next level of the concussion protocol and will practice in limited fashion Thursday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has caught 15 passes for 209 yards and a touchdown in the last two weeks. He's an elite option against the Pittsburgh Steelers if he's cleared.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce a no-go Wednesday

Wed, 11 Oct 2017 10:06:10 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) will not practice Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a good sign for his Week 6 availability, as some of the steps in the NFL's concussion protocol before getting cleared by an independent neurologist include light aerobic exercise, the introduction of strength training and a return to non-contact activities. There is no evidence yet to suggest Kelce is doing any of that yet, so owners should be prepared to start another tight end this week. A.J. Derby is one readily available option with a good matchup (New York Giants) who might fill the bill.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce being evaluated

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 19:50:12 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (concussion) left the Week 5 game against the Houston Texans in the second half due to a possible concussion. He went to the locker room to be evaluated.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce checked out in the first half, but returned briefly. However, he did not come out in the second half. If he is forced to miss time going forward Demetrius Harris might see a bump in targets.

Chiefs | Travis Kelce has big game Monday night

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 22:07:05 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce recorded a season-high 111 receiving yards on seven catches Monday, Oct. 2, versus the Washington Redskins. He also scored his second touchdown of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Kelce has been widely regarded as one of the top tight ends in all of football for a couple of years now, and the soon-to-be 28-year-old just continues to back up that reputation. Even when quarterback Alex Smith inevitably regresses from his current peak, Kelce should still maintain above-average numbers, as he continues to serve as a dependable TE1 every week.
