Patriots | Mike Gillislee terms

Tue, 02 May 2017 06:00:08 -0700

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots RB Mike Gillislee's two-year, $6.4 million deal includes $4 million in 2017 via a $1.5 million guaranteed salary, a $2 million roster bonus and $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses. He's scheduled to make $2.4 million in 2018 with a $1.9 million salary and $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee is going to run the ball, but with so many capable backs you have to wonder if 10 carries is the ceiling for him most games. He produced a lot in a little window with 5.7 yards per carry and eight touchdowns in 101 rushes. He'll be a potential flex back with some risk/reward in fantasy.

Patriots | Mike Gillislee will receive carries

Mon, 24 Apr 2017 16:44:43 -0700

New England Patriots RB Mike Gillislee is expected to receive a role like the one free-agent RB LeGarrette Blount (Patriots) had this past season.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee probably will receive a majority of the carries in the running game and likely will only see a few targets in the passing game. He was very successful in his limited playing time in 2017 and could be a No. 3 running back for fantasy owners.

Patriots | Mike Gillislee officially joins Patriots

Mon, 24 Apr 2017 13:05:09 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee's two-year, $6.4 million offer sheet was not matched by the Bills, thus officially making him a member of the New England Patriots, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots' backfield is officially a crapshoot. With Dion Lewis, James White and Rex Burkhead, among others, already in the mix, Gillislee's touches will be limited. Trying to figure out who Bill Belichick will utilize any given week could turn into regret.

Bills | BUF holding off on Mike Gillislee decision

Sat, 22 Apr 2017 08:04:28 -0700

The Buffalo Bills have until Monday, April 24, to decide whether or not they plan on matching the two-year, $6.4 million offer from the New England Patriots for restricted free-agent RB Mike Gillislee.

Fantasy Tip: There is some speculation the Bills are leaning toward matching the Patriots' offer after deciding almost immediately last year he would not do the same with then-RFA Chris Hogan. Buffalo probably also has no desire to lose a productive backup like Gillislee to its division rival just so he can come back and haunt the Bills twice a year for each of the next two seasons. If he remains a Bill, Gillislee would remain one of the top handcuffs in fantasy.

Patriots | Pats offer contract to Mike Gillislee

Tue, 18 Apr 2017 10:40:41 -0700

The New England Patriots have offered Buffalo Bills restricted free-agent RB Mike Gillislee a two-year, $6.4 million contract, according to a source. The first year of the deal is worth $4 million.

Fantasy Tip: Interesting play. The Pats have moved on from LeGarrette Blount, for all intents and purposes, and it appears the Adrian Peterson intrigue has been shelved. Gillislee showed flashes of brilliance as a spell and situational back in 2016. He would be part of a committee in New England, as well. Think RB4 value for now.

Patriots | Mike Gillislee visits New England

Thu, 13 Apr 2017 05:20:58 -0700

Buffalo Bills restricted free-agent RB Mike Gillislee visited the New England Patriots recently, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee ran for a robust 5.7 yards per carry each of the last two seasons, and he scored eight times on the ground last year. He's great in small intervals, but he'll need an injury to LeSean McCoy to see a bigger role in Buffalo. He's an RB4 in fantasy unless that happens.

Buffalo Bills restricted free-agent RB Mike Gillislee is working out with the Bills Monday, April 3. Gillislee is still eligible to be signed to an offer sheet by another team.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee offered a lot of pop in a small sample size with 577 rushing yards (5.7 yards per attempt) and eight scores. He added another touchdown through the air. Gillislee is a tasty flex option in most formats.

Bills | Mike Gillislee receives tender

Mon, 06 Mar 2017 17:41:15 -0800

Buffalo Bills restricted free-agent RB Mike Gillislee has received the original-round tender offer, according to a source. The Bills will try to sign him to a long-term contract.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee appears to have found a good role with the Bills and likely will return to the team for at least one more season. He will receive a solid amount of touches on offense even with LeSean McCoy as the starting running back. Owners in most fantasy leagues should consider him a No. 3 or No. 4 running back.

Fri, 17 Feb 2017 12:51:12 -0800

Buffalo Bills restricted free-agent RB Mike Gillislee could receive a long-term contract this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee should serve as the No. 2 running back for the Bills but will see a decent amount of playing time after finishing 2016 with 577 yards and eight touchdowns. He could be considered a No. 3 or No. 4 running back in fantasy leagues next season.

Bills | Mike Gillislee expected to get tender

Sat, 11 Feb 2017 11:23:53 -0800

Buffalo Bills restricted free-agent RB Mike Gillislee likely will receive a tender offer this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee rushed for 577 yards and eight touchdowns in limited playing time this season. He probably will not receive a lot of work as long as LeSean McCoy is healthy but should receive a handful of touches per game in 2017. He can be a No. 4 running back in some fantasy leagues and can also be a handful to McCoy.

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 14:46:34 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee rushed for 40 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries against the New York Jets in Week 17.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 15:06:35 -0800

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 14:18:29 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee rushed for 37 yards and one touchdown on nine carries against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee has received limited touches over the last month or so but does have three touchdowns in his last three games. He probably should be avoided in all leagues as long as LeSean McCoy is healthy.

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee rushed for 34 yards on two carries against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14.

Bills | Mike Gillislee scores pair of TDs

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 22:36:18 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee rushed eight times for 49 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Week 13 game against the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee can handle the tailback duties if LeSean McCoy should go down again, but he left this game and was able to return. Gillislee is nothing more than a RB3 option heading into Week 14 despite the two scores.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee was a limited participant in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He's unlikely to see many carries this afternoon since LeSean McCoy is healthy, so he can be avoided in all fantasy formats.

Bills | Mike Gillislee limited at practice

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 16:19:44 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (hamstring) was a limited participant at practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee has proven he's capable of being a starting running back in the NFL, which hopefully comes to fruition as early as next season, considering he's shown glimpses of excellence. In the meantime, however, it's hard to count on him for consistent production if he does play as long as LeSean McCoy is healthy and active. McCoy will get a boost if Gillislee has to sit again this weekend.

Bills | LeSean McCoy to play Sunday

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 07:46:30 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (thumb) will play in Week 12's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is expected to see a heavier workload than normal because RB Mike Gillislee (hamstring) will not be active.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy was limited in practice throughout the week while recovering from a dislocated thumb and was listed as questionable on the injury report. He should be viewed as a high-end RB2 in all fantasy formats.

Bills | Mike Gillislee ruled out

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 10:04:39 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (hamstring) will not play Week 12 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: With LeSean McCoy questionable due to thumb surgery earlier this week, the Bills face the real possibility of needing to turn to Reggie Bush and Jonathan Williams at some point this weekend. McCoy is expected to play and is expected to shoulder the load for the ground attack, but it's a good bet he'll cede most of the work in the passing game to Bush.

Bills | Mike Gillislee out again Friday

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 08:25:20 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (hamstring) is out of practice Friday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: He sounds might iffy for the Week 12 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. LeSean McCoy (thumb) might be limited, and Reggie Bush has nine rushes for minus-2 yards on the season. McCoy is an RB2 this week, but it's hard to imagine him being able to make many plays in the passing game after thumb surgery.

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (hamstring) is not participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 24. He injured his hamstring during practice Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee was in line for a solid role on offense in Week 12, but his status seems uncertain at this point. Owners should check on his status later in the weeks but may want to have other options available in case Gillislee is ruled out.

Bills | Mike Gillislee tightens up in practice

Wed, 23 Nov 2016 19:49:42 -0800

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (hamstring) said Wednesday, Nov. 23, that he felt some tightness in his hamstring in practice so he let coaches know. He said he thinks he will be OK and wasn't too concerned.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee would have a larger role in the offense if LeSean McCoy is unable to go or is working in a limited capacity due to his thumb injury. Gillislee would only be worth using in standard formats unless Gillislee is able to return to practice in a full capacity by week's end and McCoy is inactive.

Wed, 23 Nov 2016 16:31:25 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 14:39:39 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee rushed for 72 yards on 14 carries against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee probably will start in Week 12 if LeSean McCoy is ruled out, so owners will need to monitor the situation. Owners should consider Gillislee a No. 2 running back or a flex option if he receives the majority of carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bills | Mike Gillislee gets into end zone

Mon, 07 Nov 2016 21:27:57 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee rushed eight times for 32 yards with a touchdown in the Week 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks Monday, Nov. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee worked in short yardage situations and down around the goal line. He is a decent flex fantasy option in deeper fantasy leagues when LeSean McCoy is healthy, and a RB2 when Shady is on the shelf. All Bills are off in Week 10 with a bye.

Bills | Mike Gillislee solid on ground

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 05:39:10 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee rushed 12 times for 85 yards with a touchdown and caught three passes for nine yards in Week 8 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: He probably could have had a better game if the score was within reach. Gillislee is averaging 6.5 yards per carry this season, and he's worth owning while Shady McCoy (hamstring) is out.

Bills | Buffalo to use committee at running back

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 08:19:19 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee will start Week 8's game against the New England Patriots. However, the team is likely to continue using a rotation which also features RBs Reggie Bush and Jonathan Williams, sticking with the hot hand.

Fantasy Tip: Despite this development, Gillislee still appears likely to receive the bulk of the carries for the Bills this afternoon. He should be viewed as an attractive bye-week option at running back or flex candidate due to the lack of other playmakers on Buffalo's offense.

Bills | Mike Gillislee expected to play

Sat, 29 Oct 2016 13:00:54 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (foot) is expected to play in Week 8 even though he is listed as questionable. Gillislee may be the starting running back if RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is ruled out.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee likely will receive a bigger role on offense even if McCoy is active for the game. He can be a flex option in most leagues because of the number of touches he should receive.

Thu, 20 Oct 2016 07:37:10 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee would start if RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is unable to play in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee has a 17-117-2 line on the season, which is super productive. However, he has never shown featured-back ability. If Shady McCoy is unable to go, Gillislee would be a marginal flex option against the Miami Dolphins.

Bills | Mike Gillislee cleared to return

Tue, 30 Aug 2016 21:52:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (concussion) was at practice on Tuesday, Aug. 30, and indicated he had been cleared and is no longer in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his injury, Gillislee still seems the likely No. 2 back behind LeSean McCoy in Buffalo, which gives him some potential late-round/handcuff appeal.

Bills | Mike Gillislee favored for No. 2 back

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 15:29:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (concussion) is "probably the No. 2 back right now", according to head coach Rex Ryan. Gillislee is still in the concussion protocol, however.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee played pretty well when he was given the opportunity last year, averaging 5.7 yards on 47 carries. He will be competing with Jonathan Williams, Reggie Bush and others, but he's worth a look in the later rounds of deeper leagues, especially for those who are drafting LeSean McCoy.

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (head) left the game following a hard hit at the end of the first quarter on Saturday, Aug. 20, against the New York Giants and is being evaluated for concussion.

Fantasy Tip: There should be another update on Gillislee's status shortly. In the wake of Karlos Williams' release earlier in the day and this injury, rookie Jonathan Williams has a chance to make a move in his quest to secure No. 2 duties behind LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Mike Gillislee expected to be No. 2

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 23:48:53 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee is expected to be the team's No. 2 running back even if the team signs another running back. The job is Gillislee's to lose.

Fantasy Tip: With Karlos Williams suspended four games, Gillislee will have a chance to contribute early in the season. Williams came to camp overweight before the suspension, and it could give Gillislee an extended period to make worth of his RB5 flyer.

Bills | Two Buffalo RBs could earn playing time

Wed, 13 Jul 2016 14:44:05 -0700

Buffalo Bills RBs Mike Gillislee and Jonathan Williams could earn some playing time during training camp if RB Karlos Williams is still overweight when he reports for camp.

Fantasy Tip: Karlos Williams is still expected to have a solid role on offense in 2016, but Jonathan Williams and Gillislee could earn touches with strong preseasons. Karlos Williams should be a late-round option in most leagues, but the other running backs probably should be avoided.

Bills | Karlos Williams has gained weight

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 22:09:43 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams was carrying extra weight during minicamp, and said he ate so his pregnant fiance wouldn't feel bad. He has plenty of time to get into shape, but he'll need to be in top form to hold off hungry RBs Mike Gillislee, James Wilder Jr. and Jonathan Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Williams looked like a No. 1 tailback last season when given the chance to carry the load, but the fact he isn't in top shape is a concern. Wait to see how he shapes up in training camp and the preseason before risking anything more than a late-round flier on him.

Bills | Trio of Buffalo RBs see important reps

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 19:07:55 -0700

Buffalo Bills RBs Mike Gillislee, James Wilder Jr. and Jonathan Williams saw the reps in practice Wednesday, June 15, with RBs LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams sidelined. Williams was most impressive in the practice, showing surprising ability to shift direction and make defenders miss.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy and Karlos Williams are the top two backs, but the rest of the jobs behind them are wide open. We've seen before that the No. 3 back in Buffalo can be valuable, especially with McCoy's propensity for injury of late. For now, the winner of the No. 3 battle isn't worth drafting in most fantasy leagues, but watch the early-season returns and the waiver wire. Know the depth chart in case injury strikes one of the top two.
