Bills | Mike Gillislee cleared to return

Tue, 30 Aug 2016 21:52:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (concussion) was at practice on Tuesday, Aug. 30, and indicated he had been cleared and is no longer in the NFL's concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his injury, Gillislee still seems the likely No. 2 back behind LeSean McCoy in Buffalo, which gives him some potential late-round/handcuff appeal.

Bills | Mike Gillislee favored for No. 2 back

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 15:29:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (concussion) is "probably the No. 2 back right now", according to head coach Rex Ryan. Gillislee is still in the concussion protocol, however.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee played pretty well when he was given the opportunity last year, averaging 5.7 yards on 47 carries. He will be competing with Jonathan Williams, Reggie Bush and others, but he's worth a look in the later rounds of deeper leagues, especially for those who are drafting LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Mike Gillislee leaves with head injury

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 14:17:50 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (head) left the game following a hard hit at the end of the first quarter on Saturday, Aug. 20, against the New York Giants and is being evaluated for concussion.

Fantasy Tip: There should be another update on Gillislee's status shortly. In the wake of Karlos Williams' release earlier in the day and this injury, rookie Jonathan Williams has a chance to make a move in his quest to secure No. 2 duties behind LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Mike Gillislee expected to be No. 2

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 23:48:53 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee is expected to be the team's No. 2 running back even if the team signs another running back. The job is Gillislee's to lose.

Fantasy Tip: With Karlos Williams suspended four games, Gillislee will have a chance to contribute early in the season. Williams came to camp overweight before the suspension, and it could give Gillislee an extended period to make worth of his RB5 flyer.

Bills | Two Buffalo RBs could earn playing time

Wed, 13 Jul 2016 14:44:05 -0700

Buffalo Bills RBs Mike Gillislee and Jonathan Williams could earn some playing time during training camp if RB Karlos Williams is still overweight when he reports for camp.

Fantasy Tip: Karlos Williams is still expected to have a solid role on offense in 2016, but Jonathan Williams and Gillislee could earn touches with strong preseasons. Karlos Williams should be a late-round option in most leagues, but the other running backs probably should be avoided.

Bills | Karlos Williams has gained weight

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 22:09:43 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams was carrying extra weight during minicamp, and said he ate so his pregnant fiance wouldn't feel bad. He has plenty of time to get into shape, but he'll need to be in top form to hold off hungry RBs Mike Gillislee, James Wilder Jr. and Jonathan Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Williams looked like a No. 1 tailback last season when given the chance to carry the load, but the fact he isn't in top shape is a concern. Wait to see how he shapes up in training camp and the preseason before risking anything more than a late-round flier on him.

Bills | Trio of Buffalo RBs see important reps

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 19:07:55 -0700

Buffalo Bills RBs Mike Gillislee, James Wilder Jr. and Jonathan Williams saw the reps in practice Wednesday, June 15, with RBs LeSean McCoy and Karlos Williams sidelined. Williams was most impressive in the practice, showing surprising ability to shift direction and make defenders miss.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy and Karlos Williams are the top two backs, but the rest of the jobs behind them are wide open. We've seen before that the No. 3 back in Buffalo can be valuable, especially with McCoy's propensity for injury of late. For now, the winner of the No. 3 battle isn't worth drafting in most fantasy leagues, but watch the early-season returns and the waiver wire. Know the depth chart in case injury strikes one of the top two.

Bills | Mike Gillislee finds end zone

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 14:58:36 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee rushed for 93 yards and one touchdown on nine carries against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16. He also caught two passes for 16 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee's role on offense in Week 17 will be determined by LeSean McCoy's health. Gillislee could see a solid amount of touches next week if McCoy is still out and could be a solid option on FantasyScore.
