Seahawks | Christine Michael doing well

Sun, 20 Jul 2014 13:22:12 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Christine Michael's work this spring has done nothing to dismiss the thought that he will receive regular carries this season.

Fantasy Tip: It's still not known how many he'll receive, but Marshawn Lynch remains the lead back. Lynch is a low-end RB1, and Michael is a RB4 with upside.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch likely to see bulk of load

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 07:07:53 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch, who averaged 18.8 carries a game last season, is expected to be scaled back some this year. However, he's still expected to receive 15 or 16 carries per game with RB Christine Michael filling in at times.

Fantasy Tip: There were reports the team was going to use a committee at running back, but they seem to be exaggerated right now. Lynch remains a low-end RB1, and Michael is a flex option in good matchups.

Seahawks | Marshawn Lynch considering retirement?

Thu, 12 Jun 2014 17:11:37 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch told two teammates last season that he could retire if the team won the Super Bowl, and that option is still realistic at this point, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: If Lynch decides to walk away, Robert Turbin and Christine Michael likely would share carries this upcoming season. Michael likely would have more value because of his performance during organized team activities and his potential to be a lead back, but Turbin would also have solid value.

Seahawks | Haven't been informed Marshawn Lynch will miss OTAs

Thu, 12 Jun 2014 14:15:44 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has not informed the team of his desire to skip organized team activities. He wants a new contract and may end up telling the team he won't participate.

Fantasy Tip: Lynch remains a target for the bottom half of Round 1, although additional missed time could be cause for concern. Christine Michael continues to impress during OTAs and could eat into Lynch's carries this season, as he appears to be his heir apparent.

Seahawks | OC backtracks on RBBC comments

Tue, 10 Jun 2014 05:52:38 -0700

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said his "running back by committee" comments last week meant the team would use the approach in OTAs, but not necessarily when the season started.

Fantasy Tip: We still expect Christine Michael to steal some of the workload from Marshawn Lynch. It could be enough to knock him out of first-round value, but he still rates as an RB1 this year.

Seahawks | RB by committee in 2014?

Wed, 04 Jun 2014 21:01:17 -0700

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said Wednesday, June 4, that the team is impressed by RB Christine Michael during offseason workouts. "We are going to be running back by committee. We really like what Christine Michael is doing right now," Bevell said.

Fantasy Tip: This has to concern potential fantasy owners of Marshawn Lynch, who has been the primary mail carrier in the great Pacific Northwest lately. It will be interesting to see if Michael carries this momentum into training camp and the preseason. If Bevell really means what he says, then Lynch will have to be dropped down a few pegs on draft cheat sheets, with Michael emerging as a sleeper. But it's June, a lot can change in the next three months.

Thu, 29 May 2014 14:36:55 -0700

Seahawks | Pete Carroll praises Christine Michael

Thu, 29 May 2014 07:32:49 -0700

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was complimentary of RB Christine Michael after the back impressed during team workouts, showing burst at the line of scrimmage. "We have very high expectations for him," Carroll said. "He's going to get a ton of work. He's just a million miles ahead of where he was in terms of understanding what we want scheme-wise, pass protection wise, route wise, and we know he's a natural runner. He's got explosive talent and we just want to get him to fit in."

Fantasy Tip: Michael probably won't have a huge weekly workload, despite coach's comments. But he is next in line should anything go wrong for Marshawn Lynch, whose busy workload the last few years may start wearing him down. Michael is a decent late-rounds speculation in deep fantasy football leagues.

Seahawks | Coach hypes Christine Michael

Fri, 21 Feb 2014 10:33:19 -0800

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll hyped RB Christine Michael, saying he could be the team's biggest breakout candidate in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: Michael will likely have to win the backup running back job in training camp over Robert Turbin, but that type of comment from the head coach suggests he is in a good position to do so as the team enters the offseason program.

Seahawks | Christine Michael shines

Fri, 09 Aug 2013 11:12:02 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Christine Michael posted 89 yards on 16 carries in the team's preseason opener against the San Diego Chargers Thursday, Aug. 8. He appears to get stronger as the game went on, and head coach Pete Carroll said he wanted to make sure to get Christine into a rhythm. "We weren't going to get frustrated with what happened early, and just keep sticking to it," Carroll said. "He bounced the ball well outside on his long run - had a couple of nice runs. He's got a long way to go, but he ran hard, looked quick and made some guys miss. So I think it's a very good first game for him."

Fantasy Tip: Michael is a rookie worth watching, but he is not worth drafting in most re-draft fantasy leagues unless disaster strikes in Seattle and Marshawn Lynch suffers some sort of a long-term injury. Michael is a nice long-term pick in dynasty formats.

The team will have a better timetable for his recovery after surgery and doctors are able to determine the extent of the damage. Head coach Pete Carroll believes Harvin will be back and will contribute this season. The injury could mean a bigger role for WR Golden Tate, and he could end up being a kickoff return option. RB Christine Michael could also be asked to return kicks in Harvin's absence.

Seahawks | Christine Michael shows well

Fri, 07 Jun 2013 18:51:58 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Christine Michael worked with the first-team offense this week during organized team activities (OTAs), and he showed off his pass-catching skills during the sessions.

Fantasy Tip: Michael is battling for the primary backup job behind starting RB Marshawn Lynch. He might be worth a late-round flier in re-draft leagues, and a roster spot as a handcuff to Lynch. He'll be worth a middle-round pick in long-term keeper formats.

Seahawks | Christine Michael expected to compete for backup role

Mon, 20 May 2013 13:53:02 -0700

Seattle Seahawks RB Christine Michael is expected to battle with RB Robert Turbin for the backup duties to RB Marshawn Lynch this year. Michael is expected to see plenty of action. "He's our kind of runner," general manager John Schneider said this month. "He's a tough, intense, up-field, one-cut guy. A very good football player."

Fantasy Tip: Michael seems to be a perfect fit as Lynch's backup in a zone-blocking scheme, but it's unknown what kind of impact he'll have with Turbin also in the picture. Michael probably won't have much fantasy value unless significant carries open up due to injury.

Michael is expected to check in at 225 pounds, and run in the mid-4.4s in the 40-yard dash. Michael brings a combination of size and speed, so he is expected to stand out at his position at the NFL Scouting Combine.
