NFL | Joseph Randle arrested for speeding

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 09:33:56 -0800

Free-agent RB Joseph Randle (Cowboys) was arrested Monday, Feb. 1, on a speeding charge in Irving, Texas. He was arrested near the home of his ex-girlfriend on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. Randle was taken into custody, and his bail was set at $359.

Fantasy Tip: After all of Randle's run-ins with the law, it'd be a surprise if another team takes a chance on him for the 2016 season. Don't expect him to be a fantasy asset at all for next year.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle released by Dallas

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 10:14:17 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle was released Tuesday, Nov. 3, according to team sources.

Fantasy Tip: Randle had been dealing with an injury but also was falling out of favor and had been demoted in the running back heirarchy before that. Drop him in all fantasy formats. Darren McFadden ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is now a must-own and will be especially intriguing on FantasyScore when Tony Romo is back running things. Christine Michael ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is also worth a stash in the majority of fantasy leagues and can be valuable as a deep sleeper flex play in daily games.

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 07:59:44 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) won't play in Week 9 Sunday, Nov. 8, against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle out for Week 8

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 09:24:44 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) will not play Sunday, Nov. 1, due to an oblique strain.

Fantasy Tip: Darren McFadden ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) appears poised to be the lead back for the foreseeable future. His fortunes don't look so good this week against the Seattle Seahawks. He's a risky flex play on FantasyScore.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle facing short ban

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 09:24:08 -0700

Updating earlier reports, Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is facing a one- or two-game suspension for violating the personal conduct policy.

Fantasy Tip: Randle is worth stashing in traditional leagues because Darren McFadden has been so injury-prone. McFadden ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks this week. He's a risky flex option on FantasyScore.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle idle Thursday

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 08:40:19 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique, personal) won't practice Thursday, Oct. 29, as he deals with an oblique injury and a personal issue, according to head coach Jason Garrett.

Fantasy Tip: Randle is expected to miss this week, and it was reported earlier he's likely to be suspended for violating the team's personal conduct policy. Darren McFadden ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks this week. He's a risky midrange flex option on FantasyScore.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle facing discipline

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 07:30:49 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is subject to discipline for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, according to multiple sources. Randle met with NFL investigators this summer and within the past week, the NFL determined he violated the league's personal conduct policy stemming from an arrest this offseason. Randle could simply face a fine, but a suspension is likelier.

Fantasy Tip: Randle looks to have an uphill climb in returning to fantasy relevance this season. Darren McFadden ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is the one to own now. He has a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks this week. He's a risky midrange grab on FantasyScore.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle misses treatment

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 06:08:05 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) missed a scheduled treatment Wednesday, Oct. 28, after he was told he was demoted in favor of RB Darren McFadden. Randle is expected back at the facility Thursday, Oct. 29.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) has a tough matchup against the Seattle Seahawks this week. He could figure into the passing game a bit, but he's a risky midrange grab on FantasyScore. As for Randle, he could still have a shot to produce when he returns to health. Keep him stashed if possible in traditional leagues.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle doesn't practice

Wed, 28 Oct 2015 15:02:13 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) did not take part in practice Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) is expected to at least miss this week. Darren McFadden ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) will take over the starting duties and should be owned in all leagues by now. However, he's not a strong daily play against the strong Seattle Seahawks defensive front this weekend.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle to miss some time

Mon, 26 Oct 2015 09:44:05 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) is dealing with an oblique injury and is likely to miss some time, according to a source. Randle will be re-evaluated Monday, Oct. 26. RB Darren McFadden had a season-high 152 rushing yards in the Week 7 loss to the New York Giants in Randle's absence.

Fantasy Tip: Randle's fantasy stock was already plummeted before the injury, so his owners should've already been making plans to replace him. McFadden is now a must-own in all leagues, and Christine Michael will also see plenty of more work. McFadden shouldn't be a popular daily pick heading into the Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, though.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle strains back

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 18:31:06 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (back) exited with a strained back against the New York Giants in Week 7 after rushing for 24 yards on two carries.

Fantasy Tip: Darren McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) ran for 152 yards with Randle ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) out of action, and if Randle misses more time, McFadden would be a potential value play at FantasyScore.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle likely will start

Sun, 25 Oct 2015 07:42:53 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle likely will be the starting running back in the Week 7 game against the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) will receive the start but probably will share time with Darren McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) and Christine Michael ($3,600, 7.2% of cap). Randle may have the most fantasy value at this point, but all three are risky options because the distribution of snaps is uncertain.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle still lead back

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 11:42:05 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle will continue to get the bulk of the carries, according to offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. The team wants to get RB Christine Michael involved as well, though.

Fantasy Tip: Darren McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) remains an intriguing option against the New York Giants with how much they used him in the passing game. Randle ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) has struggled and may not be worth the midrange grab on FantasyScore in this committee. Take a wait-and-see approach with Michael ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) until he figures heavily into the gameplan.

Cowboys | Christine Michael could start

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 06:28:43 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Christine Michael could supplant RB Joseph Randle as the starting running back as the team evaluates the position in the bye week.

Fantasy Tip: Michael should be picked up if you have the room and/or as a Randle handcuff.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden sees most action

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 08:33:17 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden played 32 snaps in Week 5, with RB Joseph Randle playing 29 snaps.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) was crucial in the passing game in Week 5. He could be a worthwhile flyer on FantasyScore when the Cowboys return from their Week 6 bye. Randle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) is a big question mark right now.

Cowboys | Dallas to use RB rotation

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 20:24:29 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle will start the Week 5 game against the New England Patriots in Week 5, with RB Darren McFadden seeing action a couple of series later and then giving way to RB Christine Michael. According to vice president Stephen Jones, the team will go with the hot hand from there.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) is likely going to see more touches than McFadden ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Michael ($3,000, 6.0% of cap), but it isn't a guarantee. FantasyScore players likely want to steer far clear of this messy and fluid situation.

Cowboys | No plans for Dallas to add RB

Tue, 06 Oct 2015 19:43:14 -0700

Despite the loss of Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar (knee) for the season, the team does not plan on bringing in another running back, a source said Tuesday, Oct. 6. RB Christine Michael was added and will serve as the No. 3 tailback behind RBs Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) and McFadden ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) will see a majority of the reps, but Michael ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will see an increase in workload. Still, your best bet for FantasyScore is Randle.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle disappears late

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 22:05:42 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle carried 11 times for just 26 yards in the Week 4 game against the New Orleans Saints. He was able to score a touchdown, but he did not have any receptions.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) saw most of his action in the first half before basically disappearing in the second half. It's uncertain if he was benched or he suffered some sort of injury. Stay tuned.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle ready for repeat?

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 19:20:32 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle faces the New Orleans Saints in Week 4, and the Saints are allowing the seventh-most rushing yards to running backs this season.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) has established himself as the lead back in Dallas, and he scored three times in Week as he was leaned on even more with Tony Romo sidelined. The fact that he has a friendly matchup makes him an even easier choice at FantasyScore.

Cowboys | Christine Michael to see some action?

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 16:21:01 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Christine Michael took repetitions with the first-team offense in practice this week and is being prepared for game-day duty in Week 4 against the New Orleans Saints. The Cowboys are trying to find a way to carry four running backs on their active roster including RBs Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar. Michael spend the first few weeks in Dallas learning the offense while on the scout team. Michael brings size and a physical style to the run game that the other backs on the team do not. He could serve as the hammer with the Saints expected to use plenty of eight- and nine-man fronts with QB Brandon Weeden at the helm.

Fantasy Tip: The Cowboys have so many mouths to feed at running back that it seems highly unlikely that Michael ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) would come in immediately and make a huge fantasy impact against the Saints. It's not impossible, though, but he'll remain a deep sleeper on FantasyScore for the time being.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle runs for three TDs

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 22:05:40 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle carried 14 times for 87 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He also hauled in two receptions for 18 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) certainly earned his keep for FantasyScore players in this one. He is likely to see more responsibilities in the offense with Tony Romo sidelined at least a few more weeks.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle totals 65 yards

Sun, 20 Sep 2015 21:50:32 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle carried 18 times for 51 yards in the Week 2 game against the Philadelphia Eagles and he added a catch for 14 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is the primary ball carrier in Big D, as he had 19 total touches to 12 for Darren McFadden ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) and four for Lance Dunbar ($3,200, 6.4% of cap). For FantasyScore purposes Randle is a solid low-end RB2 or flex option, but remember the Dallas offense will soon have a completely different look with Brandon Weeden in for the injured Tony Romo. There will be growing pains for everyone.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle totals 107 yards

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 22:34:05 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle carried 16 times for 65 yards in the Week 1 win against the New York Giants, and he added three receptions for 42 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is clearly the top tailback option in Big D, with Randle seeing 19 total touches to seven for Darren McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) and eight for Lance Dunbar ($2,200, 4.4% of cap). Randle is a nice RB2 or flex play heading into Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle solid in Week 1

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 21:37:37 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle carried the ball 16 times for 65 yards Sunday, Sept. 13, as the Cowboys scored a 27-26 win over the New York Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) was expected to be the starter and he did not disappoint. He certainly didn't do anything to justify not starting him in Week 2, so if you need a mid-priced running back then Randle is a solid option.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle expected to start

Sun, 13 Sep 2015 07:45:48 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is expected to be the starting running back against the New York Giants in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) could see a majority of the snaps in Week 1, but he will be sharing playing time with two other running backs. He will be behind one of the better offensive lines in the NFL and could be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle likely to start Week 1

Sat, 12 Sep 2015 18:11:15 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle has practiced with the first-team offense all week and has received a majority of the work, and "all indications" point to Randle starting against the New York Giants Sunday, Sept. 13, according to Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) draws a great matchup against an injury-plagued Giants defense, and while Darren McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) will see some touches, Randle still has enough upside to warrant a look at FantasyScore.

Cowboys | A true committee in Dallas

Thu, 10 Sep 2015 12:12:45 -0700

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is unconcerned with who is starting at running back for the team in Week 1 against the New York Giants. RP Joseph Randle has seen most of the first-team snaps over RB Darren McFadden since the spring, and Randle was taking first-team snaps again in a portion of practice open to the media Wednesday, Sept. 9. However, it's clear that Dallas will go with a committee approach in the backfield with Randle, McFadden and RB Lance Dunbar seeing work. The division of labor could change game to game, half to half, quarter to quarter or series to series.

Fantasy Tip: A report yesterday indicated McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) will be the starter against the Giants, but take that with a grain of salt. We could easily see more of Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) in the second series or for most of the remainder of the game. This backfield will give fantasy owners headaches all year, and hopefully you were able to handcuff both McFadden and Randle. McFadden is the better gamble on FantasyScore in Week 1 because he's cheaper and was "designated" as the starter.

Cowboys | Christine Michael a backup plan

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 10:31:10 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Christine Michael was acquired as a backup plan due to RB Darren McFadden's injury history and RB Joseph Randle's inexperience, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Michael isn't worth adding unless one of the top two or Lance Dunbar are lost to injury.

Cowboys | Darren McFadden likely to start

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 09:15:29 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden is likely to start Week 1 Sunday, Sept. 13, but the team doesn't have a pitch count on him and RB Joseph Randle.

Fantasy Tip: McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) and Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) could still see a 50-50 split, but this is a situation you're just going to have to monitor week to week. Randle may be a bit risky as a flex on FantasyScore with this news.

Cowboys | Starting RB for Dallas undecided

Tue, 08 Sep 2015 21:38:33 -0700

While Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is listed as the starter on the depth chart released before the Week 1 game against the New York Giants, head coach Jason Garrett and vice president Stephen Jones admitted Tuesday, Sept. 8, that they have not yet decided on a starter. RB Darren McFadden could be the starter, or RB Christine Michael might be the option.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is likely to head up a committee situation with McFadden ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) and Michael ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) lesser FantasyScore options. Lance Dunbar ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is not in the equation for every-down duties.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle expected to start

Mon, 07 Sep 2015 16:07:23 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is expected to be the starting running back for the team in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Randle ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) should see a majority of the snaps during the game and has the potential to post solid numbers. Owners on FantasyScore could consider using Randle in their lineups if they are comfortable with the price.

Cowboys | Dallas to add another RB?

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 16:48:41 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Joseph Randle and Darren McFadden are both unlikely to play in the team's preseason finale Thursday, Sept. 3, and vice president Stephen Jones stopped short of saying the Cowboys were set at the running back position heading into the regular season. Jones didn't rule out Dallas signing a young running back to add to the mix. General manager Jerry Jones, however, is not surprised that there hasn't been separation between Randle and McFadden this preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Randle has everything needed to perform at an RB1 level this year for Dallas behind an elite offensive line if he can make the most of his touches. McFadden is a necessary handcuff to Randle, though, as a third-down back that could take notable goal-line carries away.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle could have 10-15 carries

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 05:28:47 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle could have 10-15 carries per game with RB Darren McFadden slightly below that, in the opinion of beat writer Drew Davison

Fantasy Tip: Randle is a low-end RB2 or a high-end RB3. McFadden is a midrange RB3, and Lance Dunbar will be involved some as an RB5.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle part of committee?

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 19:06:11 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle will share reps with RB Darren McFadden and RB Lance Dunbar because the Cowboys "intend to take a committee approach," according to Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Fantasy Tip: With Randle unable to separate himself as the lead back, he should be considered a low-end RB2. However, he has plenty of upside if he can eventually earn a bulk of the carries.

Cowboys | None of Dallas RBs standing out

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 18:10:54 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle had seven carries for 30 yards in the preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23, against the San Francisco 49ers, while RB Darren McFadden had three totes for just four yards. RB Lance Dunbar didn't have a run from scrimmage, and managed just two grabs for three yards. "We didn't run the ball very well," head coach Jason Garrett said. "Obviously we were trying to control the line of scrimmage and didn't do a very good job of that." The team was also playing without three starters along the offensive line, so that needs to be taken into account.

Fantasy Tip: Perhaps Jerry Jones and the Dallas braintrust are re-thinking their decision to let DeMarco Murray walk in the offseason. Randle appears to be the frontrunner for the starting, and all indications are he has had the best camp, but it could be a three-headed monster with a 50-30-20 sort of split until one emerges as the clear-cut bellcow. That's just an estimate and not based on any reports, but it is something to keep in mind, especially for FantasyScore players early in the season.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle won't suit up

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 16:13:24 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) won't play in a preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Randle was on track to be the starter in Week 1, and while the injury isn't considered serious, he could end up giving away some playing time to Darren McFadden if it happens to linger. That being said, Randle is still the safer pick, and he is worth drafting as a RB2.

Cowboys | Dallas expected to have top RBs Sunday

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 14:33:07 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RBs Joseph Randle (oblique), Darren McFadden (hamstring) and Lance Dunbar (ankle) are all expected to receive some playing time during the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23, according to owner/general manager Jerry Jones.

Fantasy Tip: All three running backs have dealt with minor injuries during training camp, but they appear ready to play. Randle should see most of the work this season and could be a middle-round draft pick. McFadden should see limited work during games and could be a late-round option or a handcuff to Randle. Dunbar should serve as the team's third-down back and could have value in point-per-reception leagues.

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) aggravated his oblique injury Thursday, Aug. 20, and is doubtful for the second preseason game Sunday, Aug. 23.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle leaves practice

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 16:34:03 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) left practice early Thursday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Randle could have aggravated the oblique injury he's been dealing with. It doesn't sound like anything major, but it's still worth monitoring. If he's healthy enough for the start of the regular season, he should still be viewed as a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.

Cowboys | Dallas to use running-back-by-committee?

Dallas Cowboys RB Darren McFadden hinted that the Cowboys will use a running-back-by-committee approach this season, mainly between he and RB Joseph Randle. "You know the competitor in me definitely wants to be the No. 1 guy that goes out there. But at the same time, it's like, man, you know we're going to split carries. So whoever goes out there or goes out there second -- I just know whenever I do get a chance to get the ball in my hands, I'm going to go out there and go 110%," McFadden said.

Fantasy Tip: Dallas' backfield is a muddled picture, but Randle is expected to see first crack at the majority role. However, he will yield carries to McFadden if he can stay healthy, so owning both in your fantasy league would be idea. The good news is that both runners are working behind an elite offensive line.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle may fully practice

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 07:22:03 -0700

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle (oblique) could participate in team drills during practice Saturday, Aug. 15. Randle has been limited because of an oblique injury.

Fantasy Tip: Randle is considered the frontrunner for the starting running back job and should win the job if he plays well during the preseason. He probably will have to share some of his carries with other running backs on the roster, but he could be a middle-round option in some leagues.

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle has impressed the team during training camp, and the starting running back job is his to lose with both RBs Darren McFadden (hamstring) and Lance Dunbar (ankle) dealing with injuries.

Fantasy Tip: Running behind arguably the best offensive line in the entire league, Randle has tons of upside as the front-runner for the starting running back job in Dallas. He has RB2 upside as an early-round fantasy pick.
