Cardinals | David Johnson represents safety net

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 16:38:12 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson was praised by head coach Bruce Arians for his work in the receiving game. RB Andre Ellington excelled as a receiver in 2014, but his difficulties staying healthy would force Arians and the Cardinals to alter their game plan. Johnson is expected to allow for a much more seamless transition in the event of an Ellington injury.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has the physical size on Ellington, but the two have the same strengths on the field. Johnson is nothing more than a late-round handcuff to Ellington in redraft leagues, although he'll hold more value in dynasty leagues.

Cardinals | David Johnson mirrors Andre Ellington

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 09:37:39 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson is viewed as a similar back to RB Andre Ellington, and Johnson can do a lot of the same things on the field.

Fantasy Tip: Many thought the team would pair Ellington with a big back, but it appears they envision using similar backs in their up-tempo offense. Johnson will probably see some third-down work, but Ellington should see the lion's share. Ellington is a solid RB1 in PPR leagues with Johnson a midrange RB3.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington looking good

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 18:05:41 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (foot) appears to be 100 percent during organized team activities (OTAs) after an injury-plagued 2014 season. He has been showing elusive quickness in practice.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington was still semi-productive despite his foot injury. He could come with a cheaper price tag on draft day this season after his injury-filled season and easily outperform his average draft position. You can start thinking about Ellington in standard fantasy leagues at the tail end of Round 4.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington aided by new RB?

Wed, 13 May 2015 12:17:36 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington said the selection of rookie RB David Johnson will give him more rest time and keep the offense upbeat.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington likely won't see the nearly 250 touches he saw last season, but he could still produce at a higher clip with a lightened load. Ellington will still start as long as he's healthy, but his fantasy value takes a mild hit. He'll do more in point-per-reception leagues (46 catches in 2014). He still has RB2 potential in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington set for similar role

Sun, 03 May 2015 17:02:45 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington's role in 2015 will be similar to the role he had last season, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Although it sounds like Ellington will have a shot to be the lead back again in 2015, his small frame is a concern. He was unable to stay healthy or produce many big plays while doing the heavy lifting in the backfield last year. Still, a lack of competition in Arizona makes him a low-end RB2 in traditional formats, and his value receives a boost in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington making progress

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 11:42:37 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington's (foot) injured foot is about 95% healed, and Ellington has not suffered any setbacks, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington missed the last month of the season because of several injuries, but it looks like he should be ready for at least training camp. Ellington likely will have to share work with another running back during the season, which will hurt his value. Ellington likely will have more value in point-per reception leagues, but could be a solid option in the middle rounds of most drafts.

Cardinals | Run game catered to Andre Ellington?

Sat, 04 Apr 2015 18:47:04 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington's injuries last season forced the running game to be adjusted to the strengths of several different players, and head coach Bruce Arians believes stability at the position will improve the Arizona's rushing results.

Fantasy Tip: Although the Cardinals are expected to add a power back to support Ellington, it sounds like Arians would still prefer to have Ellington receive a steady amount of carries. His durability concerns aren't going away, but Ellington should still be considered a RB2 with upside heading into 2015.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington's role won't be reduced

Fri, 27 Mar 2015 16:42:28 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington, who averaged 20.6 touches per game in 2014 before being injured, won't have his role reduced in 2015, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Ellington's role in the passing game may increase, too. Ellington was often limited in practices during the week last year because of his foot injury.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington has often been criticized that he lacks lead-back capabilities. Things could change if Arizona drafts or trades for a running back, but with a revamped offensive line, Ellington could be a sleeper runner for fantasy owners in 2015 in the later rounds.

Cardinals | Help coming for Andre Ellington?

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 18:15:46 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington dealt with several injuries last season, and general manager Steve Keim said that the Cardinals "definitely need to shore up" the running back position.

Fantasy Tip: Although adding another quality back would cut into Ellington's touches, it could actually help his fantasy value if it allows him to maintain his health and explosiveness for the entire season.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington needs to build strength

Sun, 22 Feb 2015 09:42:32 -0800

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington needs to bulk up and improve his strength this offseason so he can stay healthy for an entire season, according to general manager Steve Keim. Keim said he believes Ellington can be a featured back in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington was limited to 12 games this past season because of injuries, but he did see an increase in his carries and receptions. The Cardinals likely will add another running back during the offseason, but Ellington should have a similar role in next season. Ellington could be a middle round draft choice in fantasy drafts next season.
