Cardinals | Andre Ellington should still start

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 14:28:35 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington is still expected to be the starting running back, according to Darren Urban of azcardinals.com.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Ellington is healthy, he will see the majority of work out of the Cardinals' backfield. David Johnson and Chris Johnson are likely to play change-of-pace roles, but Johnson should see more playing time on passing downs. Ellington is still worth a look as a RB2, with more value in PPR leagues.

Cardinals | Chris Johnson could still start

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 12:18:56 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson hasn't been ruled out as being the starting running back over RB Andre Ellington, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson does have the track record to compete with Ellington for starting running back. If Ellington stays healthy, though, it will be hard to envision Johnson beating out Ellington for the job. Pay attention to the Cardinals' running backs as the preseason goes on.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington looking good

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 16:09:54 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (hamstring) participated in 11-on-11 drills Thursday, Aug. 13, and looked good during the outing, according to Darren Urban of azcardinals.com.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington seems to be making good progress lately. It was already reported that he is close to full speed. The trick will be for Ellington to maintain good health. David Johnson is and advisable handcuff selection for those who select Ellington. View Ellington as a RB2.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington close to full speed

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 14:18:49 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (hamstring) is close to full speed, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington is currently listed as the starter in this backfield, but rookie David Johnson (most upside) and Stepfan Taylor could factor in and limit Ellington's touches throughout the year. Ellington is best used as a flex player in PPR leagues.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington will play Saturday

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 11:25:27 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (hamstring) is close to running at full speed and will be able to play in the first preseason game Saturday, Aug. 15, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington probably will not receive a lot of work during the game but it is good that he is back on the field. Ellington could be part of a committee at the position if no one earns the starting job, which could make him a middle- to late-round option depending on his role.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington making progress

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 17:48:57 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (hamstring) got in some 11-on-11 work Wednesday, Aug. 12, and he impressed with his speed. Ellington is still limited, but he did say he would play Saturday, Aug. 15, although the team may decide otherwise.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals are likely to favor Ellington being at 100% health for Week 1, over the preseason opener. Owners should continue to monitor Ellington's progress.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington practicing fully

Tue, 11 Aug 2015 11:46:39 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (hamstring) was fully practicing Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington has been plagued by injuries the last couple years, rookie David Johnson is nursing a nagging hamstring strain and the Cardinals recently offered Chris Johnson a one-year deal. Each one of them could cut into each other's value, but Ellington still has the most upside and should be viewed as a RB2, especially in PPR leagues.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington returns Monday

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 17:27:45 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (hamstring) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 10, after missing a week.

Fantasy Tip: Ellington's injury isn't considered serious, so he should be fine for Week 1. He could share significant snaps and repetitions with rookie David Johnson, limiting his fantasy value a bit. Ellington isn't a three-down back in the NFL and is injury-prone. It's probably smartest to handcuff Ellington to Johnson if you draft him.

Cardinals | Kerwynn Williams with starter reps

Tue, 04 Aug 2015 06:18:14 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Kerwynn Williams took the first-team repetitions Monday, Aug. 3, with RBs Andre Ellington (hamstring) and David Johnson (hamstring) out. RB Stepfan Taylor worked with the second unit.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Ellington or Johnson are expected to be out for long. Williams would make a late-round flyer if he can impress and carve a niche in the two lead backs' absence.

Cardinals | Andre Ellington not practicing

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 11:21:31 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (hamstring) will miss practice Monday, Aug 3, with a tightened hamstring. The injury is not serious, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like both Arizona running backs are dealing with non-serious hamstring injuries. Handcuffing running backs isn't necessary, but this might be a case where one would want to draft David Johnson later on if they take Ellington in an earlier round.
