The Washington Redskins coaches want their free safety and strong safety to be interchangeable this season. FS Phillip Thomas and FS Bacarri Rambo likely will be able to play either position because they played both safety positions during their college careers.

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said he likes that FS Bacarri Rambo and FS Phillip Thomas have the versatility to play both safety positions. "Any time you have motions and shifts and tight ends with the type of talent they have nowadays, you have to be able to be able to play both positions," Shanahan said. "The good part about it, they have the size and athletic ability to play both positions."
