Rams | Top wideouts to play sparingly?

Thu, 28 Dec 2017 21:53:01 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WRs Cooper Kupp (knee), Robert Woods and Sammy Watkins are unlikely to see much action in Week 17, according to head coach Sean McVay.

Fantasy Tip: Of that group, Kupp is probably the only one that was on fantasy radars at this point with Watkins having not topped 40 yards in a game since Nov. 26 and Woods working his way back from injury. Still, this news should serve reinforce the fact that none of them should be in your lineup this Sunday.

Rams | Robert Woods held in check

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 14:47:30 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods posted three catches for 33 yards on eight targets in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Woods had a huge impact for fantasy down the stretch, but he disappeared in the week when most had their championship game. Still, it was a good season and he'll be an early-round pick in fantasy leagues in 2018 as a result.

Rams | Robert Woods making it happen

Mon, 18 Dec 2017 10:44:01 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods ranks fourth in the league among receivers with at least 500 snaps this season in passer rating when targeted (121.6), per Pro Football Focus.

Fantasy Tip: Woods flashed occasionally in his first four years with the Buffalo Bills, but he has thrived in his first year with the Rams. He's no longer tied to a conservative offense forced to play in bad weather and has benefited from the defense's tendency to focus on stopping the big play from Sammy Watkins, and not him. He'll be a high-upside WR2 once again in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans.

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods returned from a shoulder injury and finished with six catches for 45 yards and a touchdown in a 42-7 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: The passing attack wasn't needed much with Todd Gurley running wild, but Woods resumed his role as Jared Goff's top target. He should be in the WR2 conversation over the final two weeks.

Rams | Cooper Kupp to see targets dip?

Fri, 15 Dec 2017 20:50:31 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) is expected to return against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15, and WR Cooper Kupp averaged 8.0 targets in the three games Woods has been sidelined compared to 6.1 targets per game when Woods has played.

Fantasy Tip: Kupp is playing his best football of the season, and even if Woods' return means a couple of less looks, Kupp should be left in starting lineups in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Woods will be back in the lineup after missing the last few games because of the injury. He has been a big part of the passing game this season and should receive a solid amount of targets against the Seahawks. He can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver in most leagues.

Rams | Robert Woods records full practice

Thu, 14 Dec 2017 17:10:48 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has already declared that he intends to play on Sunday in Seattle, and with a full practice under his belt on Thursday, it looks like he is indeed going to return following a two-game absence. The former Buffalo Bill had an extraordinary two-game stretch prior to going down with injury, so it'd be a fine move to reinsert him into lineups as a WR3 this weekend.

Rams | Robert Woods says he's playing Sunday

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 17:44:43 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) said that he's playing in the team's Week 15 game Sunday, Dec. 17, versus the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Woods had arguably the best back-to-back stretch of his career before missing the last three contests with a shoulder injury. He's certainly developed into one of quarterback Jared Goff's favorite weapons, and thus, as long as he's able to suit up this weekend, the former Buffalo Bill can be reinserted into lineups as a WR3.

Rams | Robert Woods limited Wednesday

Wed, 13 Dec 2017 15:52:45 -0800

Rams | Robert Woods likely to return Week 15

Tue, 12 Dec 2017 10:26:08 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) is "on track" to play in Week 15 barring any setbacks, according to head coach Sean McVay.

Fantasy Tip: While the Rams have averaged 31 points during his three-game absence, Woods had emerged as Jared Goff's favorite target and was performing at a WR1 level in fantasy before his injury. The odds are strong he'll get a chance to return to that form versus a banged-up Seattle Seahawks defense in Week 15 after posting five catches for 66 yards against a healthier version of the Legion of Boom in the first meeting back in Week 5.

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) is not expected to play against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 14, but he is expected back against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: With Woods sidelined again, Cooper Kupp has WR2 upside and should be starting in all formats. It also becomes a little easier to take a chance on Sammy Watkins as a touchdown-dependent WR3.

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 8, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Woods will be active against the Philadelphia Eagles. He has been a solid part of the Rams passing game when he is healthy, but owners may want to look for other options because of his uncertain status.

Rams | Robert Woods doesn't practice again

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 18:07:01 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) missed practice for the second consecutive day Thursday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking more and more like Woods won't be able to suit up again this weekend versus the Eagles. If that's the case, then Sammy Watkins and Cooper Kupp will each get a boost. They're the only pass-catchers worth deploying from the Rams offense.

Wed, 06 Dec 2017 20:12:05 -0800

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) is making progress but doesn't have a specific timetable for his return, according to head coach Sean McVay.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has missed the last two games and it sounds like he's going to miss another, if not more, coming up. In his absence, the only Rams pass-catchers worth paying attention to from a fantasy perspective are Sammy Watkins and Cooper Kupp.

Rams | Robert Woods misses practice again

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 16:30:59 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) sat out another practice Thursday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: It's already been announced that Woods won't play this Sunday against the Cardinals, so his lack of participation in practice shouldn't be surprising. Rookie Cooper Kupp logged a career-best 116 yards last week in Woods' absence, so he'll certainly be worth consideration in all formats this weekend.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) will not play in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: The original timeframe given was a few weeks, so it's no surprise that Woods will miss his second straight game. Without Woods the passing game flows through Cooper Kupp and Sammy Watkins, giving both a boost in Week 13.

Rams | Robert Woods sits out practice Wednesday

Wed, 29 Nov 2017 17:19:38 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Fantasy Tip: Woods missed the team's Week 12 contest opposite the Saints, and if he can't make it onto the practice field this week, it's likely to be two in a row on the sidelines for the former Buffalo Bill. That would be a shame, as Woods had the best two-game stretch of his career prior to injuring his shoulder. If he's not active this weekend, Cooper Kupp will once again get a boost.

Fantasy Tip: Cooper Kupp, Tavon Austin and Pharoh Cooper are options to receive more targets while Woods is sidelined. Kupp is probably the best option among the receivers and can be a flex option in most leagues. Austin and Cooper are not great fantasy options at this point.

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 15:38:07 -0800

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods finished with eight receptions for 81 yards on 11 targets in Week 11 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Woods saw his long touchdown streak come to an end, as he had scores of 50-plus yards in each of the past two games. He was able to tie a season best with eight receptions, and his 11 targets were the most so far this year. He has emerged as a dependable low-end WR2 or flex play in most leagues. The Rams host the Saints in Week 12.

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods caught eight passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-7 win over the Houston Texans in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has scored twice in back-to-back games, and he has become the No. 1 option for the passing attack and a solid WR3. He has delivered at least 59 yards in five straight games and has five or more catches four times in that stretch.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has been targeted at least five targets in each of the last six games and has posted 70 yards in two of the last three games. He has been a reliable target for the Rams this season and can be at least a No. 3 receiver for owners.

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 17:20:33 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods posted five receptions for 59 yards on seven targets in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals in London.

Fantasy Tip: Woods is starting to develop a nice rapport with Jared Goff, as he gradually gets comfortable in his new surroundings. He'll have two weeks with the bye to continue working hard. However, he remains nothing more than a low-end WR4 or flex fantasy play heading into Week 9.

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 20:46:47 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Woods hasn't visited the end zone in six outings this season, and he did lose a fumble in this one, buthe has at least 66 yards in three of his past four games. He remains more of a low-end WR4 or flex play heading into Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals in London.

Sun, 08 Oct 2017 20:57:15 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods posted five receptions for 66 yards on eight targets in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has racked up 13 receptions for 191 yards over his past three games. He has re-emerged as a WR4 or flex option in deeper fantasy leagues now that he has started to jell with Jared Goff. The Rams travel to meet the Jaguars in Week 6.

Rams | Robert Woods targeted six times

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 17:30:39 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods was targeted six times in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys, but he managed just two grabs for 17 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Woods had 108 yards in Week 3 against the 49ers, and set the bar a bit higher for this weekend. However, he was a total bust. He thought he had a touchdown in the first half, and was celebrating, but the officials ruled the play in the back of the red zone was incomplete. He'll look to get back on track in Week 5 against the Seahawks.

Rams | Robert Woods tops 100 yards

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 21:25:30 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods registered six receptions for 108 yards in the team's Week 3 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: This is what the Rams were hoping for when they inked Woods to a five-year, $39 million deal in the offseason. Woods caught six of the seven balls thrown his way and looked like a nice complement to Sammy Watkins. One game does not a season make, but this shows Woods is capable of contributing at a fantasy-relevant level. For now he's a decent depth option.

Rams | Robert Woods held to one reception

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 21:26:02 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods managed just one catch for eight yards on four targets in Week 2 against Washington.

Fantasy Tip: The former Bills receiver is trying to learn the team's playbook and offensive system while jelling with a new quarterback and that takes time. So far, he isn't worth using in most fantasy leagues with his new team.

Rams | Robert Woods eyeing lead receiver role

Sat, 27 May 2017 10:00:41 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods is determined to be a "No. 1 receiver," according to the Los Angeles Times' Gary Klein.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has not eclipsed 699 yards receiving in a season, has only three 100-yard receiving games and no multi-touchdown games over his four-year career, although it could be argued he didn't have much of a chance playing second-fiddle to Sammy Watkins in a run-based offense. On a team lacking veteran offensive playmakers in the passing game, the Rams may be able to grant Woods his wish. His target share alone in 2017 should allow him to be a fantasy WR3.

Rams | Robert Woods to lead team in catches?

Wed, 24 May 2017 09:52:30 -0700

Los Angeles Rams WR Robert Woods is "perhaps the best bet to lead the (team) in catches," according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

Fantasy Tip: Woods and quarterback Jared Goff have been working out together since mid-March, and the quarterback told Gonzalez that Woods has been "more than I could have really expected." The former Buffalo Bill is the only clear starting receiver Los Angeles has at the moment and will probably see enough targets to be a serviceable WR4 in fantasy.

Rams | Robert Woods headed to Rams

Thu, 09 Mar 2017 08:19:01 -0800

Buffalo Bills impending free-agent WR Robert Woods is expected to sign a five-year, $39 million deal with the Los Angeles Rams Thursday, March 9. The deal includes $15 million guaranteed.

Fantasy Tip: Woods will take over for Kenny Britt as a possession receiver after posting a 51-613-1 line last year. He has been a matchup play in fantasy, and he could be a sneaky back-end receiver in fantasy if he's used properly.

Bills | Robert Woods still open to returning

Sat, 25 Feb 2017 07:22:35 -0800

Buffalo Bills impending free-agent WR Robert Woods remains open to re-signing with the Bills, although he wants the club's quarterback situation to be resolved before he makes a final decision.

Fantasy Tip: If Tyrod Taylor returns as Buffalo's starting quarterback next season, the chances of Woods remaining with the team are better. Regardless of where he lands, Woods is expected to be used as a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver and should be viewed as a WR4 in most fantasy formats.

Fri, 24 Feb 2017 20:29:19 -0800

Buffalo Bills impending free-agent WR Robert Woods said he would have no problem continuing to serve as the No. 2 option behind WR Sammy Watkins in Buffalo's passing attack.

Fantasy Tip: Woods could sign elsewhere in the offseason, but he is likely to be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver wherever he ends up. Heading into 2017, he projects as a WR4 for fantasy purposes.

Bills | Robert Woods likely to hit market

Fri, 17 Feb 2017 12:50:15 -0800

Buffalo Bills impending free-agent WR Robert Woods probably will test the free-agent market unless he receives an overwhelming offer from the Bills, in the opinion of Buffalo Bills.com's Chris Brown. The Bills may not be part of a bidding war if Woods receives interest from other teams.

Fantasy Tip: Woods probably will receive interest from a few teams looking for a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in free agency. He finished this season with 51 catches for 613 yards and one touchdown. Fantasy owners probably should consider Woods as a No. 3 or a No. 4 receiver in drafts.
