Bills | Robert Woods sits out

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 08:21:11 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (knee) is out of practice Friday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: He looks like a no-go this week. Sammy Watkins (foot), who returned with three catches for 80 yards last week, looks like he'll be able to play. His upside isn't where it normally is, especially with a midrange matchup against the Oakland Raiders, but he should be a WR2 in PPR.

Bills | Robert Woods sits out practice

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 16:05:44 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Woods is probably going to miss the team's Week 13 contest Sunday against the Raiders. Sammy Watkins' (foot) status is also up in the air, making it tough to determine just who to deploy from Buffalo's receiving corps. The likes of Marquise Goodwin and Justin Hunter would get substantial boosts if both Woods and Watkins are out, though it would be tough to count on them in leagues outside of deep formats.

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 10:27:26 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (knee) has been ruled out for Week 12 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Woods sprained his knee last week and hasn't practiced sense, making him extremely questionable for Week 13. The Bills are expected to get Sammy Watkins back in a limited fashion this week, however, so all is not lost. Buffalo will likely give Justin Hunter, Marquise Goodwin and possibly even Percy Harvin more snaps in what figures to be an even more run-heavy attack than usual.

Bills | Robert Woods unlikely to play

Mon, 21 Nov 2016 15:29:00 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (knee) is doubtful to play in Week 12 after sustaining a knee sprain in Week 11, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: Depending on the status of LeSean McCoy and Sammy Watkins, Marquise Goodwin and Charles Clay could be in for a substantial amount of targets this week. Both would make for cheap, contrarian plays in daily contests if all of Watkins, McCoy and Woods are sidelined.

Bills | Robert Woods may miss time

Mon, 21 Nov 2016 08:32:18 -0800

Updating previous reports, Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (knee) may be forced to miss time due to a sprained knee, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: If Woods is out, the receiving corps is in shambles. LeSean McCoy (thumb) could be a bigger factor in the passing game, but he's expected to play after surgery on his thumb. It's hard to see him being able to withstand a lot of receptions. Check Woods' status later in the week as they prepare for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (knee) suffered a knee injury in Week 11 and was taken to the locker room.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see if Woods will be able to return to the game. He has been the team's No. 1 receiver with Sammy Watkins out and has played well. Justin Hunter, Percy Harvin and Charles Clay are all candidates to see more targets if Woods misses time but none of the players are great options.

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 08:39:43 -0800

Confirming a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (foot) is active for Week 11's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Woods is expected to be Buffalo's primary target in the passing game and is worth considering as a WR3 or flex option in all fantasy formats. Owners should not be concerned about his foot injury because he has played through the pain for nearly a month and was able to take part in every practice session leading up to this game.

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (foot) is expected to play in Week 8's game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Woods was limited in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the most recent edition of the injury report. View him as a high-risk WR3 or flex option in most fantasy formats.

Bills | Robert Woods likely to play Week 8?

Sat, 29 Oct 2016 10:15:28 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (foot) appears to be on track to play in Week 8 against the New England Patriots after the Bills failed to make a move at receiver during the week, according to WKBW's Joe Buscaglia.

Fantasy Tip: Woods spent all week in a walking boot, so a repeat of his seven-catch, 89-yard performance against New England in Week 4 appears highly unlikely. Assuming he can play, however, his return gives Tyrod Taylor at least one familiar face to throw to besides Charles Clay. Given the lack of playmakers in Buffalo, it is entirely likely Woods could be force-fed the ball if New England controls the game has many expect, although his injury makes his potential fantasy floor quite low. As such, treat him as a low-end WR3.

Bills | Robert Woods questionable for Week 8

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 12:48:34 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (foot) has been listed as questionable for Week 8 against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: With LeSean McCoy unlikely to go and Marquise Goodwin already ruled out, the Bills are down to Charles Clay and perhaps Woods as the only players capable of striking fear into the Patriots, and "striking fear" might be an overstatement. Assuming Woods plays, he should be considered a high-risk, low-end WR3.

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (foot) will not play in Week 7's game against the Miami Dolphins, according to a source. WR Justin Hunter will start in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Woods' deactivation should not come as a surprise because he was unable to practice during the week. Hunter is worthy of consideration as a flex option in deeper seasonal fantasy leagues.

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (foot) is wearing a walking boot but said he is doing everything he can to play in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Woods may be a game-time decision for the game, which would make him a risky option for owners. He has been the Bills' No. 1 receiver over the past few weeks, but owners in most leagues should be able to find other options to use because of his uncertain status.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of Woods' injury is not known, so his status for Week 7 is uncertain at this point. Fantasy Tip: Woods has become the No. 1 receiver for the Bills with Sammy Watkins out and has played well over the last few weeks. He has posted decent numbers over the last few weeks but probably should not be more than a No. 3 receiver or a flex option.

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 22:48:57 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods posted two receptions for 26 yards in the Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Rams on six targets.

Fantasy Tip: Woods was disappointing for fantasy owners expecting big things from him for a second straight week, as he attempts to fill the void left by Sammy Watkins. Right now he looks more like a depth fantasy player and not a regular starter.

Fantasy Tip: Woods was targeted 10 times during the game and will be the team's No. 1 receiver as long as Sammy Watkins is sidelined. Woods could be a low-end No. 3 receiver or a flex option in point-per-reception leagues because he will continue to be targeted in the passing game.

Bills | Robert Woods to get more involved?

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 10:47:16 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods received a nod from teammate Sammy Watkins recently, as Watkins suggested Woods "has been open and needs to get the ball more often", according to ESPN's Mike Rodak.

Fantasy Tip: Some may believe Watkins is backing off his "responsibility" of being a No. 1 receiver, but a quick listen to the interview proves that is not the case. New offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn has been tasked with getting the ball into Watkins' hands more often, but he would do well to find ways to get other players like Woods more involved as well. Until that actually happens, however, Woods is no better than a WR5.

Bills | Robert Woods could be replaced

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 18:34:25 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods had just two catches for more than 22 yards last year, and beat writer Jerry Sullivan believes QB Tyrod Taylor's love for the deep ball will lead to Woods being replaced as the No. 2 receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Woods' blocking ability will likely keep him on the field in Buffalo's run-heavy offense, but at best, he is a WR5. Don't be surprised if someone else emerges as the second-best fantasy receiver behind Sammy Watkins, but the depth chart is cloudy.

Bills | Robert Woods played with serious injury

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 13:38:09 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (groin) played with a torn groin on both the left and right side for about half the season last year. Woods said he feels great now, though, and he looked more quick and explosive this offseason, too. Additionally, wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said Woods' route-running is better than he's ever seen.

Woods said that his chemistry with QB Tyrod Taylor has also improved due to first-team repetitions with each other, and after playing together some of last season.

Fantasy Tip: It's easy to get hyped about a player during the offseason, but expectations should still be tempered for Woods. He'll probably be the Bills' No. 2 wide receiver, but he shouldn't be drafted as more than a WR5.

Bills | Robert Woods has had solid offseason

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 13:36:24 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods has performed well during offseason workouts, and wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal said Woods has been impressive in his route running. He has been explosive off the line, quick in and out of breaks and acrobatic while going for passes in the air, according to BuffaloBills.com's Chris Brown.

Fantasy Tip: Woods should have a good chance to win the No. 2 receiver job during training camp and will be healthy for training camp. He should have a solid role in the passing game and will be a decent late-round option in most leagues.

Fri, 27 May 2016 18:23:20 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods said he feels like he has his speed back this year and expects to be able to create separation from defenders.

Fantasy Tip: Woods has WR5 potential as the likely starter across from Sammy Watkins, and if Watkins' broken foot causes him to miss any time at the start of the year, Woods could be a sneaky play in daily formats.

Sat, 21 May 2016 08:16:32 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods has looked explosive during offseason workouts after dealing with injuries in 2015, according to QB Tyrod Taylor.

Fantasy Tip: Woods should be one of the starting receivers in 2016 and likely will have a solid role in the passing game. Woods should be a late-round option in deeper leagues and may be used as a matchup play by owners.

Bills | Robert Woods cleared for workouts

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 15:57:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (groin) has been cleared to participate in offseason workouts after he underwent groin surgery this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Woods is probably the top candidate for the No. 2 receiver job at this point but likely will have to compete with other receivers for the job. Woods posted 552 yards and three touchdowns in 2015 and probably should only be a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Bills | Robert Woods losing starting job?

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 12:22:24 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods was mentioned in a group of wide receivers by general manager Doug Whaley who are considered not to be No. 2 receivers. Whaley said the Bills have a mix of guys who may not be bona fide No. 2 receivers, but who they can use in different roles.

Fantasy Tip: Woods' play has been fairly lackluster over the course of his career. He has played well particularly when Sammy Watkins has been injured, but when Watkins is healthy there's not really another big receiving threat, as Whaley alluded to. Woods may still need to fight for a starting wide receiver position this offseason.
