Packers | Datone Jones and Mike Daniels will work in nickel packages

Thu, 03 Jul 2014 14:02:36 -0700

Green Bay Packers DE Datone Jones and DT Mike Daniels will tandem as the primary inside pass rushers in the nickel package. Jones would like to be a three-down player, but he has not carved out a role in obvious run situations. By his own admission, Jones relied too much on his quickness and athleticism last season rather than using his power. This year, he plans to attack offensive linemen with his strength in an effort improve upon his 3.5-sack rookie season.

Packers | Looking to rebuild defense to suit philosophy of DC

Wed, 12 Feb 2014 18:57:54 -0800

The Green Bay Packers are committed to rebuilding its defense in a way that best suits the philosophy of defensive coordinator Dom Capers, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. That means getting more athletics and versatile along the defensive line. That might be bad news for DT B.J. Raji, who turned down $8 million to stay with the team last season. The team wants linemen that better resemble DT Datone Jones. Raji and DT Ryan Pickett, who are 330 pounds, might no longer fit what the club wants to do.

Sun, 17 Nov 2013 00:52:37 -0800

Green Bay Packers DL Datone Jones has three sacks in his last two games, and the rookie lineman believes he is finally coming around after early-season injuries stunted his growth. I've had to get that in my mindset, that whenever I come on the field, it has to be a thousand percent," Jones said.
