Chiefs | Eric Fisher expected to work at RT

Sun, 12 May 2013 12:38:29 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs OT Eric Fisher said he expected to work at right tackle during the rookie minicamp because OT Branden Albert is the team's left tackle. "I kind of expected it. Albert is a great tackle, somebody I'll be able to learn from. I'm really looking forward to getting through this rookie camp and then learning from the veterans and just improving my game every day," Fisher said.

Chiefs | Eric Fisher selected first overall

Thu, 25 Apr 2013 17:16:28 -0700

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher with the first overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Fantasy Tip: Andy Reid picks his likely left tackle to protect Alex Smith in this West Coast offense. Their decision on whether to trade Branden Albert may force Fisher to learn on the fly, but either way, this gives Smith a better chance to immediately make an impact in this system as a solid fantasy backup. Jamaal Charles probably approves of this pick, as well.

Jaguars | OT likely target with No. 2 pick

Wed, 24 Apr 2013 06:20:46 -0700

There is growing speculation the Jacksonville Jaguars will either select Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel or Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft. If Joeckel goes to the Kansas City Chiefs first overall, then the Jaguars could take Fisher. If the Chiefs go with Fisher, the Jaguars could nab Joeckel. Since the team already has a left tackle in OT Eugene Monroe, the draft pick would be moved to right tackle and general manager David Caldwell said he could defend taking a right tackle in the second slot.

Wed, 20 Feb 2013 09:23:56 -0800

The San Diego Chargers are in need of a left tackle and would like to select one in the NFL Draft. The problem, however, is the position isn't deep at the top of the draft. The top left tackles are Texas A&M OT Luke Joeckel, Central Michigan's OT Eric Fisher and Oklahoma OT Lane Johnson. Joeckel will surely be a top-five selection, while Fisher and Johnson were stars at the Senior Bowl. If both players have strong performances at the NFL Scouting Combine, the Chargers may have to worry that both will be gone by the time they pick at No. 11.
