Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas and Phillip Sims are expected to see playing time in the third preseason game Sunday, Aug. 30, and the competition for the No. 3 quarterback job will continue during the final preseason game. Head coach Bruce Arians said Sims may enter the game before Thomas Sunday because the team wants to see Thomas in the two-minute drill.

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 05:48:06 -0700
Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas could be cut as it appears head coach Bruce Arians has seen enough, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Josh Weinfuss. During minicamp, Thomas' place in the quarterback rotation kept fluctuating. Thomas barely played in the final OTA - although Arians said it was because he practiced a lot the day before.

Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas isn't a sure bet for the No. 3 quarterback job in Arizona anymore. Head coach Bruce Arians said the job is wide open, with QBs Chandler Harnish and Phillip Sims also competing. Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton are the No. 1 and No. 2 quarterbacks, respectively.

Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas will receive a lot of reps during offseason workouts, according to head coach Bruce Arians. "He's going to get a ton of work and those reps are invaluable," Arians said. "Just in decision-making, how fast you're getting it out of your hand, where you're going with it, where you're going when 'one' and 'two' are still covered. Are you still scrambling around or are you going to find your outlets? That growth process comes strictly from reps."

Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas didn't start at the end of last season because head coach Bruce Arians didn't want to hurt his long-term development. "We drafted him for two years from now, not November," Arians said, via the team's official website. "It just so happened his number got called (earlier.) I was not going to let him fail because once you fail those scars never go away."

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas has been named the starting quarterback for Week 17, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
Fantasy Tip: Thomas has only attempted nine passes this season but his only completion went for an 81-yard touchdown earlier in the season. Owners on FantasyScore probably should avoid using Thomas this week.
Mon, 22 Dec 2014 11:04:29 -0800
Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas could be the starting quarterback for Week 17, but head coach Bruce Arians has not made a decision. Arians said he is leaning toward Thomas for the start. Arians said things could change if Thomas does not practice well this week and that Thomas would be on a short leash if he receives the start.
Fantasy Tip: Thomas only attempted one pass in the team's Week 16 game but may be the starter this week. He will be playing a solid San Francisco 49ers defense in Week 17 and may not be the best option to use on FantasyScore.
Mon, 15 Dec 2014 11:18:39 -0800
Arizona Cardinals QB Ryan Lindley will be the starting quarterback in Week 16, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Arians said the team will also have a package for QB Logan Thomas during the game.
Fantasy Tip: Lindley will start in place of Drew Stanton (knee) but will be facing a very good Seattle Seahawks defense in Week 16. Owners should not consider using Lindley has a starting option this upcoming week.
Sun, 14 Dec 2014 17:27:10 -0800
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said Sunday, Dec. 14, that the team could have a package for QB Logan Thomas in Week 16 against the Seattle Seahawks even if he isn't named the starting quarterback.
Fantasy Tip: Whether he starts or otherwise, Thomas is not an attractive enough fantasy option, especially against the Seahawks, to warrant usage in FantasyScore or any other formats.
Fri, 12 Dec 2014 17:43:53 -0800
Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas and QB Ryan Lindley are both options to start in Week 16, but head coach Bruce Arians said Friday, Dec. 12, that he won't make a decision on a starter until Sunday, Dec. 14.
Fantasy Tip: Regardless of which player ends up under center, they shouldn't be considered a viable starter at FantasyScore in Week 16 with the Cardinals set to face the top-ranked pass defense of Seattle.
Fri, 12 Dec 2014 09:11:40 -0800
Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (knee) will undergo more tests when the team returns to Arizona, according to head coach Bruce Arians. "We'll take it very slow with him and see how it goes once we get in the MRI and all that information," Arians said. Stanton suffered a right knee injury as a rookie in 2007 and had surgery, and he also tore ligaments in his right knee in 2003 in college. QB Ryan Lindley replaced Stanton in the game Thursday, Dec. 11, with Arians electing Lindley over rookie QB Logan Thomas because of Lindley's experience.
Fantasy Tip: We should know the extent of Stanton's injury later today or tomorrow. If he's forced to miss time, the team will likely stick with Lindley at QB. You can ignore Lindley in all leagues, including at FantasyScore.

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 09:58:11 -0700
Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas took all of the first-team repetitions in practice this week and appears poised to start in Week 6 against the Washington Redskins. The Cardinals are still holding out hope that QB Drew Stanton (concussion) will be able to pass his concussion tests before Sunday, Oct. 12, though. Thomas went just 1-for-8 after replacing Stanton last week, and teammates have been impressed with his strong arm. The game plan isn't expected to change with Thomas under center, but they'll make sure not too much is put on his plate. Stanton remains asymptomatic and is hoping to play Sunday.
Fantasy Tip: Carson Palmer (shoulder) isn't even in the discussion, so you can basically rule him out. Stanton seems unlikely to play this late in the week. With Thomas starting, make sure to downgrade all of Arizona's receiving options for your daily lineups at FantasyScore. Andre Ellington could be heavily involved again to take pressure off of Thomas.
Wed, 08 Oct 2014 13:27:23 -0700
Arizona Cardinals QB Logan Thomas will take first-team repetitions in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
Fantasy Tip: With both Carson Palmer (shoulder) and Drew Stanton (concussion) iffy for Week 6 against the Washington Redskins, Thomas could receive the start. We don't recommend starting him at FantasyScore, though, if that's the case.
Mon, 06 Oct 2014 09:30:16 -0700
Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Stanton (concussion) suffered a concussion in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos. Stanton will go through the league's concussion protocol this week. The team may have to turn to QB Logan Thomas in Week 6 with QB Carson Palmer (shoulder) suffering from a nerve injury in his right shoulder.
Fantasy Tip: Stanton's chances of returning to face the Washington Redskins aren't good, and the timetable on Palmer's return is unknown. If Thomas has to start in Week 6, you'll need to expect less from all of Arizona's receiving options.

Arizona Cardinals rookie QB Logan Thomas has impressed ESPN analyst Ron Jaworski in training camp. "When I plugged the tape in yesterday morning and I saw Logan Thomas, I was shocked. He was fantastic in this game (against the Texans). He's big, strong and he can rip throws," Jaworski said. "... Of all the rookie quarterbacks that I've watched so far -- yes, early in the preseason -- Logan Thomas has been the best that I have seen." Thomas was 11-for-12 for 113 yards and a touchdown against the Houston Texans' backups in the first preseason game. However, head coach Bruce Arians said QB Drew Stanton still has the backup job secure behind QB Carson Palmer.
Fantasy Tip: That's great for Thomas, but unless injuries occur above him on the depth chart, he's unlikely to see any significant playing time in 2014.

The New York Jets have every intention to bring in competition at almost every position next season, including at starting quarterback, where QB Mark Sanchez will have plenty of competition. Before general manager Mike Tannenbaum was let go, the team also considered the possibility of bringing in free-agent QB JaMarcus Russell (Raiders). The team also spent plenty of time with North Carolina State QB Mike Glennon at the Senior Bowl last week. "I think he's champing at the bit," GM John Idzik said of Sanchez.
