The New Orleans Saints have signed first-round draft choice S Kenny Vaccaro to a four-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

New Orleans Saints first-round pick S Kenny Vaccaro is expected to push for one of the starting safety spots. General manager Mickey Loomis said the team would explore playing FS Malcolm Jenkins at nickel back to get Vaccaro on the field in nickel packages.

Updating a previous report, the San Francisco 49ers acquired the No. 18 overall pick from the Dallas Cowboys, who elected to trade down after missing out on SS Kenny Vaccaro (Saints) and DT Sheldon Richardson (Jets). The Cowboys moved down to No. 31 in the first round, and added the No. 74 overall selection, a third-round pick.

The Dallas Cowboys were hopeful of landing Texas SS Kenny Vaccaro (Saints) or DT Sheldon Richardson (Jets) with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, but those players are gone. They are not trying to trade down, with the Atlanta Falcons, and perhaps the San Francisco 49ers, as potential trade partners.

Fantasy Tip: He's a playmaker who could produce takeaways, making him an IDP stab. But Rob Ryan's system doesn't always provide many opportunities for fantasy points in the secondary, and the Saints' D as a whole still needs to rebuild before being a team worth considering for your lineup.
