Texans | DeAndre Hopkins not spotted at practice

Wed, 22 Nov 2017 11:23:32 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (undisclosed) was not at the portion of practice open to the media Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins has yet to miss a game in his career, and there have been no reports of him suffering an injury in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals, so owners can probably treat this as a day off for a veteran who has little to gain by going through a whole week of practice.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins visits end zone again

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 18:34:02 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins went for four receptions, 76 yards and a touchdown on nine targets in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Nuke hasn't skipped a beat with Tom Savage under center, posting at least for grabs and 76 yards with two touchdowns in three games since DeShaun Watson went down. He remains a WR1 in all fantasy formats heading into Week 12 against the Ravens on Monday Night Football.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins tops 100 yards

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 20:33:51 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins caught seven passes on 14 targets for 111 yards in a 33-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Tom Savage has targeted Hopkins a whopping 30 times in the last two games, and that type of volume should keep Hopkins in the WR2 range going forward.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins posts 86 yards, TD

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 15:22:27 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins managed six receptions for a team-high 86 yards and a touchdown on 16 targets in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: New quarterback Tom Savage looked Nuke's way early and often, which is a good sign for his fantasy owners. The stat line wasn't bad, so fantasy owners expecting a big drop off with DeShaun Watson out for the year, it appears things aren't as bad as it seems.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins makes mark on history

Mon, 30 Oct 2017 14:57:45 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins became the fifth player in NFL history to achieve two games of at least 220 yards in the first five years of his career.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins, as rookie DeShaun Watson's go-to target, has been playing out of his mind. He's averaging one touchdown per game and leads the league with seven scores. He is the WR1 on the season and is a must start every week.

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 19:03:41 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins racked up eight receptions for 224 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins walked out of practice due to controversial comments by the team's owner, but he certainly was on point and focused on the field Sunday, putting any worries of fantasy owners to rest early. The highlight of the day was a 72-yard second-half touchdown. His previous season-best yardage total was 107 yards back on Oct. 1.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins' absence due to protest

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 12:01:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins missed practice Friday, Oct. 27, as a form of protest to recent insensitive remarks made by team owner Bob McNair.

Fantasy Tip: Per ESPN's Sarah Barshop, a number of Texans' players had to be "persuaded" not to walk out of the building Friday when they learned what McNair said during a recent meeting between players and team owners. Head coach Bill O'Brien told the media earlier in the day he expected Hopkins to play in Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks, so fantasy owners can breathe easy for now.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins not at practice Friday?

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 10:39:50 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins was not present at the open portion of practice Friday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins was not listed on the injury report Wednesday or Thursday, so this could be something as simple as and excused absence that went unreported to the media. The team will release their official injury report for Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks later this afternoon, so we'll find out fairly quickly if this is something owners need to concern themselves with this weekend.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins scores in win

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 14:46:06 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins posted two receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: The touchdown was nice but the yardage total was not something fantasy owners can be terribly pleased about. Nuke has five total touchdowns over his first three games, as he and Will Fuller have co-existed. However, Hopkins was the loser this week in terms of receiving yardage. His 9.5 yards per grab were his lowest since Week 1. The Texans are off in Week 7 for their bye.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins over 100 receiving yards

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 14:34:14 -0700

Houston Texans QB DeAndre Hopkins caught 10 passes for 107 yards and scored a touchdown in a 57-14 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins' stock continues to grow with each week, especially with a QB like DeShaun Watson at his disposal. Watson should be a mid-to-low range WR1 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins limited again

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 14:33:31 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins' injury doesn't sound serious enough to force him to be sidelined, but his status should be monitored heading into the weekend nonetheless. His matchup against the Tennessee Titans is most favorable. Start Hopkins as a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins limited in practice

Wed, 27 Sep 2017 14:38:16 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins hasn't scored since Week 1, but his yardage totals have increased in each game so far this season. He also has managed seven receptions in each of his first three games while racking up 37 total targets. He remains a solid fantasy option, especially so in PPR formats.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins continues strong play

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 14:33:33 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins caught seven passes for 76 yards against the New England Patriots in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins has the ability to produce no matter the starting quarterback and appears to be continuing that trend with Deshaun Watson as the starter. He should be at least a No. 2 fantasy receiver in most leagues.

Texans | No hiding DeAndre Hopkins

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 21:54:30 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins has been facing double-teams all season because "everyone in the league knows we're going to throw the ball to Hopkins," head coach Bill O'Brien said.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins has had trouble breaking loose for big plays, but with 29 targets and 14 receptions through two games, he can still be deployed as a WR2 against the Patriots in Week 3.

Texans | Chemistry growing for DeAndre Hopkins

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 18:55:53 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins said the chemistry between he and QB Deshaun Watson is improving every day. "We're growing, we're getting to know each other, and it's getting better, I can say," Hopkins said.

Fantasy Tip: In their first full game together, Watson targeted Hopkins 13 times. The big plays haven't been there, but the huge workload should make him a low-end WR2, especially in PPR formats, against the Patriots in Week 3.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins leading NFL in targets

Tue, 19 Sep 2017 19:31:07 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins has 29 targets through Week 2, making him easily the most targeted receiver in the league through two games.

Fantasy Tip: To give you some sense of how much the Texans are relying on him, 24 of rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson's 47 pass attempts in six quarters of action have been thrown in direction of Hopkins. The fifth-year wideout has responded with seven receptions in each of his first two games but is averaging only 9.1 yards per catch. Life won't get any easier in Week 3 when the New England Patriots will almost certainly force Watson to rely on his other receivers. Nevertheless, Hopkins is a solid WR2 in fantasy.

Texans | Plenty of looks for DeAndre Hopkins

Thu, 14 Sep 2017 20:53:05 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins caught seven of his 13 targets for 73 yards in a 13-9 win over the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins saw more targets than the rest of the team combined, but neither Tom Savage nor Deshaun Watson has shown the ability to connect with him consistently, especially on deeper throws. Hopkins looked stuck as a high-upside WR3 for now.

Wed, 13 Sep 2017 15:22:09 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (wrist) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 13, and is not on the injury report for Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins will be a focal point of offense no matter who starts at quarterback and likely will lead the team in targets. He can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues this week.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins a full participant

Mon, 11 Sep 2017 15:38:45 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (wrist) fully participated in the team's walkthrough Monday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins was targeted 16 times in Week 1 and will continue to be the main target in the passing game no matter the starting quarterback. He can be considered a No. 2 fantasy receiver against the Cincinnati Bengals this week.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins a target machine

Mon, 11 Sep 2017 14:39:11 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins saw 16 targets in the Texans' Week 1 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The rest of Houston's offense had 16 targets combined.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins will be targeted plenty no matter who the quarterback is, but he benefitted more from Deshaun Watson. He only totaled 54 yards on the 16 targets, but he did tally seven catches, including a touchdown. Hopkins remains a WR1 this week as the Texans' go-to receiving threat.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins targeted 16 times

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 18:16:34 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins caught seven passes on 16 targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in a 29-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: It's nice to see the heavy usage, but until Houston can find a quarterback who can consistently hook up with Hopkins, the receiver's value is going to be capped. Consider him a WR3 heading into a Thursday night matchup with Cincinnati in Week 2.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins takes part in practice

Wed, 06 Sep 2017 16:08:14 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (thumb) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins missed most of the preseason because of the injury but will be on the field for Week 1. He will see plenty of targets in the passing game this week and can be No. 2 receiver.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins pronounces himself healthy

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 10:15:36 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (thumb) told reporters he is "1,000 percent" recovered from the thumb injury that sidelined him for a few weeks during the preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins didn't get much time to bond with new quarterback Tom Savage in August, but he's a solid candidate to be force-fed targets among a receiving corps that will be missing Will Fuller released a few weeks and possibly Braxton Miller for the opener. Consider him a solid WR2 with WR1 upside if Savage proves to be even an average NFL quarterback and can stay healthy for any length of time.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins says he's healthy

Mon, 04 Sep 2017 09:53:19 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (thumb) said he's "1,000 percent healthy," when asked if he was 100 percent Monday, Sept. 4.

Fantasy Tip: Nuk slumped to a 78-954-4 line in 2016 after emerging as a WR1 the previous season. A lot of that can be attributed to the brutal QB play, which may still be an issue this season. He's a WR2 in fantasy.

Texans | More on DeAndre Hopkins' extension

Thu, 31 Aug 2017 16:12:47 -0700

Texans | Contract extension for DeAndre Hopkins

Thu, 31 Aug 2017 15:55:31 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension with the Texans Thursday, Aug. 31, according to sources. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal will include the largest guarantee for any receiver in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins has played well over the last several seasons even though the Texans have used multiple quarterbacks during that time. He has recorded at least 1,000 yards in two of the last three seasons and has 15 touchdowns over the last two seasons. Hopkins will receive plenty of targets in 2017 and should be considered a No. 2 fantasy receiver in most leagues.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins a no-go Saturday

Sat, 26 Aug 2017 17:50:37 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (hand) did not play in the team's third preseason game against the New Orleans Saints on Saturday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: His absence was expected, as he has not practiced in two weeks. While the Texans have consistently said they will be smart with their top receiver, the amount of practice he has missed with what has been termed a "minor hand injury" is a slight concern. Hopkins figures to see plenty of volume this season, making him a solid WR2 in most leagues.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins does not practice

Mon, 21 Aug 2017 18:14:45 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (hand) did not participate in practice Monday, Aug. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins has not practiced much over the last few weeks but probably will be ready for the start of the regular season. He has performed well over the last several years even though the Texans have used multiple quarterbacks during that span. He should be at least a No. 2 receiver in fantasy leagues this season.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins sits out again

Tue, 15 Aug 2017 23:35:03 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins did not practice Tuesday, Aug. 15, and he has not practiced since Monday, Aug. 7. Head coach Bill O'Brien indicated that Hopkins is "doing fine," and has previously likened Hopkins' practice schedule leading up to the regular season as being on a "pitch count."

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners shouldn't worry themselves about Hopkins' health. The concerns stem from uncertainty at quarterback, but Hopkins is a proven producer that should offer a statistical floor as a WR2.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins sits out Saturday

Sat, 12 Aug 2017 12:05:06 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins did not participate in practice Saturday, Aug. 12, because he received the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins has been a productive player for the Texans no matter who the quarterback has been, so owners should expect another good season from him. He has recorded at least 1,000 yards in two of the last three seasons and has 15 touchdowns over the last two seasons. He should be at least a No. 2 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins endorses Tom Savage

Fri, 04 Aug 2017 20:00:13 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins believes QB Tom Savage should open the year as the starter. "If anybody should be a judge of quarterbacks, I've played with the most quarterbacks in NFL history throughout my first four years," Hopkins said. "So I put the stamp on Savage, and I think that's all that needs to be said about that."

Fantasy Tip: The quarterback situation in Houston still isn't ideal, but Hopkins is no worse than a WR2 this season.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins expected to report on time

Sun, 23 Jul 2017 13:22:50 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins has not made a lot of progress in contract extension talks with the Texans but is expected to report to training camp on time. Both sides are motivated to reach an agreement on a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins will continue to be the focal point in the passing game in 2017 and will look to improve on his stats from last season. He will be working with an inexperience quarterback this season but should still be able to be one of the better receivers in the NFL. He probably should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins hoping to stay

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 19:55:37 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins said he feels the city has embraced him and Houston feels like his hometown. "I love being here," Hopkins said. "I love playing for this team, great organization."

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins suffered from poor quarterback play last season, but he is just two years removed from a 111-catch, 1,521-yard campaign. Don't be surprised if he recaptures his WR1 form this season.

Texans | Tom Savage taking advantage of reps

Sat, 03 Jun 2017 21:01:31 -0700

Houston Texans QB Tom Savage said taking reps with the first-team offense has been a great opportunity to work on his timing and communication with WR DeAndre Hopkins and the other starters.

Fantasy Tip: Savage is just keeping the seat warm for Deshaun Watson, and even if he breaks camp as the starter, Savage is low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins learning from Wes Welker

Fri, 26 May 2017 20:40:51 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins said it has been great learning from assistant coach Wes Welker.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins was the victim of poor quarterback play last year, but the WR1 upside is still there. If he slips past the first few rounds, don't hesitate to snatch him up.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins wanted Deshaun Watson

Thu, 27 Apr 2017 19:37:59 -0700

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins told the media prior to the 2017 NFL Draft that he would love to have QB Deshaun Watson throwing him the ball.

Fantasy Tip: If Watkins can break camp as the starter, he will be worth a flier as a low-end QB2 in redraft leagues. He has QB1 potential long term, giving him even more value in keeper formats and rookie drafts.

Texans | HOU intent on signing DeAndre Hopkins

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 08:45:49 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins is a player the team is intent on signing to a contract extension, according to general manager Rick Smith.

Fantasy Tip: Nuk saw a huge decrease in production last year, but a lot of it was due to spotty quarterback play. It still has some wondering if his 111-1,521-11 dominance in 2015 was an aberration with two modest lines on each side. The upside is there, and who's to complain if he falls to the low-end WR1 range?

Patriots | New England pursued DeAndre Hopkins

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 11:04:20 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins was a primary trade target for the New England Patriots during the season. Prior to dealing LB Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns for a conditional third-round pick, the Patriots asked for Hopkins in a potential trade for Collins.

Fantasy Tip: Collins' tendency to freelance and miss assignments went play any better for Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel than it did for Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia, but the offer is still interesting nonetheless. As it is now, Hopkins has stated he loves playing in Houston and the Texans are interested in extending his contract, so expect him to remain in Texas for the foreseeable future.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins may receive new deal

Wed, 01 Feb 2017 12:14:52 -0800

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair said the team will try to sign WR DeAndre Hopkins to a long-term extension this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins had a disappointing 2016 season and finished with 954 yards and four touchdowns during the regular season. He played better during the playoffs with 11 catches for 132 yards and one touchdown in two games. He will continue to be the team's top receiver in the passing game in 2017 and can be a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 receiver in leagues depending on the quarterback situation.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins kept mostly in check

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 21:12:39 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins tallied six receptions for 65 yards in a Divisional Round loss to the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins was able to find a better connection with Brock Osweiler late in the season and had nine targets in this one, but 2016 will still go down as a bust for "Nuk" in large part because Osweiler struggled so much in getting him the ball downfield. This offseason should present a nice buy-low window for patient owners, but those in redraft should probably consider him a WR2 at best until they see significant improvement from Osweiler.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins not on injury report

Fri, 13 Jan 2017 14:36:26 -0800

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 13, but is not on the injury report for the Divisional round playoff game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins will be a big factor in the passing game even though he is dealing with the knee injury. He likely will lead the team in targets during the game and can be considered a No. 2 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins limited, but will play

Fri, 13 Jan 2017 11:51:14 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) was limited at practice for the third straight day Friday, Jan. 13, but he will be "set to go" in the team's Divisional Round playoff game Saturday, Jan. 14, versus the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: He's not listed as questionable or doubtful, so this ensures Hopkins will be out there come kickoff. Nuk should see plenty of work in this one, with the Texans likely to throw his way a lot throughout the contest. If the expected scenario of the Patriots blowing out the Texans plays out, Houston could be passing virtually all game, which only adds up to extra looks for Hopkins. As a result, he does have fine WR1 potential this weekend.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins limited Thursday

Thu, 12 Jan 2017 16:07:16 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) was a limited participant in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins played in all 16 games this season and he'll be out there on Saturday night. He's in an interesting spot, as the Texans are likely to get blown out in New England, meaning Houston could be throwing a lot more than usual to try and keep up. No matter how it plays out, Hopkins looks like a fine WR1 option this weekend for all formats.

Texans | DeAndre Hopkins says knee is fine

Thu, 12 Jan 2017 12:36:57 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) said his injured knee feels excellent.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 11, but should see his normal workload against the New England Patriots. He posted solid numbers in the Wild Card playoff game but will be facing a tougher defense this week. Owners should consider him a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in fantasy leagues.

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins probably will be ready to play against the New England Patriots, but owners should check on his status later in the week. He recorded 67 yards and one touchdown in the Wild Card playoff game and will continue to be a main part of the passing game. Owners in fantasy leagues should consider him a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver.

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins finished with five catches for 67 yards and a touchdown in a Wild Card playoff win over the Oakland Raiders.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins had nine targets and showed better-than-usual chemistry with Brock Osweiler, who looked better than he has most of the season as Houston picked up the tempo to run out to an early lead. Hopkins' score with 1:20 left in the second quarter came on a quick 2-yard slant and essentially put the nail in the coffin for the Raiders. Whether the Texans face the Kansas City Chiefs or the New England Patriots on the road next week, Hopkins will hard-pressed to post anything more than WR3 production.

Texans | Nuke Hopkins ends on high note

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 16:20:08 -0800

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins posted seven receptions for 123 yards on 11 targets in the regular season finale in Week 17 against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Hopkins had a disappointing year by his standards, finishing with his lowest yardage total (954) and touchdowns (4) since his rookie campaign of 2013. While Hopkins was a disappointment in the regular season, he still has WR2 ability for those playing postseason pools and DFS.
