Packers | Eddie Lacy looking to score big

Fri, 26 Sep 2014 18:05:39 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy has faced his team's Week 4 opponent, the Chicago Bears, just twice. He posted a rushing touchdown in each matchup last season, and he ran for 150 yards on 22 carries in the Week 9 matchup against the Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy has struggled during the early going, averaging a paltry 3.1 yards per carry while failing to find the end zone on the ground or through the air. In fact, his highest rush total of the season is 43 yards in Week 2. At $8000, his FantasyScore salary is a bit high, but with the Bears ranking just 26th in the NFL against the rush, good things could be just around the corner for the Packers runner.

Packers | Eddie Lacy needs to run lower

Thu, 25 Sep 2014 10:36:13 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy is off to a slow start this season, and he offered an explanation for his struggles in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions. "I need to work on keeping my pads low," Lacy said. "There were a few times last week where I was running kind of high, and I just figured that out. This week, definitely get my pads down when I'm running." Even though Lacy had a costly fumble against the Lions early in the game, he's not worried about his ball security. It was his first fumble since his rookie debut in Week 1 last year.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy started slow last season, as well, before turning things on. Stay patient. The one worry is that the Packers offensive line won't open enough running lanes for Lacy to excel. Week 4 against the Chicago Bears could be a perfect opportunity for him to get going.

Packers | Eddie Lacy called out by coach

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 17:46:09 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy was criticized by head coach Mike McCarthy during a press conference Monday, Sept. 22, for missing opportunities to reach the second level on runs during the team's Week 3 game. "Eddie needs to play better," McCarthy said. "I'm not going to do this anymore. I don't correct individuals in the media. We've seen the film, corrections have been made, our running game wasn't nearly what it needed to be. Not even close."

Fantasy Tip: Lacy should continue to have running lanes with most defenses choosing to drop their safeties back to slow down Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay passing attack, and his inability to make opponents pay has had a negative impact on the entire offense. That being said, Lacy will have a golden opportunity to jump start his season in Week 4 against a Chicago defense that ranks 31st at stopping the run after two games. If his price tag at FantasyScore slips because of his struggles, Lacy could make a decent play.

Packers | Eddie Lacy struggling

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 06:05:34 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy had five of 11 carries Sunday, Sept. 21, go for no gain or negative yardage. Lacy acknowledged defenses may know how to contain him with a year's worth of tape on him now. "That could be it," Lacy said. "But no matter what it is, it's still my job. I'm still supposed to be able to run the ball in and make sure - not every run is going to be 10 yards - but make sure we get something positive."

Fantasy Tip: Lacy can't continue to play this poorly and could break out any given week. Check his price tag on FantasyScore for Week 4, and he could be a good value play.

Sun, 14 Sep 2014 12:25:25 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) is active for the team's Week 2 game.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy has been cleared to play and should get most of the work at running back. He is a solid starting option for owners.

Packers | Eddie Lacy may change run style

Sat, 13 Sep 2014 23:35:25 -0700

Because Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (head) has suffered two concussions in as many years, he is debating a change to his running style. "I have to figure out a way to change the way I run but still keep the physical part of it. It's not really something I'm trying to change as of now. I guess as I get older, I'll figure out how it goes," Lacy said.

Fantasy Tip: With two concussions in a one-year span, any change that keeps a running back out of trouble is a welcome one. It's too soon to tell how any change would affect Lacy, who is still a solid fantasy option if he plays Sunday, Sept. 14 against the New York Jets.

Packers | Eddie Lacy listed as probable

Fri, 12 Sep 2014 10:38:41 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) is listed as probable for Week 2 against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: The chance of re-injury will always be in the back of your mind, but Lacy should see significant work to have a good chance of returning a nice profit on his $5,600 investment at FantasyScore.

Packers | Eddie Lacy will play in Week 2

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 14:22:27 -0700

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) has been fully cleared and will play in Week 2 against the New York Jets, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. Lacy fully practiced Thursday, Sept. 11. Lacy said he plans to go back to the old helmet he wore last year after trying the new Riddell "SpeedFlex" helmet in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks. "Somehow I'll have to figure out a way to change the way I run, but still keep the physical part of it," Lacy said. "It's not really something I'm trying to change as of now. I guess as I get older I will figure out how it goes."

Fantasy Tip: Lacy will come at a discounted price this week at FantasyScore ($5,600; 11.2% of cap) because of his injury, and you might want to take advantage of that against the Jets.

Packers | Eddie Lacy should play

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 12:25:43 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 11. Lacy should be ready to play in the team's Week 2 game.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy should be good to go for Week 2, but he could be a risky play health wise with a FantasyScore price of $5,600 (11.20% of cap) for Week 2. Check for options without the health concerns.

Packers | Eddie Lacy in pads

Thu, 11 Sep 2014 10:20:05 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) is on the practice field in full pads Thursday, Sept. 11.

Fantasy Tip: It is great news that Lacy is back at practice after suffering a concussion in the team's Week 1 game. Check back after practice to get a further update. Lacy has a FantasyScore price of $5,600 (11.20% of cap) for Week 2.

Packers | Eddie Lacy might be cleared

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 22:00:09 -0700

Updating a previous report, Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) is in the final stages of the concussion protocol, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. The final hurdle for Lacy is being cleared by an independent neurologist.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy might be able to play in the home opener against the New York Jets in Week 2. FantasyScore owners will want to wait until Friday to see if he is officially cleared and able to practice without any setbacks. Even then, there is still some risk in starting him.

Packers | Eddie Lacy not taking part

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 10:32:36 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) is attending practice Wednesday, Sept. 10, but is not participating.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy needs to pass his concussion tests before being cleared to play. Owners will need to see if Lacy is able to practice in the next two days before deciding on their starting lineups. There is a chance Lacy will not play, so James Starks could be a solid option if he gets the start. Starks costs $4,700 at FantasyScore, which should be a nice price for a starter.

Packers | Eddie Lacy won't miss extended time

Tue, 09 Sep 2014 11:23:09 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) isn't expected to miss significant time, but head coach Mike McCarthy said he'll need to be cleared by an independent neurologist before returning. RB James Starks would be the starting running back if Lacy can't return in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: The good news is that Lacy will have over a week to recover before Week 2 against the New York Jets. However, he's no sure thing to return. Avoiding his $5,600 (11.2% of cap) FantasyScore price is smart. Starks, at $4,100 (8.2% of cap), may present a solid bargain if Lacy doesn't play.

Packers | Eddie Lacy clears first step

Fri, 05 Sep 2014 16:05:32 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) has cleared the first stage of the concussion protocol, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. McCarthy said he was told Lacy was feeling good Friday, Sept. 5.

Fantasy Tip: It is a good start for Lacy, but his status for Week 2 is uncertain at this point. Owners will need to see if he is able to practice next week before setting their lineups.

Packers | Eddie Lacy suffers concussion

Thu, 04 Sep 2014 21:28:19 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) suffered a concussion during the team's 36-16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, Sept. 4. Lacy had 12 carries for 34 yards before heading to the locker room in the fourth quarter.

Fantasy Tip: The injury capped a tough night for Lacy, and he didn't come close to performing up to his $8,000 price tag (16% of cap) in FantasyScore. Lacy missed a game last year after suffering a concussion so watch for updates on his status for Week 2 over the coming days.

Packers | Eddie Lacy may have concussion

Thu, 04 Sep 2014 20:35:42 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (head) left the team's game Thursday, Sept. 4, and is being evaluated for a concussion. His return is questionable.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy's services in FantasyScore don't come cheap, and his $8,000 salary (16% of cap) for Week 1 is the fourth highest at his position. Keep an eye on his status going forward, and make sure he is full strength before paying the hefty price tag in Week 2.

Packers | Eddie Lacy receives praise

Wed, 27 Aug 2014 14:37:44 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy could be the leading rusher in the NFL in 2014, according to running backs coach Sam Gash. "Without a doubt," Gash said. "He has the capability of being the leading rusher and maybe even combined yards if he catches a lot of balls. I absolutely do think that. "I think he's a bell cow. He's a big guy, and he's physical."

Fantasy Tip: Lacy has a chance to be one of the best running backs in fantasy football in 2014, and should be drafted as an RB1 in all formats.

Tue, 12 Aug 2014 16:34:11 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy is not expected to see a big workload during the preseason, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

Packers | Eddie Lacy draws lofty praise

Tue, 05 Aug 2014 00:02:44 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy was compared to former NFL RBs Curtis Martin and Jamal Lewis by Packers running backs coach Sam Gash. Lewis ran for 2,066 yards in 2003, and Martin rushed his way into the Hall of Fame -- Gash, a former fullback, blocked for both backs during their careers. "I compare because he deserves it," Gash said. Packers offensive coordinator Tom Clements said Lacy has become a better practice player.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy is poised for a strong fantasy year and should be a very capable RB1 in all formats.

Packers | Eddie Lacy having a superb camp

Fri, 01 Aug 2014 08:59:01 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy is enjoying a strong training camp one week in, breaking powerful runs into the secondary on a daily basis. "You know, I don't think he even cares if it's a zone or a gap scheme," backup Packers QB Matt Flynn said. "He's going to find the hole. He's one of those guys that hates being on the ground." Lacy "couldn't have looked any better," according to one media source.

Fantasy Tip: That is great news for fantasy owners! Lacy, 24, has all of the makings of a stud fantasy back for years to come. Expect him to live up to his mid-RB1 draft placement in 2014.

Packers | More on Eddie Lacy's snap count

Thu, 17 Jul 2014 05:32:47 -0700

Updating a previous report, the Green Bay Packers want to keep RB Eddie Lacy on the field for all three downs, not necessarily to touch the ball more, but to keep substitutions from slowing down the offense. He'll need to improve his pass blocking and should see an increase in targets. Lacy is a solid RB1 that could see more value in PPR leagues than last season.

Packers | Want Eddie Lacy to be more involved

Tue, 15 Jul 2014 16:25:45 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy will try to be more involved in all aspects of the game, according to offensive coordinator Tom Clements. Clements admitted the team hasn't figured out how many carries they want Lacy to have this year.

Fantasy Tip: Perhaps this means Lacy will be more involved in the passing game this year. It's easy to speculate at this point in time, but as long as Lacy is healthy, he should be an RB1 in 2014.

Packers | Would like to lessen workload for Eddie Lacy

Wed, 25 Jun 2014 15:31:50 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy is ready for another season of 250 or 300 carries in 2014, but the team would like to lessen the burden for Lacy in an attempt to help keep him healthy.

Fantasy Tip: Keeping Lacy healthy long term is the goal, but Green Bay will ride him when it counts. Fewer carries could me more big plays, since Aaron Rodgers forces defenders to play honestly. RBs James Starks and DuJuan Harris have lukewarm fantasy appeal; Starks is the more appropriate handcuff for Lacy owners. The second-year Alabama back remains a strong first-round pick in all formats.

Packers | Looking for Eddie Lacy to become three-down RB

Fri, 21 Feb 2014 18:08:49 -0800

Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said he would like RB Eddie Lacy to become more comfortable with playing on all three downs. "Eddie Lacy obviously had a heck of a year," McCarthy said. "He was a primary player for us, [a] play-maker. Eddie's focus is on being a three-down player. He has to play all three downs throughout the whole game."

Fantasy Tip: Lacy would gain more value if he is on the field for all three downs next season, because he could also become more involved in the passing game. Lacy could become a strong No. 1 running back if he is able to play on all downs.

He entered training camp as the team's starting running back, but a right knee injury sidelined him in the offseason, recurred in the preseason and landed him on season-ending Injured Reserve. He said at midseason that there was fluid on the knee and irritation of the patellar tendon, but no structural damage after surgery in August.
