Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy is not expected to see a big workload during the preseason, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.
Fantasy Tip: This is definitely a smart approach by McCarthy and the Packers. Lacy will see plenty of work once the season starts and should be drafted as an RB1 in all scoring formats.
Sat, 09 Aug 2014 15:52:51 -0700
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Eddie Lacy and WR Jordy Nelson will not play in the first preseason game Saturday, Aug. 9.

Tue, 05 Aug 2014 00:02:44 -0700
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy was compared to former NFL RBs Curtis Martin and Jamal Lewis by Packers running backs coach Sam Gash. Lewis ran for 2,066 yards in 2003, and Martin rushed his way into the Hall of Fame -- Gash, a former fullback, blocked for both backs during their careers. "I compare because he deserves it," Gash said. Packers offensive coordinator Tom Clements said Lacy has become a better practice player.
Fantasy Tip: Lacy is poised for a strong fantasy year and should be a very capable RB1 in all formats.
Fri, 01 Aug 2014 08:59:01 -0700
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy is enjoying a strong training camp one week in, breaking powerful runs into the secondary on a daily basis. "You know, I don't think he even cares if it's a zone or a gap scheme," backup Packers QB Matt Flynn said. "He's going to find the hole. He's one of those guys that hates being on the ground." Lacy "couldn't have looked any better," according to one media source.
Fantasy Tip: That is great news for fantasy owners! Lacy, 24, has all of the makings of a stud fantasy back for years to come. Expect him to live up to his mid-RB1 draft placement in 2014.
Thu, 17 Jul 2014 05:32:47 -0700
Updating a previous report, the Green Bay Packers want to keep RB Eddie Lacy on the field for all three downs, not necessarily to touch the ball more, but to keep substitutions from slowing down the offense. He'll need to improve his pass blocking and should see an increase in targets.
Lacy is a solid RB1 that could see more value in PPR leagues than last season.
Tue, 15 Jul 2014 16:25:45 -0700
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy will try to be more involved in all aspects of the game, according to offensive coordinator Tom Clements. Clements admitted the team hasn't figured out how many carries they want Lacy to have this year.
Fantasy Tip: Perhaps this means Lacy will be more involved in the passing game this year. It's easy to speculate at this point in time, but as long as Lacy is healthy, he should be an RB1 in 2014.
Wed, 25 Jun 2014 15:31:50 -0700
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy is ready for another season of 250 or 300 carries in 2014, but the team would like to lessen the burden for Lacy in an attempt to help keep him healthy.
Fantasy Tip: Keeping Lacy healthy long term is the goal, but Green Bay will ride him when it counts. Fewer carries could me more big plays, since Aaron Rodgers forces defenders to play honestly. RBs James Starks and DuJuan Harris have lukewarm fantasy appeal; Starks is the more appropriate handcuff for Lacy owners. The second-year Alabama back remains a strong first-round pick in all formats.
Tue, 24 Jun 2014 17:59:47 -0700
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy said he is a more relaxed player heading into his second NFL season. "I'm definitely more focused but I'm also more relaxed," Lacy said. "I'm not tensed. I'm not trying to be too fast or too slow. Or if I make a mistake, I'm not killing myself over it."
Mon, 02 Jun 2014 00:21:33 -0700

Fri, 21 Feb 2014 18:08:49 -0800
Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said he would like RB Eddie Lacy to become more comfortable with playing on all three downs. "Eddie Lacy obviously had a heck of a year," McCarthy said. "He was a primary player for us, [a] play-maker. Eddie's focus is on being a three-down player. He has to play all three downs throughout the whole game."
Fantasy Tip: Lacy would gain more value if he is on the field for all three downs next season, because he could also become more involved in the passing game. Lacy could become a strong No. 1 running back if he is able to play on all downs.

Green Bay Packers RB DuJuan Harris (knee) is hopeful of being part of a 1-2 running back punch with RB Eddie Lacy next season. He entered training camp as the team's starting running back, but a right knee injury sidelined him in the offseason, recurred in the preseason and landed him on season-ending Injured Reserve. He said at midseason that there was fluid on the knee and irritation of the patellar tendon, but no structural damage after surgery in August. He expects to be ready for the offseason program and organized team activities (OTAs) in the spring.

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) is not expected to be limited by his ankle injury in the Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend. "He's a totally different back. It's night and day," WR James Jones said when comparing Lacy to earlier this season. "Way more comfortable, way more confident. They'll have to account for him. I know by them watching film and seeing what he's done during the season, they know he's not the same player he was Week 1. It's good for us to have him in the position he is now."

Fantasy Tip: Lacy has been a nice fantasy football weapon most of the year and mainly in the fantasy playoffs. Even with a bum ankle, he should have room to run against the hapless Bears run D. James Starks could get extra work, but he's a flex play, at best.

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) was in a support boot Thursday, Dec. 19, to take stress off his sprained right ankle. He is expected to return to practice Friday, Dec. 20, and play in Week 16 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. "Just being smart with him," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "I'm not concerned. He's been through all the walk-throughs. This is pretty similar to the plan we had for Eddie last week, so we'll evaluate him in the morning and see what his practice reps will be."

Fantasy Tip: Lacy probably won't be worth the risk this week, since the decision on whether he plays may not come until game time. If he doesn't go, James Starks will be the lead back and could warrant a flex play against a Dallas Cowboys defense that has been overmatched mostly all season.

Tue, 10 Dec 2013 23:42:31 -0800
If Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) cannot play this week, it is likely fourth-year veteran RB James Starks will play in Lacy's place. Starks has a career-high three touchdowns this season and is averaging a career-high 5.3 yards per carry but has never played against the Dallas Cowboys.
Fantasy Tip: Considering the Cowboys' defense averages close to 129 rushing yards per game, which is ranked 28th in the National Football League, Starks may be a good bet to pick up off the bench. As a previous post indicated, monitor Lacy's health but if you have a bench spot open pick Starks up as a handcuff.

Thu, 21 Nov 2013 10:07:47 -0800
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy hasn't found much room to run ever since QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) was injured. Opponents have loaded the box with extra defenders to gang up on Lacy with Rodgers out, and it has worked. The Packers have faced seven or more defenders in the box nearly twice as much with Rodgers out as they did in the first eight games. Green Bay has ran for just 154 yards in their last two games, both losses. The New York Giants hit Lacy at or behind the line of scrimmage on 10 of his 14 carries, and he averaged only 1.9 yards per carry.
Fantasy Tip: Lacy is still a must-start in fantasy circles, but until Rodgers returns, expect this trend to continue in earnest. Downgrade him in your weekly rankings again for Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings.
