Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said he would like RB Eddie Lacy to become more comfortable with playing on all three downs. "Eddie Lacy obviously had a heck of a year," McCarthy said. "He was a primary player for us, [a] play-maker. Eddie's focus is on being a three-down player. He has to play all three downs throughout the whole game."
Fantasy Tip: Lacy would gain more value if he is on the field for all three downs next season, because he could also become more involved in the passing game. Lacy could become a strong No. 1 running back if he is able to play on all downs.

He said at midseason that there was fluid on the knee and irritation of the patellar tendon, but no structural damage after surgery in August. He expects to be ready for the offseason program and organized team activities (OTAs) in the spring.

I know by them watching film and seeing what he's done during the season, they know he's not the same player he was Week 1. It's good for us to have him in the position he is now."

Fantasy Tip: Lacy has been a nice fantasy football weapon most of the year and mainly in the fantasy playoffs. Even with a bum ankle, he should have room to run against the hapless Bears run D. James Starks could get extra work, but he's a flex play, at best.

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 13, but is probable for Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Thu, 12 Dec 2013 13:40:54 -0800
Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is optimistic that RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) can return in Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys. Lacy will be re-evaluated Friday, Dec. 13.
Fantasy Tip: Lacy probably won't be worth the risk this week, since the decision on whether he plays may not come until game time. If he doesn't go, James Starks will be the lead back and could warrant a flex play against a Dallas Cowboys defense that has been overmatched mostly all season.

Tue, 10 Dec 2013 23:42:31 -0800
If Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) cannot play this week, it is likely fourth-year veteran RB James Starks will play in Lacy's place. Starks has a career-high three touchdowns this season and is averaging a career-high 5.3 yards per carry but has never played against the Dallas Cowboys.
Fantasy Tip: Considering the Cowboys' defense averages close to 129 rushing yards per game, which is ranked 28th in the National Football League, Starks may be a good bet to pick up off the bench. As a previous post indicated, monitor Lacy's health but if you have a bench spot open pick Starks up as a handcuff.
Mon, 09 Dec 2013 13:34:37 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (asthma) was struggling with asthma in overtime in Week 12. "It's worse in the winter time," Lacy said. "I've had it since I was little. Sometimes it's worse than others. And it's going to get worse, I think."
Sun, 24 Nov 2013 17:00:41 -0800
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy carried 25 times for 110 yards and a touchdown in the Week 12 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Fantasy Tip: Lacy now has three 100-yard games this season, with two coming in the past four games. He also has a rushing score in five of his past six games. Lacy has emerged as a low-end RB1 or must-start RB2 in all fantasy formats.
Fri, 22 Nov 2013 16:55:35 -0800
Green Bay Packers running backs coach Alex Van Pelt said Friday, Nov. 22, that ideally the team would like RB Eddie Lacy to handle the ball 20 times, with RB James Starks getting five carries and RB Johnathan Franklin handling the ball five times. It depends on the situation. If the game is on the line, Lacy "will be the one carrying the ball."
Thu, 21 Nov 2013 10:07:47 -0800
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy hasn't found much room to run ever since QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) was injured. Opponents have loaded the box with extra defenders to gang up on Lacy with Rodgers out, and it has worked. The Packers have faced seven or more defenders in the box nearly twice as much with Rodgers out as they did in the first eight games. Green Bay has ran for just 154 yards in their last two games, both losses. The New York Giants hit Lacy at or behind the line of scrimmage on 10 of his 14 carries, and he averaged only 1.9 yards per carry.
Fantasy Tip: Lacy is still a must-start in fantasy circles, but until Rodgers returns, expect this trend to continue in earnest. Downgrade him in your weekly rankings again for Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings.
Tue, 05 Nov 2013 18:07:31 -0800
Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday, Nov. 5, that RB Eddie Lacy took a step as a runner in the Week 9 game against the Chicago Bears, running even more physical than he has in the past. McCarthy still believes Lacy has more to give, and is a legitimate three-down back.
Tue, 05 Nov 2013 05:12:03 -0800
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy rushed 22 times for 150 yards and a touchdown in Week 9.
Fantasy Tip: Expect a heavy dosage of him moving forward with Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) possibly out for a period of time. If they can keep defenses honest with a legitimate passing attack, he could have some monster weeks ahead.
Sun, 03 Nov 2013 09:32:47 -0800
Green Bay Packers running backs coach Alex Van Pelt said the team would like to reduce RB Eddie Lacy's carries to around 20 carries per game. Lacy has had at least 24 touches in the last four games.
Fantasy Tip: Lacy will still be the team's top running back but may be looking to cut back on his work to make sure he is healthy later in the season. Lacy should be a No. 2 running back or flex option in most weeks moving forward.
Fri, 01 Nov 2013 19:22:21 -0700
Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Tom Clements mentioned using the running back with the "hot hand" when deciding between RBs Eddie Lacy and James Starks. "Well, you want to get them both work," Clements said Friday, Nov. 1. "You don't want to overload one or the other but if one has the hot hand then you stick with him. So it's not a set plan as to how that works, but they're both going to play. The line's going to block for both of them and we'd anticipate that they'd both be effective."
Fantasy Tip: This isn't the type of thing fantasy owners of either Lacy or Starks want to hear. One week their guy could be the top option, and another week it's possible he might see fewer touches if the other guys catches fire. It's a maddening situation, but Lacy remains a solid RB2 or flex play, while Starks is more of a low-end RB2 or flex option in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams.
Tue, 29 Oct 2013 16:13:55 -0700
The Green Bay Packers would like to limit the burden on RB Eddie Lacy by giving RB James Starks more carries. Starks had seven rushes for 57 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the Minnesota Vikings in his first game back since suffering a partially torn medial collateral ligament in his knee last month. Lacy still finished the game with a season-high 29 carries for 94 yards and a score. "Eddie was in a groove so we stayed the way we did and obviously it worked out well," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "When James got his opportunity, I thought he jumped in there and made an impact. He was running hard, downhill, not wasting any steps. He had good reads. That's why the attempts and things like that, you look at it week to week. I would have liked to have James Starks get a few more carries."
Fantasy Tip: Starks is now worth adding off the waiver wire for running back depth or as a handcuff to Lacy. The Packers are a different team these days after losing both Randall Cobb and Jermichael Finley. Look for them to run the ball more than ever, making Lacy a must-start and Starks an option in deep leagues.
Tue, 15 Oct 2013 20:04:30 -0700
The Green Bay Packers ranked fifth in rushing yards per game (140.8), and with several wide receivers banged up, there might be more of a focus on the run game going forward. "I just think there's some growth there," head coach Mike McCarthy said Tuesday, Oct. 15. "You could see it when we got together in the spring. It was exciting once we got in pads in training camp." The Packers threw the ball 122 times in the first three games, going 1-2. In the past two games, they ran 63 times to just 62 pass attempts, winning both games. RB Eddie Lacy has run for 219 yards over the past two weeks, and RBs James Starks and Johnathan Franklin have each hit the century mark once this season.
Fantasy Tip: Lacy is the one to watch for fantasy purposes heading into the new week. He was able to shred the Baltimore Ravens for 120 rushing yards last week, averaging 5.2 yards per carry, and has emerged as a must-start RB2 or flex play in all formats. The Week 7 opponent, the Cleveland Browns, have allowed just 98.2 yards per game. However, they have given up eight rushing touchdowns, which is most in the NFL.
Sun, 06 Oct 2013 17:11:27 -0700
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy finished with 99 rushing yards on 23 carries in the Week 5 game against the Detroit Lions.
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners know, and some just missed that bonus for a 100-yard rusher. Still, it was a solid day for the rookie, who continues to improve. He is a solid low-end RB2 or flex option in most formats, and a must-have in long-term dynasty leagues.
Fri, 04 Oct 2013 14:25:55 -0700
Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 4, and is listed as probable for Week 5.

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 3.
