Packers | Eddie Lacy still rather heavy

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 22:57:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy was a bit slimmer on the first day of training camp Tuesday, July 26, then he was for organized team activities (OTAs). He went back to P90X trainer Tony Horton for a second time this offseason, getting down to an estimated 240 pounds according to beat writer Pete Dougherty.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy was a huge disappointment in 2015, as his conditioning was called into question, and many likely will have a sour taste in their mouth as a result. He has first-round fantasy ability, but the fact he is working on his weight again is not a great sign. When he is healthy and in tip-top shape, he is a great fantasy option, especially in leagues which reward points per reception (PPR). However, make sure to have plenty of depth at the position.

Packers | Eddie Lacy must impact passing game

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 22:31:32 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy will be pushed into the passing game, according to running backs coach Ben Sirmans, but Sirmans said Lacy will have to beat man coverage. Last year, RB James Starks played 68 more snaps than Lacy and caught 27 more passes.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy's inability to stay in shape has opened the door for Starks to take on a bigger role. Both backs are RB3 candidates, but Starks is the better bet in PPR formats.

Packers | Eddie Lacy back working out

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 16:35:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy has reunited with trainer Tony Horton, the P90X founder, this summer. Lacy spent two months with Horton earlier this year after Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said Lacy "cannot play at the weight he was at (last) year." Lacy was 15 to 18 pounds lighter in April. "Eddie will be fine," McCarthy said in May. "I believe he'll hit the target that we're all looking for when the lights come on."

Fantasy Tip: Lacy clearly means business and isn't going to let himself slip back into bad habits from last year. He should be in good shape for training camp at the end of the month and should yet again be Green Bay's main back. He's a risk-reward back in the middle rounds as a low-end RB1 or high-end RB2.

Packers | Eddie Lacy continues to get in shape

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 19:47:11 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy worked out with P90X founder Tony Horton after the season, and Horton estimated Lacy lost 15 to 20 pounds during the workouts. Running backs coach Ben Sirmans said this week that Lacy might again work with Horton leading up to training camp. "I'm hopeful," Sirmans said. "The information I got from what people have told me, it's helped him. So you always want to be able to do things that help people. I hope he'll do it." After offseason workouts, head coach Mike McCarthy said Lacy still had work to do.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy's fitness and weight was an issue last season, and while he has made strides he still has work to do. He was a giant disappointment for fantasy owners last season, and while he showed glimpses of brilliance, overall his numbers were not even close to early-round fantasy production. This season he could be a steal in the range of Rounds 3 through 6, especially if he whips himself into shape and produces to his capabilities.

Packers | Eddie Lacy still has weight issue?

Wed, 25 May 2016 11:10:14 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy still weighs "in the 240s," according to a source. Lacy did P90X workouts in the offseason and turned to basketball and boxing, too. It was reported back in April that Lacy had already lost 15 to 18 pounds. Head coach Mike McCarthy characterized Lacy's condition as "so far, so good." "Eddie will be fine," McCarthy said. "I believe he'll hit the target that we're all looking for when the lights come on."

Fantasy Tip: Expectations are down for Lacy after he disappointed owners in 2015. With better conditioning and stamina coming into 2016, he could be an excellent value at running back as a high-end RB2 in fantasy drafts.

Packers | Eddie Lacy impresses teammates

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 13:22:12 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy impressed teammates with his physical transformation on the first day of the offseason program Monday, April 19. QB Aaron Rodgers, WR Jordy Nelson and DL Mike Daniels all said Lacy looked good. Lacy is in better shape heading into the 2016 season after his well-documented P90X workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy is coming off one of the more disappointing campaigns from any player in 2015. If the Packers' key players can stay healthy and if Lacy can stay in shape, he could be due for a nice bounce-back season. Lacy is worth drafting as a low-end RB1.

Packers | Eddie Lacy ready to prove himself

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 11:44:58 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy has worked his way into better shape this offseason, and the people around Lacy believe the Packers are going to be happy with what they see when Lacy reports to the offseason program, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.

Breer said Lacy has redistributed weight from his midsection to his shoulders and arms. Lacy has slimmed down over the last two months in large part because of P90X workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy is probably one of the bigger stories heading into offseason activities. He disappointed last season after a solid 2014 campaign. If he can be a lean, mean, running machine and stay healthy in 2016, he could very well end up in RB1 territory by season's end.

Packers | Eddie Lacy staying fit

Thu, 24 Mar 2016 13:12:36 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy looks to be staying fit with his PX90 workouts this offseason. Lacy and one of his fans recently took a picture together. The fan said Lacy looked fit and like he has lost a lot of weight. The fan also said that he is 5-9, 185 pounds and that Lacy is much thinner than him.

Fantasy Tip: If Lacy can maintain the work ethic he's shown this offseason, he could find himself once again in the warm graces of head coach Mike McCarthy. Better conditioning may also translate into more playing time for Lacy, but James Starks will have his share of touches, too, eating into Lacy's fantasy value. If Lacy can stay in good shape and in good health, he'll be in the low-end RB1 to high-end RB2 conversation.

Packers | Eddie Lacy keeps progressing

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 15:29:29 -0700

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy has continued his PX90 workout program and the reports back to head coach Mike McCarthy have been good so far. McCarthy said he hasn't met with Lacy since the end of the season, but new running backs coach Ben Sirmans has been keeping in regular contact with Lacy while updating McCarthy.

Lacy was criticized by McCarthy after the regular season for not being in good shape, but McCarthy said Lacy is looking good now and that there will be a new Lacy when players return in mid-April if he can stay the course.

Fantasy Tip: Lacy seems to be taking his physique seriously now. If he can maintain his work ethic and if that translates onto the gridiron, we could see the RB1 we expected when he was drafted three years ago. That being said, James Starks will still cut into Lacy's playing time, which stunts his fantasy ceiling. The offseason progress from Lacy is still promising enough to take a chance on him as an RB2.

Packers | Eddie Lacy looks slimmer

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 16:19:53 -0800

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy seems to have trimmed down this offseason after taking up an offer from P90X creator Tony Horton. Lacy took some heat from head coach Mike McCarthy following the regular season for not being in shape.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Lacy has taken McCarthy's critique to heart after a disappointing 2015 campaign. It's unclear how much weight Lacy has lost, but he does look to be in better shape than last season. Lacy will look to keep fellow RB James Starks on the bench for as long as possible in 2016, as Starks cut into plenty of Lacy's running back shares last season. Don't put Lacy back into RB1 territory just yet, but he could be well on his way if he maintains his dedication and stays healthy.
