Eagles | Zach Ertz could play Week 1

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 17:07:15 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (groin) has not been ruled out for Week 1 at this point, according to offense coordinator Pat Shurmur.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz underwent surgery a few weeks ago, so owners should continue to monitor his progress to see if he will be ready for the owner. Ertz could be low-end No. 1 tight end or a No. 2 tight end in most leagues.

Eagles | Zach Ertz has surgery

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 11:48:42 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (groin) underwent surgery on his injured groin Friday, Aug. 14, and he will miss the entire preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Even though Ertz will miss all of the practice games, he should be ready for Week 1 action. Without valuable repetitions in training camp and the preseason, though, Ertz could be slow out of the gates and lose snaps to Brent Celek. In this high-octane offense, though, Ertz could still be a starting tight end for fantasy owners, although he's more of a low-end TE1 now.

Eagles | Zach Ertz has groin strain

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 10:38:01 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (groin) is dealing with a strained groin and not a sports hernia, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz is intriguing because of the offense he plays in, but Brent Celek is still in the picture, and Ert'z injury could hurt his production, at least early in the season. Because he may not miss any regular season action, Ertz is still in low-end TE1 territory.

Eagles | Zach Ertz out for preseason

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 09:11:15 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (abdomen) will not play in the preseason due to a core muscle injury, but head coach Chip Kelly said Ertz should be ready for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz was a midrange TE1 that will have peaks and valleys. Not having a preseason could affect him, and he falls down the muddy mid-to-low TE1 pecking order.

Eagles | Zach Ertz not practicing

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 09:55:47 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (undisclosed) is not participating in practice Thursday, Aug. 13.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known if Ertz is injured, but he has been banged up over the last few days. Ertz may not start this season but should receive a good amount of targets. He could be a No. 2 tight end in deeper leagues.

Eagles | Zach Ertz an improved blocker

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 08:34:01 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz improved his blocking this offseason, according to offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. "I think Zach Ertz is a more efficient blocker," Shurmur said. "We've seen the improvements that he's worked on in the offseason."

Fantasy Tip: Better blocking will keep Ertz on the field more often because that was a knock against him. Ertz is a midrange TE1 with some upside in the offense.

Eagles | Zach Ertz returns to practice

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 08:45:19 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (undisclosed) will participate in practice Saturday, Aug. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz missed practice Friday, Aug. 7, but will be able to return to the field. Ertz should see plenty of playing time this season and will have a solid role in the passing game. He could be a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Eagles | Zach Ertz misses practice

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 15:31:40 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Friday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known how serious Ertz's injury is, so owners should look for an update on his status in the near future. Ertz should see solid playing time even if he does not start but probably is more of a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Eagles | Zach Ertz practicing with backups

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 13:25:59 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has been practicing with the second team during training camp with TE Brent Celek practicing with the first team.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz is still the tight end to own in your fantasy leagues despite him technically being the backup so far. Celek only gained 340 yards and scored once in 16 games last year. Ertz totaled 702 yards and three touchdowns. Ertz has low-end TE1 upside this season.

Eagles | Zach Ertz impresses Tuesday

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 06:52:39 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz had several standout moments in practice Tuesday, Aug. 4. QB Mark Sanchez threw a pass slightly behind Ertz on a seam route, but Ertz went up for the ball over a defender and came down with it. During another series, Ertz caught all three passes from Sanchez. Ertz continues to work with the second-team offense.

Fantasy Tip: Ironically, Ertz stood out while Brent Celek had the dropsies and had to participate in a JUGS session after practice. Ertz is inconsistent, but he's amongst the cluttered cast of midrange TE1's after the elite tiers are gone.
