Redskins | Jordan Reed held in check in return

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 19:15:52 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed finished with four catches for 37 yards in a 26-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has yet to reach 50 receiving yards in a game this season, and Kirk Cousins continues to spread the ball around to several targets. Continue to start Reed when he is healthy, but high-end TE1 production may be too much to expect.

Redskins | Jordan Reed not 100 percent

Thu, 12 Oct 2017 12:54:07 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib, sternum) said he is not completely healthy but will be able to play against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Reed was held to three passes and 21 yards last week and may continue to be limited by his injuries. He is not on the injury report for Week 6 and can still be a fantasy option, but owners should not expect a big game from Reed.

Redskins | Jordan Reed posts dud on Monday night

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 21:32:35 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed had his most disappointing game of the young season Monday, Oct. 2, opposite the Kansas City Chiefs, registering only three catches on five targets for 21 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Uh oh. Those who owned Reed last year might remember he had some games where he played injured and ended up contributing absolutely zilch. This Monday Night Football contest served as a harsh reminder of that, as Reed was playing through chest and rib issues in this one, en route to providing his owners virtually nothing. Thus, it's mandatory to monitor his health over the upcoming week, and if he's still playing hurt in Week 5, it might be wise to bench him despite his status as an elite TE1.

Redskins | Jordan Reed active

Mon, 02 Oct 2017 16:15:39 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib, sternum) is officially active for the team's Week 4 game.

Fantasy Tip: Reed returns to the starting lineup after missing last week, but it is not known if he will be limited by the injury. He will be a risky option for owners but can still be a starting option if owners have him.

Redskins | Jordan Reed confident about status

Sat, 30 Sep 2017 14:15:04 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib, sternum) said he believes he will be able to play in Week 4. Head coach Jay Gruden said Reed's availability will be determined by his pain tolerance.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is a risky option for owners this week because of the injury and that he is playing on Monday Night Football, which limits tight end options if Reed sits out. Owners can consider benching Reed this week if they have other options available.

Sat, 30 Sep 2017 11:10:06 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib, sternum) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 30, and is listed as questionable for Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Reed missed the last game because of an injury and probably will be a game-time decision against the Kansas City Chiefs. Reed does not play until Monday Night Football, so owners can consider using healthier options and keep Reed on the bench this week.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib, chest) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Reed did not play last week because of the injuries and his status for Week 4 is uncertain at this point. He is one of the better tight ends in the NFL when he is healthy but is a risky option this week. Owners may want to consider other options for their starting lineup since Reed is playing on Monday Night Football and there would be limited options if he misses the game.

Redskins | Jordan Reed day-to-day

Mon, 25 Sep 2017 12:49:21 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ribs, chest) is considered day-to-day and is expected to be limited in practice this week, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: It's always a concern when Reed is injured considering his extensive history with the injury bug. His ailments don't appear to be too serious, but pick up Vernon Davis if you can fit him on your roster in case Reed is forced to miss more time.

Redskins | Jordan Reed limited, likely GTD

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 13:49:05 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ribs, chest) was a limited participant in practice Friday, Sept. 22, and is considered questionable for Week 3 against the Oakland Raiders. He said while he has a full range of motion in his shoulder, he expects to be a game-time decision.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has so much talent, and is a must-start fantasy option when healthy. Unfortunately, those times are few and far between, as he always seems to be dealing with a nagging injury to keep him from being 100 percent.

Redskins | Jordan Reed practices again Friday

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 10:22:51 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (chest, toe, shoulder) participated in practice for the second straight day Friday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has more injuries through two weeks than he usually does, but two straight days of practice after sitting out Wednesday is a good sign for his Week 3 availability. While the Redskins' Sunday night game on Week 3 doesn't help owners worried about a surprise inactive, the matchup against the Oakland Raiders is too good to not take the chance. Owners they want to add Vernon Davis just in case to protect themselves.

Redskins | Jordan Reed puts in limited practice

Thu, 21 Sep 2017 12:45:43 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ribs, sternum) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Sept. 21. Head coach Jay Gruden said Reed's pain is becoming manageable.

Fantasy Tip: This is undeniably good news for Reed, but he's still a question mark for Week 3. As with any injured player heading into a game, how limited and how involved will he be? It will be difficult to bench him if he's active in what is expected to be a shootout with the Oakland Raiders.

Redskins | Jordan Reed sits out Wednesday

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 15:09:27 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (rib, sternum) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Reed's status is uncertain at this point, so owners will need to check on his status later in the week. He has dealt with injuries in the past which makes him a risky fantasy option. Owners will need to have a backup plan in case Reed is not able to play in Week 3.

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 12:34:47 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (chest) is considered day-to-day with a chest contusion, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Here we go again. Reed is dealing with an ailment. Surprise, surprise. Vernon Davis will fill in for Reed if Reed can't play this weekend. Jamison Crowder, Terrelle Pryor and Chris Thompson would be the main beneficiaries though.

Mon, 18 Sep 2017 09:03:23 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (chest) suffered a sternoclavicular joint sprain in Week 2 Sunday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Reed returned to action, and it's going to be a pain-tolerance issue, which hasn't been his strong suit in recent years. Stay tuned for further testing today, but he's a risky play in Week 3 against the Oakland Raiders.

Sat, 16 Sep 2017 08:18:54 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) missed most of training camp while recovering from a sprained toe that he said also had been fractured, and he also sat out most of the voluntary workouts in the spring, leading him to being a bit "rusty" in Week 1 and rushing some of his routes.

Redskins | Jordan Reed active for Week 1

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 09:24:59 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) is active for Week 1's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: According to multiple sources, Reed has been dealing with a fractured big toe recently but the Redskins obviously felt he was healthy enough to suit up for the season opener and contribute. View him as a high-risk, high-reward option in daily leagues and start him without any reservations in seasonal formats.

Redskins | Jordan Reed expected to play Sunday

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 06:22:04 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) has reportedly been battling a fractured big toe but is expected to play in Week 1's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Reed's injury forced him to adjust the way he runs and had caused other issues in his foot but the team still believes he can perform at a high level. Daily fantasy owners should look for safer options but seasonal owners should roll the dice with Reed, who is one of the league's best tight ends.

Redskins | Jordan Reed makes two catches in return

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 17:45:05 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) made his preseason debut Sunday, Aug. 27, finishing with two catches on four targets for 12 yards in a 23-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: In terms of upside, Reed ranks right behind Rob Gronkowski at the tight end position. However, he is as injury prone as any player in the league, making him a high-risk, high-reward option to target somewhere around the fifth round.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to be game-time decision Sunday

Fri, 25 Aug 2017 11:07:15 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) has looked good in practice according to head coach Jay Gruden, but he will remain a game-time decision versus the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Aug, 27.

Fantasy Tip: Owners only care about Reed looking "good" at this point and would probably just as soon have Reed not play in either of the final two preseason games. When healthy, he is perhaps Rob Gronkowski's only rival among fantasy tight ends - at least in PPR leagues. Of course, durability has been a problem, making him something of a risk-reward choice in the fifth round of most fantasy drafts.

Redskins | Jordan Reed confident in toe

Thu, 24 Aug 2017 14:30:24 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) doesn't believe his toe injury is a serious issue, adding that he doesn't feel any pain now thanks to a wider cleat and orthotics. The oft-injured tight end would like to play some this weekend, but head coach Jay Gruden admitted that Reed is one of those players who can easily get back into the swing of things.

Fantasy Tip: Reed's injury history is long enough to write a book from. His talent level is elite, though, and he may be targeted even more this season with the departures of DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon. Draft him as a top-tier tight end if you're willing to take the risk.

Redskins | Jordan Reed participates in practice

Wed, 23 Aug 2017 11:05:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed practiced for the first time this summer Wednesday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: It's far from an ideal scenario, but a healthy Reed at any point of the preseason is better than the alternative. He could see limited snaps this week and perhaps the final week of the preseason, but as of now it appears as if owners will have a healthy Reed in fantasy lineups for the season opener. Reed is unquestionably a top-five fantasy tight end when he is 100 percent.

Redskins | Jordan Reed activated

Sun, 20 Aug 2017 14:12:17 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Sunday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has missed the entire training camp because of his toe injury but should be on the field this week. Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Reed suffers any setbacks. Reed is a No. 1 fantasy tight end in all leagues but comes with some risk because of his injury history.

Redskins | Jordan Reed back at practice soon?

Thu, 17 Aug 2017 13:33:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) said he's hoping to return to practice either Monday, Aug. 21, or Tuesday, Aug. 22. Reed added that the orthotics he's been wearing have helped his toe injury.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is one of the more frustrating players in fantasy football. He's a top-tier tight end when healthy, but he's as fragile as china too. If he's at full health entering the season, he's worthy of being drafted as a high-end TE1 with more value in PPR leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed had a fracture

Mon, 14 Aug 2017 07:39:00 -0700

Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) disclosed that he had a fracture in his toe Sunday, Aug. 13. "It's the cleats more than anything," Reed said. "The cleats prior to this were more narrow and pressing on the bone that I had the fracture in. These cleats are wider and the orthotics are softer so I don't feel it."

Fantasy Tip: Reed is expected back before the start of the season. He's a legit TE1 in fantasy, but his propensity for injuries require a high-upside backup behind him.

Redskins | Jordan Reed expects to return soon

Sun, 13 Aug 2017 15:55:12 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) said his new cleats and orthotics have made a difference with his sprained big toe. He is still on the Physically Unable to Perform list but expects to start practicing soon.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation to see when Reed will be able to return to practice. Reed is one of the better fantasy tight ends but continues to be a risky option because of his injury history. He can be a No. 1 tight end for owners this season but they should have a strong backup in case he misses time.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to be reevaluated soon

Sat, 12 Aug 2017 13:07:20 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) will be reevaluated after the preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has not participated in practice since the start of training camp because of his toe injury, so owners will know more about his status after the evaluation. He is one of the better fantasy tight ends when healthy but he has struggled with injuries during his career. Reed should be considered a No. 1 tight end in all leagues if he is healthy for Week 1.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to try out new footwear

Sat, 12 Aug 2017 10:55:42 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) received special orthotics for his left cleat and will test it out for the next couple days, according to head coach Jay Gruden, who added the team will take a look at how Reed is doing after the team's next preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: If Reed could ever stay healthy for a full season, he could easily make a claim to be one of the top three tight ends in the game. As it stands right now, Reed is expected to be ready for Week 1, but he is a poor bet to stay healthy all season, making him a risky pick before the end of the fifth round.

Redskins | Jordan Reed should be ready

Sat, 05 Aug 2017 19:58:58 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) is expected to be ready for Week 1, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed's injury history is tough to ignore, but so is his production when he is healthy. Grab him as a TE1 and cross your fingers he plays most of the year.

Redskins | Jordan Reed dealing with side effects

Thu, 03 Aug 2017 19:05:23 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) said Thursday, Aug. 3, that his current absence is related to a stem-cell treatment used to address a toe injury that has been bothering him since the end of last season.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has as much upside as any tight end not named Rob Gronkowski, but he is a strong gust of wind away from his next injury. Despite the risk, Reed is worth grabbing as a top-five option at his position.

Redskins | Jordan Reed's injury not serious

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 14:10:05 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) does not have a serious toe injury, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Reed recently visited a toe specialist.

Fantasy Tip: The injury might not be serious, but Reed's injury history is well documented. As has been stated, he's the prototypical high-risk, high-reward player. Drafting Reed as a top-three tight end, especially in PPR leagues, is logical, but tread carefully.

Redskins | Jordan Reed visiting specialist

Tue, 01 Aug 2017 12:13:12 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) is seeing a specialist about his toe injury, according to head coach Jay Gruden. There is no timetable yet for his return.

Fantasy Tip: Reed and injuries go together like water and wetness. We don't know if he'll miss actual regular season games yet, but this is a good reminder of the tight end's fragility. Reed is a high-risk, high-reward player who can finish as a top tight end, but his asking price (third round) may be too high considering the injury history.

Redskins | Twisted ankle for Jordan Reed?

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 13:39:23 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe, ankle) may have twisted his ankle overcompensating for his toe ailment, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed isn't expected to miss much time, but Washington doesn't want to risk any setbacks with Reed either. He has a substantial injury history and needs to be ready when the games count. If there aren't any setbacks, Reed remains a top three- to-five fantasy consideration at tight end.

Redskins | Jordan Reed's toe not a big issue

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 09:05:21 -0700

Updating previous reports, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed's (toe) injury isn't a big concern to the team, and he's expected to return during the preseason.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (toe) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list because of significant toe soreness, according to a team spokesperson. He will be evaluated further before he is cleared to practice because the team wants to avoid any possible long-term injury.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see how long Reed will be sidelined because of this toe injury. Reed is a bit of a risky option for owners because of his injury history but is a No. 1 fantasy tight end when he is healthy.

Wed, 26 Jul 2017 14:44:14 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (undisclosed) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, July 26.

Fantasy Tip: Reed can return to practice at any point during training camp, so owners should monitor the situation. He has dealt with injuries during his career but has been a very successful play when he is healthy. He has recorded 17 touchdowns in the last two seasons and should be considered a solid No. 1 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Sun, 04 Jun 2017 20:34:34 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed's 17 touchdowns since the start of the 2015 season are the second-most in the NFL among tight ends.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries are a constant concern with Reed, but when healthy, he has as much upside as any player at his position. He should be one of the first tight ends off the board.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed will be the focal point of the offense in 2017, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is one of the top fantasy tight ends when he is on the field, but injuries are a perennial concern. He is a high-risk, high-reward TE1.

Redskins | Jordan Reed endorses Kirk Cousins

Sat, 18 Feb 2017 19:16:47 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed said bringing back impending free-agent QB Kirk Cousins should be a top priority this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is one of the best fantasy tight ends in the game when he isn't dealing with injuries. If Cousins is back under center in Washington in 2017, Reed should remain a TE1 in all formats.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to skip Pro Bowl

Sat, 21 Jan 2017 07:09:39 -0800

The Washington Redskins have announced that TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) will not play in the Pro Bowl Jan. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The 26-year-old Reed caught 66 passes for 686 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games during the 2016 campaign, although his production tailed off dramatically over the final month due to injury. He will be completely healthy by the start of training camp and should be viewed as a high-end TE1 option in all fantasy formats entering next season.

Redskins | Jordan Reed likely to play

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 07:29:56 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 17's game against the New York Giants. He was limited in practice throughout the week and was listed as questionable on the injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners should expect Reed to be active because Washington still has an opportunity to make the playoffs. However, he has only caught two passes since Thanksgiving and makes a very risky TE1 option for Week 17, especially since the possibility looms that he could see limited snaps. Reed's presence also means that the fantasy value of Vernon Davis will be negatively impacted.

Redskins | Jordan Reed limited in practice again

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 13:59:54 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice for the third consecutive day Friday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: As reported earlier, he's questionable to play in Sunday's season finale, though it appears he's more likely than not to suit up, considering Washington is still vying for a postseason berth. Reed has looked a lot less effective when trying to play through injury over the past few weeks, but head coach Jay Gruden did say this week that he looked "great." Either way, he'll be a risky play in Week 17, and his presence should also downgrade Vernon Davis.

Redskins | Jordan Reed listed as questionable

Fri, 30 Dec 2016 11:53:03 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was listed on as questionable on the Week 17 injury report despite looking "great" in practice this week, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Given the importance of the game for Washington against the New York Giants this weekend, owners can expect Reed to go. However, that doesn't make him a great option in his current state.
