Redskins | Jordan Reed expects to play

Thu, 08 Dec 2016 13:22:57 -0800

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) said he feels that he has all of his range of motion back and believes he'll play in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: This is somewhat of a surprise considering Reed's injury history and the fact that he didn't play last week. Vernon Davis should be benched with Reed expecting to play, while Reed makes his way into high-end TE1 territory against a reeling Philadelphia Eagles defense.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Reed's status is uncertain at this point, so owners will need to check on his status later in the week to see if he has a chance to play in Week 14. Reed is one of the top tight end when he is healthy but will be a risky option for owners if he plays.

Redskins | Jordan Reed will not play Week 13

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 11:19:55 -0800

Updating a previous story, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals in order to continue receiving treatment on his ailing shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Reed should be considered week-to-week at this point. Vernon Davis will get the start and will be a viable TE1 during his absence given all of the injuries at the position across the league. This week, however, Davis faces one of the stingiest defenses against tight ends, so owners should consider other options if at all possible.

Redskins | Jordan Reed sits out practice Friday

Fri, 02 Dec 2016 10:17:53 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: We noted yesterday Reed was unlikely to play Week 13 and this does nothing to change that. He should be considered week-to-week at this point, and there is a strong likelihood he won't resemble the dominant player he has been this season until 2017. Vernon Davis will fill in this week (if not beyond) and should considered a low-end TE1 during his absence.

Redskins | Jordan Reed likely will miss Week 13

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 10:17:10 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is not expected to play in Week 13 because of his shoulder injury, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should check the inactive list to make sure of Reed's status but will need to have other options available if he is ruled out. Vernon Davis would receive most of the work at tight end if Reed sits out and can be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed still having issues

Thu, 01 Dec 2016 05:45:07 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) said the Grade 3 separation of the AC joint in his left shoulder continues to cause a lot of pain, and he only has 30 percent range of motion. The team is taking a wait-and-see approach on his status for Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to see him playing and being a factor if it's that serious of an issue. Vernon Davis had five catches for 68 yards last week and would be a low-end TE1 to consider if Reed is out against the Arizona Cardinals.

Redskins | Jordan Reed still sidelined

Wed, 30 Nov 2016 11:31:10 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has not been ruled out at this point, but he probably will not play if he misses all three days of practice. Owners will need other options ready in case Reed is ruled out. Vernon Davis would receive a bigger role in the passing game and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues if Reed sits.

Redskins | Jordan Reed not at practice Monday

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 09:56:08 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was absent from practice Monday, Nov. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Reed should be considered extremely questionable at best for Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals after suffering a Grade 3 AC joint separation Thanksgiving against the Dallas Cowboys. Owners should have other options in mind for him this week and beyond, so tight-end needy owners should feel free to add Vernon Davis while awaiting more updates on Reed. Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder figure to benefit the most in fantasy should Reed not be able to play.

Redskins | Jordan Reed has serious shoulder injury

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 12:00:43 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) was diagnosed with a Grade 3 AC joint separation in his left shoulder after undergoing an MRI on Friday, Nov. 25. Reed may able to play in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals, depending on his range of motion and pain tolerance.

Fantasy Tip: A Grade 3 AC joint separation is a complete separation of the joint in which both sets of ligaments are torn as well as the capsule that surrounds the joint. Reed's play certainly did not appear to be affected much Thursday, as he accumulated most of his 10 catches and both of his touchdowns after suffering the injury. Nevertheless, owners need to find room for Vernon Davis on their rosters as Reed could be hard-pressed to make it through a full game going forward.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) played with a separated shoulder in a 31-26 loss to the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, Nov. 24, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Reed finished with 10 catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

Thu, 24 Nov 2016 15:57:19 -0800

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) returned to the game against the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, Nov. 24, even scoring a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: It looked worse than it turned out to be, especially considering Reed's injury history. The hope now is that Reed doesn't aggravate the injury. Hold off on the Vernon Davis hype for now.

Redskins | Jordan Reed exits early

Thu, 24 Nov 2016 15:01:52 -0800

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) left early Thursday, Nov. 24, against the Dallas Cowboys and was wearing a sling on his left arm.

Fantasy Tip: There was speculation that Reed could have broken his collarbone, but that remains to be seen. Reed broke his collarbone last year, so this injury should be concerning. Vernon Davis should be added immediately if Reed misses time.

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 12:34:10 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed caught nine passes for 99 yards and one touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Reed returned from a concussion and was one of the team's top receivers during the game. He is one of the best tight ends in fantasy football and should be a starting option every week as long as he is healthy.

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 06:21:29 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is active for Week 8's game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 17:12:09 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Reed likely will play if he receives clearance from a doctor, so owners should monitor the situation this weekend. Reed is a solid option in the passing game when healthy and would be a No. 1 tight end.

Redskins | Jordan Reed questionable

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 08:51:12 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is listed as questionable for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has a 33-316-2 line in five games thus far. He has the ability to be one of the best tight ends in fantasy, but injuries continue to be an issue. He's expected to play, and he's practicing Friday, which makes him a midrange TE1 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) has been cleared to travel to London for the team's Week 8 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: Reed's status for the game is still uncertain, but it is a good sign that he can travel with the team. Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation over the next few days to see if he is cleared to play. Reed is a starting tight end in fantasy leagues when he is healthy, but owners will need a backup plan ready in case Reed is ruled out.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will know more about Reed's status Thursday, Oct. 27, since that is when the team will be traveling to London. He will be a risky option if he is cleared to play but can still be a No. 1 tight end.

Redskins | Jordan Reed can resume practicing

Mon, 24 Oct 2016 12:46:52 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) has been cleared to return to practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, after missing the last two weeks due to a concussion. Reed still must be cleared by an independent neurologist, however, before he can play in Week 8 in London against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Fantasy Tip: Vernon Davis has been productive in his absence, but Reed is far and away Kirk Cousins' favorite target and the Washington offense has suffered as a result of not having him available. With six documented concussions since college, he's as risky as they come from an injury standpoint. He's an elite TE1 when he plays, but owners need to have a fallback plan in place with a player who has his injury history.

Redskins | Jordan Reed expected to miss more time

Sun, 23 Oct 2016 09:27:39 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is not expected to play in the team's Week 8 game. He probably will be able to return after the Week 9 bye.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has had concussions in the past, so the team are taking things slow with him. Vernon Davis will start in Week 7 and likely will start again next week. Davis could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in deeper leagues and can also be a bye-week replacement.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Vernon Davis probably will be the starting tight end for the Redskins and is coming off a game where he recorded 50 yards and one touchdown. Owners probably can find better options to use and can avoid Davis.

Redskins | Jordan Reed ruled out vs. Lions

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 11:23:10 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) has been ruled out of the team's Week 7 game Sunday, Oct. 23, against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: At one point this week, it looked like Reed would be able to return from his concussion after getting in a limited practice on Wednesday, but unfortunately, he's going to remain sidelined. As a result, veteran Vernon Davis gets a boost in being able to make his second consecutive start at tight end. In Reed's first missed contest last week, Davis hauled in two catches on four targets for 50 yards and a touchdown. He's a risky TE1 play.

Redskins | Jordan Reed misses Friday practice

Fri, 21 Oct 2016 10:17:37 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) did not practice for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: While it is possible Reed will be able to clear the concussion protocol this weekend, owners should prepare to be without him. Assuming he is ruled out as expected, Vernon Davis would make for a high-upside streamer play against a Detroit Lions' defense that has given up a league-high seven touchdowns to the tight end position.

Redskins | Jordan Reed ruled out

Sat, 15 Oct 2016 14:31:47 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) has been ruled out for the team's Week 6 game.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known when Reed will be able to return, so owners will need to keep an eye on the situation. Vernon Davis and Niles Paul will receive playing time at tight end in Week 6, but neither player is a strong fantasy option. DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder could see a small boost in their value since they can see more targets.

Updating a previous report, Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 14. He is listed as questionable for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has a few days to be cleared to play, but the Redskins may take things slow with him since he has had concussions in the past. Owners should expect him to miss the game and find another option for their lineups.

Redskins | Jordan Reed questionable for Week 6

Fri, 14 Oct 2016 12:39:47 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) has been ruled questionable for Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: Even if Reed is somehow cleared, head coach Jay Gruden will still have some explaining to do if Reed suits up this week after he entered the league's concussion protocol Thursday. Common sense would seem to suggest a player with at least six documented concussions probably shouldn't be playing a week after suffering his most recent one. Expect reason to win out here and look for the Redskins to give him at least a week off. Vernon Davis and Niles Paul will fill in.

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) has been diagnosed with a concussion and is going through the concussion protocol, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Gruden said Reed has not been ruled out for Week 6 at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Reed may not be able to play in Week 6 if he is diagnosed with a concussion, so owners will need to check in his status in the next day or two. Owners will need other options ready in case Reed is ruled out. Vernon Davis likely would start at tight end at tight end if Reed remains sidelined but is not a strong fantasy option.

Redskins | Jordan Reed in concussion protocol

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 21:13:12 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is in the league-mandated concussion protocol, head coach Jay Gruden confirmed Wednesday, Oct. 12. If he is diagnosed with a concussion, it would be his fifth, at a minimum, dating back to his college career. There is no timetable for his return, casting doubt on his availability for Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: If Reed is unavailable, it would likely mean more targets for DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder. Vernon Davis might also see a larger role if Reed is inactive or limited.

Wed, 12 Oct 2016 12:40:37 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed caught eight passes for 53 yards against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5.

Redskins | Two TDs for Jordan Reed

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 15:04:05 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed caught nine passes for 73 yards and scored twice in a 31-20 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Reed became the fastest tight end in NFL history to 200 career receptions, in his 38th game. He is a solid TE1 in most leagues given his ability to catch passes, especially for touchdowns.

Redskins | Jordan Reed hauls in seven balls

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 21:05:38 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed was targeted a team-high 11 times in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, posting seven receptions for 64 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Reed was the consolation price in fantasy football for owners missing out on Rob Gronkowski, and fantasy owners are expecting big things going forward. He should excel in Week 2 against a Dallas Cowboys pass defense that allowed a touchdown to the tight end in Week 1.

Redskins | Jordan Reed will sit Thursday

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 14:30:03 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (thumb) will not be active Thursday, Aug. 11, against the Atlanta Falcons, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

Fantasy Tip: The injury doesn't sound serious, but it's concerning every time Reed is dealing with something considering his injury history. He's still arguably the most reliable target the Redskins have and will continue to be that safety blanket for Kirk Cousins. He should be one of the first three tight ends drafted and has more value in PPR formats.

Redskins | Jordan Reed has looked good

Thu, 16 Jun 2016 11:24:04 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ankle) missed three days of practice this week but looked very good when he was in camp, and the coaches' confidence in him has increased. Reed will work out on his own before reporting to training camp next month, and his work ethic has been an underrated part of his game. Reed has improved on getting free on certain routes.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is one of the top receiving options for Kirk Cousins in this offense and is a top-tier TE1. However, injuries have been a big part of his past and remain a concern, so make sure you have a very capable backup if you roll the dice on Reed as your starter.

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 22:45:22 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ankle) did not practice again Wednesday, June 15, as he deals with a sprained ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Reed is a Top 10 fantasy option at his position when healthy, but he has had a propensity for injury which makes him a bit of a risk. He is even better in leagues which reward points per receptions (PPR), but make sure to have depth on hand due to his injury history.

Redskins | Jordan Reed has ankle sprain

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 12:31:08 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (ankle) missed minicamp Tuesday, June 14, because of an ankle sprain he suffered last week, according to head coach Jay Gruden. Reed is not expected to practice this week.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has shown his fragility in previous seasons, but he stayed healthy and produced high-end TE1 numbers last year. It's unclear if he'll be ready for training camp, but the injury doesn't seem serious. He's still worth a high-end TE1 selection, with added value in PPR leagues.

Redskins | Jordan Reed to work on blocking

Thu, 05 May 2016 10:51:28 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed said he's going to work on his blocking technique to clean up holding fouls.

Fantasy Tip: Reed broke out with an 87-952-11 season last year. He has had some health concerns, but the upside outweighs that cloud. He's an upper-middle TE1 in fantasy.

Redskins | Jordan Reed vital to Kirk Cousins

Thu, 05 May 2016 09:51:41 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed's presence on the field successfully skewed QB Kirk Cousins' numbers in 2015. In 421 pass plays with Reed on the field, Cousins threw for 7.7 yards per attempt with a 111.9 passer rating and 24 touchdowns to four interceptions. When Reed wasn't on the field, Cousins threw for 6.2 yards per attempt with five scores, seven interceptions and a 73.3 rating in 148 plays.

The Redskins were 6-1 when Reed earned more than 65 receiving yards this season and 3-4 when the tight end went under that plateau.

Fantasy Tip: Reed had a big 87-952-11 season, and the team supplemented the offense with WR Josh Doctson in the draft. Reed is an upper-middle TE1, and Cousins is around the same range of quarterbacks. Doctson will give a clearer outlook in training camp, but he's not a bad WR4 gamble

Sun, 13 Mar 2016 18:42:48 -0700

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed could receive a contract extension later in the summer, according to beat writer Rich Tandler.

Fantasy Tip: Reed has the talent to be a sure-fire TE1 and a potential top five player at the position. However, he has an extensive injury history, so he is a high-risk, high-reward draft option.
