Steelers | Le'Veon Bell not reporting to camp

Thu, 27 Jul 2017 13:20:13 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will not report to training camp as he has not signed his franchise tender.

Fantasy Tip: As has been well documented, Bell wants to be paid. Quite frankly, he deserves to be paid. He's arguably the best running back in the NFL when he's healthy or not suspended. Assuming Bell eventually shows up and doesn't hold out into the season, draft him with one of the first three picks, especially in PPR formats.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell a workhorse in 2016

Sat, 22 Jul 2017 09:27:18 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell was suspended for the first three games of the 2016 season, but once he returned, he received 85.6 percent of the team's carries and 21.6 percent of the team's targets over the final 13 games of the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: Needless to say, that kind of workload is highly unusual for a running back in today's game and does not figure to be repeated anytime soon. Assuming Ben Roethlisberger, Martavis Bryant and Antonio Brown all stay healthy for the bulk of this season, expect the aforementioned percentages to dip into the 70- and 15-percent ranges, respectively. That still plenty of work to keep Bell in the conversation among the top three picks of any fantasy draft.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell will play in Week 1

Thu, 20 Jul 2017 18:15:18 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell hasn't committed to reporting to training camp on time, but he plans to play in every regular season game.

Fantasy Tip: Bell could skip some of camp as he lobbies for a lucrative long-term extension, but with no plans to take a holdout into the regular season, he remains a candidate for the No. 1 overall pick in all formats.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell looking to be paid like RB, WR

Wed, 19 Jul 2017 17:48:09 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said he is looking for a deal that will pay him like a No. 1 running back plus a No. 2 wide receiver, according to NFL Network analyst Ike Taylor.

Fantasy Tip: Bell finished fifth in the NFL with his 1,268 rushing yards in 2016, and his 75 receptions ranked second on the team. He will remain with the Steelers for at least one more season and should be a No. 1 running back in all fantasy leagues as long as he joins the team before Week 1.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell had big offer

Tue, 18 Jul 2017 11:54:28 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell was given an offer that would have averaged $12 million per year. He would have earned $30 million over the first two years and $42 million over three years, according to sources. The franchise tag he will play under in 2017 is worth $12.1 million.

Fantasy Tip: Bell apparently wants more over the next several years of his career. He deserves it as arguably the best running back in the NFL. He does have a history of suspensions, but he remains a No. 1 overall pick candidate.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell may sit out camp

Mon, 17 Jul 2017 16:13:39 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell may not sign his franchise tag tender until the Steelers break training camp, in the opinion of an unnamed teammate.

Fantasy Tip: Bell was not able to agree to a long-term extension, so he may not report to the team until close to the start of the regular season. Bell will continue to be a main part of the Steelers offense and is a first-round pick in all fantasy leagues.

Steelers | No extension for Le'Veon Bell

Mon, 17 Jul 2017 13:32:16 -0700

Pitssburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will play the 2017 season under the franchise tag if/when he signs it. He is not obligated to show up for training camp since he has not signed the tag.

Fantasy Tip: Bell will show up eventually. Missing training camp and time with the team is expensive. This does not affect his draft stock, at least not for this year. He should be one of the first players off draft boards.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell still negotiating

Mon, 17 Jul 2017 08:17:25 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell continues to negotiate a contract in the final hours before the deadline players receiving the franchise tag can sign a deal Monday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Bell remains a stud RB1 with enhanced value in PPR leagues.

Steelers | Nothing close between PIT, Le'Veon Bell

Sun, 16 Jul 2017 13:07:47 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is not close to an agreement on a long-term contract with the Steelers at this point. The Steelers have until Monday, July 17, to sign Bell to a multi-year deal.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to keep an eye on the situation because Bell could consider sitting out training camp if he does not have a contract. He is one of the top running backs in the NFL and should be a first-round pick in all leagues as long as he is with the team for Week 1.

Steelers | Pittsburgh to ramp up Le'Veon Bell talks

Fri, 14 Jul 2017 12:37:35 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is due to make $12.1 million in 2017 if he plays the season under the franchise tag, but the team hopes to "press" negotiations over the weekend as the sides head toward the deadline to sign franchise players to long-term deals Monday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is due to make roughly $4 million more than any other running back in the league if he plays under the tag this season, which obviously isn't helping things progress any quicker. Still, the 25-year-old is as good of a back as there is in the league and a great fit in the Steelers' offense, so look for both sides to make an honest attempt to get a deal done. Bell is a strong top-three pick in virtually all fantasy drafts.

Steelers | Deadline deal for Le'Veon Bell?

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 18:48:50 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's extension talks could go down to the July 17 deadline, according to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and Fittipaldo believes both sides have enough incentive to work out a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: Regardless of whether or not an extension is worked out, Bell enters the season as the workhorse of Pittsburgh's backfield. He should be a top-three pick in standard formats and a top-two pick in PPR leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell feeling good

Sat, 01 Jul 2017 11:43:10 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) has been training in Los Angeles this offseason and said he is feeling healthy after he underwent groin surgery earlier this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers have a few weeks to try to sign Bell to a long-term contract, but he should be at training camp even if an agreement is not reached. Bell will continue to be a major factor on offense for the Steelers and should be a first-round pick in all fantasy leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell 50-50 to sign deal

Tue, 27 Jun 2017 07:50:16 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell signing a long-term deal could go either way, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter. Both sides have motivation to get it done, but there's no deal in sight for now.

Fantasy Tip: Bell remains an elite option in PPR leagues, but he's no longer the clear-cut No. 1 fantasy running back. Injuries and suspensions have made his stock murky, but the PPR luster is still very evident.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell plays ball

Mon, 26 Jun 2017 06:14:25 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) posted a video of him playing basketball over the weekend after having core surgery in the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: It's a good sign that he's near full strength in the weeks preceding training camp. Bell has fallen from the top running back option in fantasy over the last couple of years, but he's one of the first names to consider after David Johnson in PPR leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell extension iffy before deadline?

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 13:10:30 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has a 50% chance of agreeing to a long-term extension before the July 17 deadline, in the opinion of Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. La Canfora cites Bell's history of injuries and suspensions as logical reasons to take a year-by-year approach with Bell. Plus, Bell counts $12 million against the Steelers' salary cap.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is arguably the best running back in football, but $12 million is a steep price to pay for a running back, no matter how good they are. Deal or not, it would behoove owners with a top three draft pick to select Bell.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell's workload being discussed

Thu, 15 Jun 2017 20:54:40 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's workload has been a topic of conversation for the coaching staff, according to offensive coordinator Todd Haley. "He's a guy who gets stronger every game," Haley said. "He does not want to come out of the game. He's a year older. We've got to make sure we cover all of that, which we will and do as a staff."

Fantasy Tip: Bell is one of the true workhorse backs left in the NFL, and he is also one of the most versatile backs. Expect him to see all the touches he can handle again in 2017, and he should be one of the first two players selected in drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell may miss minicamp

Wed, 31 May 2017 13:23:33 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell could skip the rest of organized team activities and the team's minicamp because he still has not signed his franchise tender, according to sources. Bell and the team has had some discussions about a long-term deal, but neither side seems worried about the situation at this point.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers have about six weeks to sign Bell to a long-term deal, so owners should monitor the situation. Bell is one of the best running backs in the NFL and will be a first-round pick in all fantasy leagues.

Steelers | No timetable for Le'Veon Bell

Sun, 26 Mar 2017 13:08:19 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said there is no timetable for RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) but the team wants him to be 100 percent for the start of the 2017 season.

Fantasy Tip: Bell probably will not do much during offseason workouts and could be limited during training camp but should be fine for Week 1. Bell is one of the top running backs in the NFL when he is healthy and will be a first-round pick in all fantasy drafts.

Mon, 13 Mar 2017 08:02:41 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) had surgery Monday, March 13, to repair a core muscle. Recovery time is generally in six weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is a stud in fantasy, but he just has to find a way to stay healthy. If he's no longer the top back in PPR leagues, he's not far from it.

Fri, 03 Mar 2017 15:05:41 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said he would be open to playing under the franchise tag tender next season because he believes the team has the players to win the Super Bowl.

Fantasy Tip: Bell will be with the Steelers for at least one more year and has a few months to work on a long-term deal with the team. He will continue to be a focal point on offense for the Steelers and will be a must-start option in all leagues.

Steelers | Pitt, Le'Veon Bell talking long-term deal

Thu, 02 Mar 2017 14:45:58 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell and the Steelers are heavily involved in negotiations on a long-term deal, according to a source. Terms of the possible deal were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be surprised if Bell becomes the highest paid running back in the NFL. In seasons in which Bell has played at least 12 games, he has averaged 1,786.0 total yards and 9.3 total touchdowns. Bell deserves to be one of the first few players, maybe even the first player, taken in fantasy drafts this year.

Steelers | No decision on Le'Veon Bell surgery

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 11:31:14 -0800

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) still has not decided whether he will undergo groin surgery and will need to make a decision in the near future. Bell recently had a second opinion on his groin injury.

Fantasy Tip: Earlier reports indicated that Bell is not expected to need surgery, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. Bell probably would not be on the field until training camp if he needs surgery but likely would be ready for the 2017 season. Bell should be a first round pick in all leagues if he is healthy and could be an option for the first overall pick.

Steelers | More on Le'Veon Bell's franchise tag

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 14:17:35 -0800

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell was given the exclusive franchise tag Monday, Feb. 27, meaning he cannot negotiate with other teams. The tag will earn Bell at least $12 million for 2017.

Fantasy Tip: As has been stated previously, Bell should be one of the first players taken in fantasy drafts in 2017 as long as he is healthy. The Steelers could rely on him even more if they feel Ben Roethlisberger is regressing.

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 13:01:11 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell received the franchise tag Monday, Feb. 27, as expected, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: No surprise here. Bell could end up being a Steeler for the remainder of his career. He's one of the most skilled running backs in football and should be one of the first running backs, and players, taken in fantasy drafts this year.

Mon, 27 Feb 2017 11:11:03 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell is expected to receive the franchise tag before the franchise tag deadline Wednesday, March 1.

Fantasy Tip: There's no way the Steelers are going to let their star running back leave Pittsburgh. Look for Bell to play this year under the tag while both sides hammer out a long-term deal. Bell should be one of the first three to five players taken in fantasy drafts as long as he's healthy.

Steelers | Not much progress between PIT Le'Veon Bell

Fri, 24 Feb 2017 15:47:30 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell has not made much progress in contract talks with the Steelers and likely will receive the franchise tag if the two sides are not able to reach an agreement before the deadline.

Fantasy Tip: Bell should be with the Steelers for at least one more year and should continue to be a focal point in their offense. He likely will be a top five pick in all fantasy leagues and will be a weekly starting option.

Wed, 22 Feb 2017 11:43:25 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) is not scheduled to undergo groin surgery at this time even though he met with doctors after the season, according to a source. Bell probably would have had surgery by now if it was necessary.

Fantasy Tip: Bell likely will rehab the injury during the offseason and could be limited during workouts but should be fine for training camp. He probably will receive the franchise tag from the Steelers or sign a long-term contract. He continues to be one of the best running backs in the NFL and should be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues.

Steelers | Pitt will tag Le'Veon Bell if needed

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 14:58:07 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell will hit the free-agent market March 9, and general manager Kevin Colbert said signing Bell and tagging Bell are both options. "The tag is always an option, and it's something we'll use if necessary," Colbert said. Colbert did add that even if Bell is tagged the Steelers still want to sign him to a long-term deal eventually.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is perennially one of the best running backs in the league. It would be in the Steelers' best interest to sign their star running back to a long-term contract sooner rather than later. It's unlikely that Bell will be playing for another team in 2017. He should be one of the first players taken in fantasy drafts as long as he is in good health.

Thu, 16 Feb 2017 12:19:03 -0800

The Pittsburgh Steelers want impending free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell and WR Antonio Brown to remain Steelers for the rest of their respective careers, according to general manager Kevin Colbert.

Fantasy Tip: One would hope so. Bell and Brown are two of the best players in the NFL and arguably the best at their respective positions. Both are early first-round picks no matter the format, as long as they're healthy.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell's injury being investigated

Tue, 14 Feb 2017 12:17:18 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) and the Steelers are being investigated by the NFL over injury report protocol regarding Bell's groin injury. The injury was not listed on injury reports in the weeks before the AFC Championship. Bell left that game because of the groin injury. Pittsburgh has said that Bell's injury did not impact his practice participation as Bell missed practice due to a personal matter, not an injury. These investigations may lead to fines, suspensions or lost draft picks.

Fantasy Tip: It's unlikely that the Steelers would be punished if Bell indeed missed practice because of a personal matter. Nonetheless, Bell is arguably the best player in the fantasy football realm and is worthy of being the No. 1 overall pick in all formats next season.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell seeking third opinion

Tue, 07 Feb 2017 20:50:50 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) mentioned to people around him that he will seek a third opinion on potentially getting surgery. Previously, one doctor told him to get it, while the other suggested rest.

Fantasy Tip: This is the injury that led to Bell departing in the AFC Championship Game, and while his course of action is still unknown, owners can pretty much dismiss this issue going into next season. By the start of training camp, he should be back to 100 percent, and as a result, he can be safely relied upon as one of the first few players taken off the board in drafts everywhere.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell still weighing surgery

Wed, 01 Feb 2017 10:14:21 -0800

Updating an ongoing story, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) is still assessing his options to determine if he needs offseason groin surgery. "I'm kind of in the process of seeing a couple of doctors, seeing if I have to get surgery or not," Bell said. "I'm hoping for the best, but I understand it's a tough game. If I don't get surgery, I go into the rehab process, work hard, get back to how I was last year, or actually, better. I'm going to take it from there."

Fantasy Tip: Bell is set to become a free agent in March but is a priority for the Steelers. It would be surprising if he signed elsewhere. He remains a surefire RB1 as long as he enters draft season healthy and out of trouble.

Steelers | Pitt wants Le'Veon Bell long-term

Tue, 31 Jan 2017 14:06:19 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers Le'Veon Bell is being viewed as a long-term asset to the Steelers, according to owner Art Rooney. Rooney said the Steelers are looking at Bell from a long-term view as opposed to simply placing the franchise tag on their star running back. Rooney added that he believes Bell has grown from his suspensions.

Fantasy Tip: Even with his suspension this season, Bell easily produced RB1 numbers. Bell, David Johnson and Ezekiel Elliott are each worthy of being the first running back selected in fantasy drafts next season, although Bell and Johnson possess more value in PPR leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell had pre-existing injury

Mon, 23 Jan 2017 05:55:55 -0800

Updating an earlier report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (groin) had an injured groin before the AFC Championship game Sunday, Jan. 22. Bell said he had been managing the ailment, but he knew during warmups that he wasn't close to 100 percent. He left the game and returned for one play, but he knew his day was done afterwards. "I saw the seam and couldn't hit it," Bell said. "It was like I was running 50 percent out there. At that point, I knew I couldn't go. I was holding the team back."

Fantasy Tip: Bell will be one of the top options at the position in fantasy drafts next season. There is some concern about his durability, though. He's a fantastic combo back in PPR leagues, but he has had a knack for injuries the last few years.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 20, and is not on the injury report for the AFC Championship game.

Fantasy Tip: Bell missed a few days of practice this week because of personal reasons but will be a main factor on offense for the Steelers against the New England Patriots. Bell rushed for 337 yards in the first two playoff games and should be a No.1 running back in all leagues.

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 16:11:39 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's 157.0 yards from scrimmage per game in 2016 were third most ever for a running back in one season.

Fantasy Tip: The Steelers were wise and fed Bell the ball throughout his 12 games. Bell, David Johnson and Ezekiel Elliott each deserve to be the first running back taken in fantasy drafts, but Bell and Johnson have more value in PPR formats.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell ran 30 times for 170 yards, with no touchdowns, in an 18-16 win over the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Yardage leagues would have gained many points from Bell's performance, but don't let that discourage you from including Bell among RB1 or RB2 selections for next season. Assuming Bell keeps his nose clean and stays away from substances, he should be setting himself up well for a good payday and a strong 2017.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell's style poses a challenge

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's unique running style is difficult to prepare for, according to Kansas City Chiefs SS Eric Berry, and defensive coordinator Bob Sutton said Bell's patience makes it hard for defenders to remain in their gaps.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ran for 144 yards on 18 carries against Kansas City in the regular season, and the Chiefs' 26th-ranked run defense isn't likely to have an answer for him in this weekend's rematch either. Bell should be one of the top overall fantasy plays in the divisional round.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell does not practice

Wed, 11 Jan 2017 12:55:34 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has received a lot of touches this season, so he was just receiving a day off to rest. Bell will be used in the running and passing game against the Kansas City Chiefs and should be an attractive starting option in all leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell likely to take Wednesday off

Tue, 10 Jan 2017 09:49:18 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is unlikely to practice Wednesday, Jan. 11, for maintenance reasons after touching the ball 31 times in the team's Wild Card win over the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Expect a similar workload Sunday in Arrowhead Stadium. Bell has been on a serious roll since Week 11, amassing at least 137 total yards in every game while adding seven touchdowns. He gouged the Chiefs for 176 total yards on 23 touches in his season debut in Week 4 and figures to surpass that as Ben Roethlisberger historically struggles on the road. Bell should be considered the top RB play on the board again this weekend.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell scores twice

Sun, 08 Jan 2017 14:19:55 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries in the Wild Card playoff game against the Miami Dolphins. He also caught two passes for seven yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Bell continues to be one of the best running backs in the NFL and has recorded at least 118 rushing yards in six of his last seven games. He will be facing a tougher defense in the Divisional round of the playoffs but is still a must-start option in all fantasy leagues.
