Steelers | Le'Veon Bell a no-show at workouts |
Wed, 18 Apr 2018 13:07:40 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is working out in Miami as the Steelers begin voluntary workouts. Long-term contract negotiations are currently at an impasse between Bell and Pittsburgh.
Fantasy Tip: No surprise here. Bell wants a long-term contract and Pittsburgh's focus is elsewhere right now. Time will tell how long Bell will hold out from Steelers activities, but he's arguably the No. 1 fantasy pick when he returns.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell likely will report for Week 1 |
Wed, 07 Mar 2018 17:41:29 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said he will skip offseason workouts and training camp but likely will report for Week 1.
Fantasy Tip: Bell likely will have a similar timetable this season as he did offseason when he did not report until the start of the season. Owners should continue to monitor the situation to see if anything changes in Bell's situation. He is a No. 1 running back in all leagues when he plays.

Tue, 06 Mar 2018 12:14:45 -0800
Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell received the exclusive franchise tag Tuesday, March 6, and will not be allowed to negotiate with any other teams this offseason.
Fantasy Tip: The two sides will have a few months to work out a long-term deal, but Bell may decide to hold out if he does not get a deal. Owners will need to monitor the situation during the season to see what happens to Bell. He is a No. 1 running back in all fantasy leagues when he plays.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell officially tagged |
Tue, 06 Mar 2018 11:52:19 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell was officially given the franchise tag Tuesday, March 6, according to a source. Bell's tag is worth $14.544 million.
Fantasy Tip: As has been well documented, Bell is arguably the best running back and/or player in the National Football League. He's a No. 1 running back and virtually a No. 1 or No. 2 wide receiver. He wants to be paid more and could hold out if a deal isn't struck. As long as he doesn't hold out into the season, Bell deserves to be the first player taken in fantasy drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell mulling options if tagged |
Mon, 05 Mar 2018 17:25:32 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell reportedly is leaving "all options on the table" if he receives the franchise tag for a second straight season, including retirement, skipping training camp or holding out until Week 10, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Fantasy Tip: The Steelers have reportedly raised their offer from last year, but Bell is insisting on "playing for strictly my value to the team" and does not plan on playing for less than $14.5 million per year. After such a high-usage year in 2017, Pittsburgh is right to take this year-to-year. While he is still very much an elite fantasy RB1, owners would be wise to be cautious in how highly they value him. Durability and dependability have not been his biggest assets throughout his career.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell, Steelers not close to deal |
Mon, 05 Mar 2018 16:46:08 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell and the Steelers are still not close to agreeing on a long-term contract extension, hence the expectation that Bell will be tagged before the deadline Tuesday, March 6. Bell wants to be paid much more than $14.5 million per year and for that amount to take into account how valuable he is as a pass-catcher.
Fantasy Tip: Bell deserves to be paid, but it may take some time for the two sides to come to an agreement. We'll see if Bell holds out once he is tagged, but for now he can still be viewed as the No. 1 fantasy running back and even No. 1 fantasy player.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell tagged again |
Mon, 05 Mar 2018 13:43:45 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is receiving the franchise tag for a second straight year barring an unforeseen last-minute, long-term deal.
Fantasy Tip: Both sides have plenty of time to negotiate a long-term deal with Bell being tagged. As stated earlier, there is a good case for Bell being the first player taken in 2018 fantasy drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell in trivial situation |
Mon, 05 Mar 2018 13:29:12 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell and the Steelers will have difficult striking a long-term deal for two reasons, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer. The first reason is that Bell playing out the franchise tag would lead to him earning $14.54 million and then becoming a free agent next year. The second reason is that Bell would be earning $35.48 million over the next two years because of the two franchise tags he would have received.
Fantasy Tip: Both sides want a long-term deal done before Tuesday's franchise tag deadline, but that's obviously easier said than done. Bell will make a hefty amount of money no matter what happens, but the Steelers don't want him being available next offseason. Nonetheless, Bell merits No. 1 fantasy pick consideration.
