Steelers | Le'Veon Bell not limited

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 17:32:58 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) appeared to be a full participant during practice Friday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is coming off a knee injury and likely will miss the first four games of the season but appears to be healthy. Bell's fantasy value will take a hit because of the suspension but he should still be considered a No. 1 running back in most leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell cleared for camp

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 18:54:47 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) has been cleared to participate in training camp. Bell is less than nine months removed from tearing his posterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament. "I'm going to do as much as coach Tomlin lets me do," Bell said. "I'm confident where I am right now. I felt if we had a game tomorrow, I'd be able to play."

Fantasy Tip: It's good that Bell is feeling healthy and ready for the season, but off-field issues have obviously interfered. He is facing a four-game suspension, but should still be considered as a low-end RB1 in the late-first or early-second round.

Steelers | Date set for Le'Veon Bell's appeal

Thu, 28 Jul 2016 14:34:28 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's appeal for his four-game suspension is tentatively set for mid-August, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Fantasy Tip: A successful appeal seems unlikely for Bell, but we won't officially know until mid-August. It's best to plan to go without him for the first four games of the season. DeAngelo Williams is one of the better running back handcuffs to draft this year as he is capable of providing four quality starts in addition to the playing time he'll have behind Bell. Bell should still be taken as a low-end RB1 in PPR leagues, while Williams is more of a mid-round option.

Steelers | Little chance Le'Veon Bell wins appeal

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 19:03:49 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell has vowed not to miss any games due to suspension for reportedly missing several drug tests, but no sources with knowledge of the situation believe he has a strong chance to win the appeal. As such, RB DeAngelo Williams would be in line to carry the load until Bell returns.

Fantasy Tip: He is still worth drafting as an RB1, but you'll obviously either need to draft DeAngelo Williams early or have plenty of depth on hand to fill the void in the first four games if his suspension is indeed upheld. Bell is a top-notch option when he is on the field.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell: 'I won't miss games'

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 09:54:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell, who is appealing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's drug policy, said "I'm not going to miss games, trust me." "I'm gonna win the appeal...ppl have no idea what happened, but don't worry...let em hate," Bell wrote directly to a fan. "When I end up missin no games at all, ppl for sure gonna try to love me again and I'm only ridin with my LOYAL fans!!"

Fantasy Tip: Bell is rather optimistic about his chances, that's for sure. There's a good chance he won't win the suspension, though, so a player that would've been a surefire top-five pick in point-per-reception leagues now becomes more of a midrange RB1. DeAngelo Williams finds himself in a similar spot replacing Bell, and he put up great numbers in 2016 in a leading role. But draft Williams as more of an RB3/flex type with more value to open up the season.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell unlikely to win appeal

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 11:27:24 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is unlikely to have a successful appeal for his pending four-game suspension due to the NFL's stringent policies. The results of the appeal are expected before the regular season starts. Additionally, Bell missed several drug tests resulting in the suspension, as opposed to the originally reported one missed test, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Bell will be missing the first four games of the 2016 season, paving the way for DeAngelo Williams to start in his place once again. Williams' fantasy value brings him up a few rounds, and he will be one of the top running back handcuffs, assuming Bell is suspended. Bell should still be considered a low-end RB1 option, while Williams is now worth a look as low-end RB2 to high-end RB3.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell may face suspension

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 06:53:51 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is facing a four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL's drug policy because of a missed test, according to sources. The appeals process is underway, and no announcement has been made. No date for Bell's appeal has been set, but it's expected to be heard before the start of the regular season. If it's not overturned, he would miss the first four games of the season.

Fantasy Tip: It's important to note that this was because he missed a test, and it wasn't the result of a failed test. However, there is very little history of these things being overturned. Bell is coming off of torn ligaments in his knee, and the possibility of him missing a quarter of the season sparks a descent into the low-end RB1 mix. If the suspension is overturned, Bell is in the mix for the top back in PPR leagues. DeAngelo Williams was expected to remain involved with a healthy Bell, and the Steelers have two good matchups of the first four games. The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins were 32nd and 26th, respectively, in rushing yards allowed last season. They'll have two tough matchups against the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals, though. Williams will serve as a high-end RB3 in drafts, but he'll likely be reduced to an RB4 or a handcuff when Bell hits the field. Fitzgerald Toussaint is slated to back up Williams if Bell is absent. He could be worth a final-round flyer for depth.

Steelers | Pittsburgh may have two RBs in backfield

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 14:55:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said he believes there will be times that he and RB DeAngelo Williams will be on the field at the same time. "There are definitely going to be packages where me and 'D-Lo' are going to be out there at the same time," Bell said. "I'm ready for that."

Fantasy Tip: Bell will receive most of the work at running back in 2016 but Williams should see decent playing time because of his solid play last season. Bell probably would be more of a receiver if both are on the field at the game time, which would help his fantasy value. Bell should be selected in the first round, while Williams could be a middle- to late-round option in drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell on track for camp

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 17:52:48 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) said he is on schedule to be ready for training camp and that his leg is stronger than ever before.

Fantasy Tip: Unless he suffers an unexpected setback, Bell should be ready to go for Week 1. He carries some injury concerns, but he should still be one of the first running backs selected in all formats.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell hints at contract demands

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 19:19:44 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell released a rap song in which he references needing "15 a year" and refers to himself as the top back in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: A big 2016 season would go a long way to helping Bell land a lucrative contract, and he should be one of the first backs off the board in all formats.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell targets third preseason game

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 07:07:01 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) is optimistic to be ready by the third preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Bell presents some health risk, but he's one of the best fantasy running backs in the game. He's a high-end RB1.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell denies drug test rumor

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 22:08:17 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell addressed rumors that he missed a drug test, which would result in a failed test result. "I haven't missed any drug tests, failed any drug tests. I am fine," Bell said Tuesday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: That's good news for prospective fantasy owners of Bell, and especially those who own him in long-term keeper formats.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell may wait for new deal

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 10:57:50 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) is a candidate for a contract extension, but the Steelers may want to make sure he is completely recovered from his knee injury before signing him.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is expected to be ready for the start of training camp and should be a big part of the offense in 2016. Bell is one of the best running backs in fantasy football when healthy and should be a first-round option in most drafts.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams will be used

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 09:30:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams will be used by offensive coordinator Todd Haley in 2016 despite the return of RB Le'Veon Bell from injury. "I think the difference between last year and this year is that we got a big body of work from DeAngelo last year," said Haley. "We got to see him do a lot of things, and obviously he did a very good job for us. Knowing a lot more about him will maybe help give Le'Veon more rest when he needs it, although knowing Le'Veon he never wants to come off."

Fantasy Tip: Williams proved very valuable as a waiver-wire darling last year after Bell went down with injury, so he's surely capable of being productive with fewer carries, too. However, it remains to be seen how much he'll be used, and as long as Bell is healthy, Williams' fantasy value remains low.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell deflects injury proneness

Tue, 24 May 2016 11:54:24 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) doesn't believe each of his three injuries in each of his first three seasons in the NFL aren't indicative of him being injury prone. Bell said he's still going to be physical but protect himself at the same time.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, Bell is still a top RB1 consideration despite coming off a serious injury. He has added value in PPR formats, too.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell full-go by camp?

Tue, 24 May 2016 11:41:27 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) said he will be 100% healthy by training camp. He has already participated in individual drills during organized team activities, including running and cutting, as he continues to recover from a torn medial collateral ligament.

Fantasy Tip: The prognosis is encouraging for Bell, but the Steelers probably won't push him too hard this offseason or in the preseason. There is a risk factor, of course, as he's coming off a serious injury, but he should still be viewed as a top-tier RB1, especially in PPR leagues.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell says he'll be ready

Tue, 24 May 2016 10:19:23 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee), who is recovering from surgery for a torn medial collateral ligament in his knee, said he plans on making a full return in time for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Before we get our hopes up we'll want to see how Bell looks in training camp as he tests his surgically repaired knee. But if he's on track to be a full go in Week 1 this fall, Bell makes the case as a top overall fantasy pick, especially in point-per-reception setups.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell unknown for OTAs

Wed, 11 May 2016 05:54:48 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's (knee) status for organized team activities in a few weeks is unknown, but he's expected to be limited if he's cleared. Training camp might be the best gauge used to determine his status as he's six months removed from right knee surgery. There's no timetable for a full return. As it stands, there's no definitive reason to believe Bell will miss Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Bell's knee injury has been a bit of a mystery, but, as stated, he should be ready for the beginning of the season. It's not known if he'll be as effective or full strength until the season gets going. He's a high-end RB1 consideration with some caution flags after two severe knee injuries.

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 16:25:35 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) posted a video on Twitter showing himself dunking a basketball.

Fantasy Tip: Bell likely will be limited during offseason workouts but appears to be on track for training camp and the start of the 2016 season. Bell will be a first-round pick in all drafts if he is healthy and will be in contention for the first overall pick.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell part of initial drug testing

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 09:50:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell tweeted that he was part of the initial round of random drug tests Wednesday, April 20.

Fantasy Tip: For what it's worth, Bell also tweeted "good luck with that sample." There has been some doubt whether he'll be ready for the season after his knee injury. When he's right, he's arguably the best running back in fantasy. Devoid of setbacks, he should be among the first few RBs taken.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell conservative with rehab

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 14:19:53 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) is taking a conservative approach with his rehabilitation process. Bell hasn't done much more than jogging just four months after tearing his medial collateral ligament. Bell said the only thing he hasn't been cleared for is cutting and sprinting. There is still no timetable for Bell's return, but Bell's goal is to be 100% when he plays. "I feel like I am going to be a better player at the end of this and that's what I want," Bell said.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is arguably the No. 1 fantasy running back when he's fully healthy. His pass-catching ability makes him all the more valuable in PPR leagues. Assuming he makes a full recovery this offseason, Bell should be one of the first players selected in fantasy drafts.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell begins running

Tue, 01 Mar 2016 08:54:08 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) has been cleared to begin running Tuesday, March 1.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is still questionable to be ready for the season opener, but he remains an RB1 in fantasy.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell questionable for opener?

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 11:25:46 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) had doubt cast on his status for Week 1 by general manager Kevin Colbert Wednesday, Feb. 24. "We can't even say he'll be ready for the regular season because we won't know that until he goes through the whole process," Colbert said. "His health and his ability to return at 100% is the most important."

Fantasy Tip: Bell should still be in the mix of the first five running backs if he isn't slated to miss much time.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell not running yet

Sat, 06 Feb 2016 08:57:52 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) said he has not been cleared to run at this time. Bell suffered a torn medial collateral ligament during the season.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor his progress during the offseason to see if there will be any setbacks during Bell's recovery. Bell still has a few months to rest so he is not an injury concern at this point. He likely will be selected in the first round of league next season if he is healthy.

Steelers | No big offer for Le'Veon Bell?

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 19:22:46 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell won't receive a "break-bank offer" this offseason, according to beat writer Ed Bouchette.

Fantasy Tip: Bell's injury history is likely a cause for concern, but he is an elite fantasy running back when healthy. He is entering a contract year, and if he performs well in 2016, expect Pittsburgh and plenty of other teams to be lining up to pay him.

Steelers | President wants Le'Veon Bell to stay

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 13:40:32 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is entering a contract year, and team president Art Rooney said he would like Bell's football future to be in Pittsburgh.

Fantasy Tip: The ideal goal for the Steelers will be to sign Bell to a long-term deal, although they may not pay as much as Bell or his agent would like. We'll see what transpires over the next few months, but Bell is a top-tier fantasy running back when healthy.

Steelers | Le'Veon to be fine for next year

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 15:56:00 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) is expected to be back in time for the regular season opener in 2016 after injuring the medial collateral and posterior collateral ligaments in his knee. The anterior cruciate ligament in Bell's right knee was uninjured, making it an easier recovery. A realistic timetable for a recovery is six to nine months. It's unknown when Bell will undergo surgery on his knee.

Fantasy Tip: Bell's 2015 season was obviously a big disappointment, considering he went as high as No. 1 overall in a lot of fantasy leagues. He's deserving of the top overall spot again next year (mainly in PPR leagues), and he won't have a two-game suspension hanging over his head this time, either.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell's ACL intact

Tue, 03 Nov 2015 09:45:29 -0800

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's (knee) anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee is intact, which helps his recovery timetable.

Fantasy Tip: He's still lost for the season, but it is good news. DeAngelo Williams ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) makes a risky RB2 against the Oakland Raiders this week. He looked great early in the season when Bell was suspended, but there's no guarantee that carries over on FantasyScore this week.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell to IR, Isaiah Pead signs

Mon, 02 Nov 2015 11:21:55 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Nov. 2, and free-agent RB Isaiah Pead (Rams) was signed to an undisclosed deal in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: You can safely drop Bell in all redraft formats. Pead is nothing more than depth for Pittsburgh's ground game. DeAngelo Williams is the one you want to own now, and he should be picked up immediately in all formats. He performed very well in Bell's two-game absence to start the season and can put up RB1 numbers in the right matchups.

Steelers | Torn MCL for Le'Veon Bell

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 19:30:05 -0800

Updating a previous story, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) has a badly torn MCL and other damage and is expected to miss the remainder of the season, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: With Bell out of action, DeAngelo Williams ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) becomes a player to grab if he is available in your league. He was productive while starting for two games at the start of the year while Bell served a suspension.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams set to start?

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 19:13:30 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams could be in line to start if results of an MRI for RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) confirm that he will miss the remainder of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Williams ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) ran for 204 yards and three touchdowns in two games as the starter while Bell was suspended to start the year, so he has shown what he can do when given a heavy workload. He is a must-add player in seasonal leagues if available.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell likely out for year

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 19:07:09 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) expected to be put on the season-ending Reserve/Injured list with a knee injury, pending MRI confirmation. RB Isaiah Pead is in line to take his spot on the roster.

Fantasy Tip: With Bell likely done for the year, DeAngelo Williams ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is in line for a big boost in carries. Pick him up if he is available, and he could make a solid option at FantasyScore going forward depending on his price tag.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell may have MCL injury

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 14:35:04 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) had an initial exam that suggested his injury may be a torn medial collateral ligament and not a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) may have dodged a major bullet with this injury, but he will still be sidelined for a while either way. It looks like DeAngelo Williams ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will be the featured back moving forward, and he had 71 yards on nine carries against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell will not return

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 12:45:18 -0800

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) will not return to Week 8's game against the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering an apparent right knee injury.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($8,600, 17.2% of cap) had 10 carries for 45 rushing yards, along with two receptions for 13 receiving yards, before leaving the game. DeAngelo Williams ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is receiving the bulk of the carries in his absence and would be the starter if Bell is forced to miss an extended period of time. Keep checking back for further updates on Bell's status.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell carted off

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 11:05:24 -0800

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell (knee) was carted off the field after he suffered a right knee injury during the team's Week 8 game.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Bell suffered a serious injury during the game, but owners will need to look for an update in the next day or two. DeAngelo Williams would start if Bell misses significant time and played well early in the season when Bell was suspended.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell making up for lost time

Tue, 27 Oct 2015 02:30:48 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is fourth in the league with 511 rushing yards despite missing two games this season.

Fantasy Tip: Even with Ben Roethlisberger ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) potentially returning, Bell should still see plenty of work against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8. In fact, he needs to be in the mix as a RB1 at FantasyScore against a Bengals front that is allowing 4.9 yards per carry.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell runs for 111 yards, TD

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 22:14:15 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell carried 21 times for 111 yards and the game-winning touchdown with no time left in regulation in Week 5 against the San Diego Chargers Monday, Oct. 12. He also added four receptions for 16 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) has a rather high price tag, but he remains worth it in FantasyScore since the Steelers are leaning upon him heavily with struggling Michael Vick under center for the injured Ben Roethlisberger.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell returns with a score

Sun, 27 Sep 2015 16:40:34 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell made his regular season debut in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams. He carried 19 times for 62 yards and a touchdown, and he also added seven receptions for 70 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) was pretty sharp in his first game back after a two-game suspension. He might be leaned upon heavily in the coming weeks with Ben Roethlisberger dealing with a knee injury. He was a safety valve early and often for Michael Vick, and Bell could rack up plenty of receptions in the next few games.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell returns to starting role

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 11:52:05 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will take over the lead rushing duties after he returns from his suspension in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams, with RB DeAngelo Williams backing him up. The Steelers are expected to use Bell's elite pass-catching abilities all over the field this weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Put Bell ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) back into all of your starting lineups immediately, including at FantasyScore. Williams ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has earned a complementary role behind Bell but will probably be nothing more than a sleeper pick as a flex in daily games moving forward.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams to see some time

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 07:20:13 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams will spell RB Le'Veon Bell at times, according to QB Ben Roethlisberger. "Le'Veon doesn't like to come out of the game. That's no secret and that's because he's in phenomenal shape," Roethlisberger said. "But I think it's still beneficial not just to him (or) to this team in the short term, but in the long term. You're talking about a long season. If every third series, every fourth series, whatever it is, let DeAngelo come in."

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) returns with a huge price tag on FantasyScore against the St. Louis Rams. He hasn't practiced or taken a hit for a couple of weeks, and DeAngelo Williams ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been somewhat sensational. It's hard to get a good read on the situation, but Williams could remain involved if the team eases Bell in. Give Bell a week for the team to show its hand before using him on FantasyScore.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell returning for Week 3

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 08:34:21 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell is slated to return for Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams after serving his two-game suspension.

Fantasy Tip: Bell ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) is a top-five talent in fantasy football, but DeAngelo Williams ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has been excellent in Bell's absence. The team could opt to ease Bell in this week because he hasn't been able to practice for two weeks. See if Mike Tomlin drops any clues about Bell's usage before busting out that much of your cap for him on FantasyScore.

San Diego Chargers RB Danny Woodhead faces the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2, and late in 2014, the Bengals allowed 80 yards receiving to Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell and 85 yards receiving to Indianapolis Colts RB Dan Herron.

Fantasy Tip: Woodhead ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) appeared to be both the goal-line back and the primary pass-catching back in Week 1, and given Cincinnati's recent issues defending running backs out of the backfield, Woodhead could be a great option to free up some cap room at FantasyScore.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams can spell Bell

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 09:59:19 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams, who gained 127 yards against the New England Patriots in the season opener, will still be a factor in the running game when RB Le'Veon Bell returns from suspension, according to QB Ben Roethlisberger. "I think he's proven he can be a guy who can help give Le'Veon breaks. If he's tired, he won't be nervous to come out because he knows he has a guy who can step up right behind him and do great things."

Fantasy Tip: Sure Williams ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) can help give Bell a blow when he needs it, but the fact remains that Bell is Pittsburgh's bellcow running back, which means there won't be much left over for Williams. After Week 2, Williams' fantasy value will drop significantly, and he'll mainly be insurance for Bell owners.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell thinks he can play better

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 12:59:18 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell said he believes he can play better this season because he thinks he is quicker than he was last season. "A lot of people talk about the season I had last year. They call it a breakout season, but I don't look at it like that," Bell said. "I look at it as me just getting started. ... I still feel like I can do a lot of things better. Last year wasn't even close to me being my best." Bell said he lost four pounds this offseason and is at 2.9% body fat.

Fantasy Tip: Bell will miss the first two games of the season because of a suspension but should still be a first-round pick in most leagues. Bell has the ability to help in the running and passing game and should be a weekly starting option for owners.

Steelers | PIT regulars sitting out this weekend

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 11:42:29 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Le'Veon Bell, WR Antonio Brown, TE Heath Miller, C Maurkice Pouncey and LB James Harrison will all sit out for the team's Hall of Fame Game against the Minnesota Vikings this weekend. The Steelers will be extra cautious with an extra preseason game on their schedule this year. Backup QB Landry Jones will receive significant snaps in the game.

Fantasy Tip: A lot of team's regulars will be rested in preseason games, and that's even more so the case early on in the preseason. There's nothing to see here for fantasy owners.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell's suspension reduced

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 12:00:57 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's original three-game suspension has been reduced to a two-game suspension Tuesday, July 28.

Fantasy Tip: Bell has still been drafted pretty high, but his value increases with the extra game he gains via this reduction. Despite the fact that he'll only be playing in 14 games, barring an injury, he could easily still finish as a RB1, if not the top running back in PPR games. DeAngelo Williams is expected to start the first two games of the season, so taking him late in drafts is a worthwhile goal.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell staying prepared

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 11:27:13 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell doesn't know yet how many games he'll be missing this season due to an impending suspension. Bell is focused on training camp and being a better teammate, though. He said he's going to give it his all every time he's on the practice field. Bell also said he might be given a lighter load in training camp this time around.

Fantasy Tip: Bell could end up being suspended somewhere between one and three games. Whether his suspension is reduced or upheld, he should still be regarded as a RB1. If his suspension is reduced, he should still be an early first-round pick. If he still ends up serving a three-game suspension, he's more of a late first-round pick to early second-round pick.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell working to reduce ban

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 08:25:28 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell's legal team and the NFL are negotiating to reduce Bell's three-game suspension to one or two games.

Fantasy Tip: Bell's fantasy stock would firmly be in the top half of the first round of most drafts if a game was knocked off his three-game suspension.

Steelers | Le'Veon Bell in rare company

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 13:46:37 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell joined RBs Marshall Faulk and Roger Craig last season as the only running backs in history to gain 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same year.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is a special talent, but that talent could be on the sideline for three games if Bell's three-game suspension isn't reduced. He should still be one of the first running backs off the board in fantasy drafts even if the suspension is upheld.

Steelers | DeAngelo Williams busy as backup

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 17:39:07 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams said he "absolutely" received enough work as the backup during the first day of training camp Sunday, July 26, and he expects to be ready to start Week 1 if RB Le'Veon Bell is suspended.

Fantasy Tip: Bell is still waiting to appeal his suspension, but Williams will likely have to start for at least a couple of games. He will have short-term value at FantasyScore while Bell is sidelined, and in seasonal leagues, Bell owners should try to grab Williams as an insurance policy.
