Free-agent TE Dion Sims (Dolphins) has agreed to a three-year, $18-million deal with the Chicago Bears, according to sources. The deal includes $10 million in guarantees.

Dolphins | Miami still interested in Dion Sims

Wed, 22 Feb 2017 11:42:23 -0800

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent TE Dion Sims is a player the Dolphins are still interested in re-signing even though they have an agreement to acquire Jacksonville Jaguars TE Julius Thomas, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Sims would be insurance for the Dolphins in case Thomas continues to struggle with injuries, but Sims may want to test the free-agent market to see if he can find a starting job. Sims probably should only be considered a low-end No. 2 tight end no matter where he plays in 2017.

Dolphins | Coach wants Dion Sims back

Thu, 12 Jan 2017 09:51:39 -0800

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent TE Dion Sims said head coach Adam Gase told him that he wants Sims to re-sign with the Dolphins and that Sims would be the starting tight end. "He told me he wants me back as a No. 1," Sims said. "I want to be back. I have obviously proven myself to be a starting tight end in the league and want to continue in that role. I've done some great things this year and improved a lot."

Fantasy Tip: Sims finished the 2016 season with 256 yards and four touchdowns and was the starter for most of the games after Jordan Cameron was placed on the Reserve/Injured list. It appears that Sims will be back with the Dolphins but he would not be more than a low-end No. 2 tight end in most leagues.

Miami Dolphins TE Dion Sims (concussion) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

Dolphins | Dion Sims limited

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 15:12:11 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Dion Sims (ankle) was limited in practice Tuesday, Sept. 27. Sims' status is an estimate as the Dolphins did not conduct a practice.

Fantasy Tip: Sims will get the start on Thursday with Jordan Cameron already ruled out. He's a sneaky start after catching four balls for 46 yards last week and is especially worth a long look in daily contests as a cheap investment.

Dolphins | Limited practice for Dion Sims

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 14:50:51 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Dion Sims (ankle) was limited in practice Monday, Sept. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Jordan Cameron has already been ruled out for Week 4, so Sims could provide a sneaky start on Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. He'll be a cheap option in daily formats after catching four passes for 46 yards last week after Cameron was injured.

Dolphins | Two Miami TEs seeing more reps

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 19:42:09 -0700

Miami Dolphins TEs Thomas Duarte and Dion Sims have been seeing more reps in training camp and the preseason with TE MarQueis Gray sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: Sims is the No. 2 behind TE Jordan Cameron, while Duarte is battling for the No. 3 job. Neither has much fantasy appeal unless Cameron suffers a long-term injury.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron still a fit in Miami

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 18:31:13 -0800

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron is in the team's plans for 2016, according to new head coach Adam Gase. He is scheduled to cost $9.5 million against the salary cap. "Obviously, the tight end position is something we've made a living on in this offense over the past three years, so both those guys (Cameron and Dion Sims), I really see a great fit as far as what we do," Gase said.

Fantasy Tip: Gase has watched Julius Thomas, Martellus Bennett and even Zach Miller perform well in his offense over the last three seasons. Cameron had only 35 catches in his first season as a Dolphin and Miami can save $7.5 million against the cap by cutting him, so he's not guaranteed a spot. Staying healthy has always been a primary concern for Cameron, who could return to TE1 status under Gase if he remains a Dolphin and can avoid injury in 2016.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron lands on injury report

Thu, 05 Nov 2015 14:42:13 -0800

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 5, after he injured his hamstring this week. Cameron's status for Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills is unknown. TE Dion Sims would step in as the primary tight end if Cameron doesn't play this weekend, and TEs Brandon Williams or Jake Stoneburner would fill in as the second tight end.

Fantasy Tip: It would be a surprise to see Cameron ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) miss the game this weekend, but keep an eye on him in case he becomes questionable. If he does play, he's a midrange tight end option on FantasyScore against the Bills.

Dolphins | Miami wants more two-TE sets

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 16:21:38 -0700

Miami Dolphins TEs Jordan Cameron and Dion Sims may receive additional playing time moving forward, because interim head coach Dan Campbell would like to use two-tight end sets more often on offense.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has been more involved in the passing game than Sims ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) this season and would be the more attractive fantasy option if both players see more time. Sims likely will be used more as a blocker and would not be a fantasy option most weeks.

Dolphins | Jordan Cameron could be limited

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 15:03:45 -0700

Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron (groin), who is questionable for Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills, could have his workload scaled back this weekend. He has seven catches for 135 yards in the first two weeks. TE Jake Stoneburner could be the backup tight end with TE Dion Sims (concussion) doubtful for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Cameron ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is in the upper tier of fantasy tight ends, but this weekend could be a different story. The risk of him being limited or not playing altogether is too big of one to take in daily leagues.
