Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans is expected to play more on an island in 2015 as the "X" receiver in Tampa Bay's new offense, which is the same role offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter created for Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones during Koetter's time with that organization. He said Monday, June 29, that the QB carousell of Josh McCown and Mike Glennon last year held him back, too, so he is excited about a potential breakout with QB Jameis Winston.
Fantasy Tip: Evans posted huge numbers last season, finishing with over 1,000 yards while scoring 12 touchdowns. If he can improve on those numbers he will be a Top 5 fantasy option at his position. Look for him to fly off the board rather early on draft day.
Fri, 05 Jun 2015 12:12:32 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has received reps with first-team offense during offseason workouts but is expected to be the No. 2 quarterback for the team.
Thu, 28 May 2015 21:26:10 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon said he is happy with the team and won't ask for a trade during the offseason.
Fantasy Tip: With rookie Jameis Winston expected to start, Glennon will be relegated to a backup role. Even if Glennon is forced into the starting lineup at some point, he would be a low-end QB2 at best.
Wed, 25 Mar 2015 11:37:04 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has been a topic of conversation from other teams checking on his availability this offseason, according to head coach Lovie Smith.
Fantasy Tip: Teams looking for a starting option could consider trading for Glennon since the price likely would not be too much. Glennon should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback next season if he is able to win a starting job.
Tue, 24 Feb 2015 18:19:28 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon is a player the Cleveland Browns are believed to be interested in, according to two league sources. There haven't been any formal offers, but if the Buccaneers are willing to deal Glennon he is a name worth watching.
Fantasy Tip: A move to Cleveland wouldn't do much for Glennon's fantasy appeal, as the team appears likely to lose TE Jordan Cameron to free agency while also dealing with the looming suspension of WR Josh Gordon. The receiver corps might actually be worse in Cleveland than Tampa Bay, and that's saying a lot.
Wed, 18 Feb 2015 10:20:36 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has what it takes to develop into the team's franchise quarterback, according to head coach Lovie Smith. "Yeah, I think you can definitely say that Mike can be the quarterback that can play at a high level in this league," Smith said when asked if Glennon can be a franchise quarterback. "And I mean, we only have one quarterback on our roster. If you look at the comments I've made about him, yes, I think he can be that guy." General manager Jason Licht also expressed confidence in Glennon.
Fantasy Tip: The Bucs are likely covering themselves in case their No. 1 overall pick of a quarterback doesn't play out the way they want it to. Glennon still does have something left, however, if Tampa chooses to go that route. Either way, whoever the Bucs use as their starter to open the 2015 season won't be much more than a midrange QB2 with some upside.
Fri, 13 Feb 2015 19:11:05 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon will likely open the 2015 season as the starter until whichever quarterback the team drafts with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft is ready to take over, according to former Indianapolis Colts general manager Bill Polian.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon has struggled in his first two years in the NFL, completing just 58.8% of his passes in 19 games. Even he does open the year as the starter, he isn't worth drafting.
Mon, 08 Dec 2014 17:26:09 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon was called the quarterback of the future by head coach Lovie Smith earlier this year, and after the team's loss to the Carolina Panthers Sunday, Dec. 7, Smith said that the team will look at a lot of things during the last three games. "If there is someone we feel like we want to see a little bit more of, we'll do that," Smith said "Right after a tough loss like this you don't make those kinds of decisions, but we'll start that process."
Fantasy Tip: It makes sense that the team would see what they have in Glennon now that they are eliminated from playoff competition. Even if he does earn the starting nod, Glennon is too much of an unknown to trust at FantasyScore.
Tue, 04 Nov 2014 15:36:10 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh McCown will start Week 10, according to QB Mike Glennon.
Fantasy Tip: It's still not worth starting McCown ($3,700) unless you want to plug him in your FantasyScore lineup to get value at other positions.
Mon, 03 Nov 2014 13:55:39 -0800
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QBs Mike Glennon and Josh McCown are options to start in Week 10, but head coach Lovie Smith said he will not decide on the starter until later it the week. Smith said there are a lot of factors he needs to consider before naming the starter.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon has not played bad since receiving the starting job but has thrown an interception in each of his last five games. McCown has been out of the lineup because of a thumb injury but could return to the field. Neither quarterback is a strong starting option this week.
Mon, 27 Oct 2014 13:01:00 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon will remain the starting job even though head coach Lovie Smith said the team has two quarterbacks capable for starting.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon has played pretty well since becoming the starter but probably should not be a starting option in most leagues this week.
Wed, 22 Oct 2014 12:45:08 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QBs Josh McCown and Mike Glennon are waiting to see who will be starting Week 8. Head coach Lovie Smith said he will see how they do this week before making a decision.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon will likely still be the starter for Week 8 at least. He's a cheap FantasyScore option at $4,200 with a decent matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
Wed, 22 Oct 2014 10:12:03 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon is expected to be the starting quarterback in Week 8.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon has played well since taking over the starting job a few weeks ago. Glennon could be a nice starting option for owners on FantasyScore looking to save some money since he only costs $4,200 and will be facing the Minnesota Vikings.
Wed, 15 Oct 2014 13:08:30 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon received a vote of confidence from head coach Lovie Smith Wednesday, Oct. 15. "That came a little sooner than we thought. His play, he's played well. Yeah, we'd like to have a couple of plays (back). But looking at the overall picture on what Mike Glennon has done, he's given us a lot of hope. As far as our relationship, 'Mike, you have a big role in leading us back.' And he's accepting that challenge," Smith said. However, Smith didn't say that Glennon will necessarily remain the starting quarterback when QB Josh McCown (thumb) returns to full health.
Mon, 29 Sep 2014 12:20:02 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh McCown (thumb) may not receive his starting job back, but the team has not decided if he will start when he returns from his injury or if Mike Glennon will keep the job, according to head coach Lovie Smith. Smith said the team will go with whichever quarterback gives them the best chance to win.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon had a solid performance in Week 4 and could keep the job as long as he is productive. Glennon and McCown are not great options to use most weeks, and owners probably have better quarterbacks available.
Sat, 27 Sep 2014 15:46:49 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has a good chance to start for the rest of the season, in the opinion of beat writer Greg Auman.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon has a big arm, and this could pay dividends for WR Vincent Jackson the rest of the way. Glennon doesn't have much fantasy value at this time, but he could become a matchup play.
Fri, 26 Sep 2014 21:25:43 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon remains on track to start in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers with QB Josh McCown (thumb) listed as a doubtful.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon could be a solid low-priced QB2 in FantasyScore at $5100 (or 10.2 percent of the salary cap), freeing up salary to spread across other positions.
Thu, 25 Sep 2014 13:45:20 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh McCown (thumb) has been ruled out for Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to head coach Lovie Smith. QB Mike Glennon will start.
Fantasy Tip: McCown could return in Week 5 depending on how he responds to treatment. It's wise to avoid Glennon this weekend in all formats.
Thu, 25 Sep 2014 13:05:00 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh McCown (thumb) is unlikely to need surgery on his injured right thumb. McCown is doing therapy on his thumb, and he's focused on regaining strength. He's not ruling himself out for Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the team is saying he'll miss at least one start. QB Mike Glennon is expected to start against the Steelers this weekend.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon is a cheap option at FantasyScore for $5,100 (10.2% of cap) against the Steelers, but you can probably find better options.
Fri, 19 Sep 2014 08:36:03 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh McCown (thumb) doesn't yet have a defined timetable to return, head coach Lovie Smith said. Smith also didn't address whether QB Mike Glennon would replace McCown whenever the incumbent returns.
Fantasy Tip: Neither quarterback warrants much fantasy consideration, but the loss of the veteran McCown could hurt Vincent Jackson, Mike Evans and Bobby Rainey.
Fri, 19 Sep 2014 00:15:20 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith said it is too soon to tell how long QB Josh McCown (thumb) may be out following his thumb injury suffered Thursday, Sept. 18, in a 56-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Smith also didn't address whether or not QB Mike Glennon might get a chance to start at quarterback even if McCown is healthy.
Fantasy Tip: Neither quarterback warrants much fantasy consideration, but the loss of the veteran McCown could hurt Vincent Jackson and Bobby Rainey's fantasy potential.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh McCown is likely to be the starting quarterback when the season opens. QB Mike Glennon has been pegged as the quarterback of the future and could still win the job.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed to terms on a two-year deal with free-agent QB Josh McCown (Bears) Wednesday, March 11, according to his agent. Financial terms were not given.
Fantasy Tip: Reports earlier this offseason suggested that the Lovie Smith regime wasn't that high on Mike Glennon under center. This signing reinfornces that idea. Expect McCown and Glennon to compete for starting duties this fall. McCown, if named the starter, represents low-end QB1 value in the right matchups, but he'd be better served as your fantasy backup.

Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater, Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel, Central Florida QB Blake Bortles and Fresno State QB Derek Carr could all be available at that spot. Smith said it's too early to tell if QB Mike Glennon is the answer long term at quarterback.
Fantasy Tip: Remember, the previous GM and head coach in Tampa were responsible for drafting Glennon. Smith and his new staff don't seem to be as upbeat on him. Keep that in mind if the Bucs draft another signal caller and Glennon struggles in his sophomore season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano believes QB Mike Glennon is the long-term answer at quarterback for the team. "I think this is a guy that certainly, as long as he continues on this trajectory, is a guy you'd love to have as a quarterback for a long time," Schiano said. Glennon has excelled in his rookie year at protecting the football and completing passes downfield. He leads all rookies with 13 touchdown passes. The Bucs have won three straight and Glennon has thrown at least one touchdown in eight straight games, the longest streak for a rookie passer since Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson did it in nine straight last year.
Fantasy Tip: Glennon has looked very calm and collected in the face of a lost season for the Bucs in his rookie season. That's been pretty impressive. He's a low-end QB1 and a solid backup option to have.
Mon, 25 Nov 2013 07:32:31 -0800

Mon, 30 Sep 2013 09:55:17 -0700
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman was not on the sidelines during the team's Week 4 loss because head coach Greg Schiano said it was a "mutual decision." Freeman didn't dress out and watched the game from a suite with the other inactive players. QB Dan Orlovsky was the backup to QB Mike Glennon against the Arizona Cardinals.
Fantasy Tip: It's gone from bad to worse for Freeman in Tampa. It's very clear now that he has no future with the team and virtually zero chance of winning the starting job back. It's now just a matter of if the Bucs can find a trade partner or if they outright release him.
