Cardinals | Arizona agrees to terms with Mike Glennon

Tue, 13 Mar 2018 18:02:53 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon, who is expected to be released by the team Wednesday, March 14, agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday, March 13.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon will serve as the primary backup to injury-prone Sam Bradford, meaning he is a good bet to start some games in 2018. Neither move should stop Arizona from drafting a quarterback. Glennon will have little fantasy value if/when he takes over for an injured Bradford.

Bears | Bucs interested in reunion with Mike Glennon?

Fri, 23 Feb 2018 12:43:28 -0800

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to keep a close eye on Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon, who is expected to be released this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon was drafted by the Bucs in 2013 and played with them until landing a big contract from the Bears last offseason, but he fizzled out quickly and was replaced by Mitchell Trubisky. With Jameis Winston reportedly under investigation by the NFL for off-field behavior, Glennon could be in line to start the first few games in Tampa Bay if he goes back. Either way, he remains off the fantasy radar.

Bears | Mike Glennon as good as gone?

Thu, 01 Feb 2018 22:20:58 -0800

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon is expected to play elsewhere in 2018 according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson, who put the odds of Glennon returning at "virtually nil."

Fantasy Tip: Glennon leaving after one season was all but guaranteed when the Bears spent the third overall pick on Mitchell Trubisky for financial reasons, but Glennon didn't even make it a hard decision by lasting just four games as a starter. Best case for Glennon would likely be to join a team to compete for a starting gig, though nothing he showed in 2017 suggests he's capable.

Bears | Mike Glennon's job in doubt?

Sat, 30 Sep 2017 20:23:11 -0700

Chicago Bears head coach John Fox said he would "evaluate everything," including QB Mike Glennon, ahead of the Week 5 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon didn't do himself any favors with a disastrous Week 4 outing, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Mitchell Trubisky have a chance to start. Even if he is given the reins to the offense, Trubisky wouldn't need to be owned outside of keeper leagues.

Bears | Mike Glennon has disastrous night

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 21:33:35 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon completed 21 of 33 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football. He also turned the ball over four times, throwing two interceptions and losing a pair of fumbles.

Fantasy Tip: With 11 days before their next game it seems like a prime opportunity for the Bears to make the switch from Glennon to Mitchell Trubisky. It wasn't all Glennon's fault -- his receivers left some plays on the field, and his second fumble was squarely on the center -- but his interceptions were terrible. If you've been carrying Glennon on your roster for some reason you shouldn't do it any longer.

Bears | Mike Glennon passes for 101 yards

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 17:03:53 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon completed 15 of his 22 pass attempts for 101 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 3 overtime win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon didn't do anything statistically, but his team picked up the win. He is still not cemented as the starting quarterback in Chicago and his fantasy value is rather minimal heading into Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.

Bears | Mike Glennon surpasses 300-yard mark

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 13:17:06 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon went 31-for-45 for 301 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon may not keep the starting job much longer but has posted decent numbers over the first two games. He will be facing the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3 and should be avoided in all leagues.

Bears | Mike Glennon throws for 213 yards, TD

Sun, 10 Sep 2017 15:29:55 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon completed 26 of his 40 pass attempts for 213 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 1 game against the Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon spread the ball around to eight receivers and did a fairly decent job against the defending NFC champions. He remains more of a No. 2 fantasy option heading into Week 2 at Tampa Bay, although he might play with a little extra incentive facing his former team.

Bears | Mike Glennon has solid outing

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 13:56:23 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon went 11-for-18 for 134 yards and one touchdown in the preseason game against the Tennessee Titans Sunday, Aug. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon will enter the season as the starting quarterback but may lose the job at some point during the season. He likely also lost Cameron Meredith for the season, which may hurt his value. Glennon probably should only be considered a low-end No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Bears | Mike Glennon will start Saturday

Wed, 23 Aug 2017 20:08:19 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon will start the team's third preseason game Saturday, August 26, against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: After a disastrous preseason debut, Glennon bounced back with a solid showing his last time out and will look to keep it going in this one to lock up the starting job. All indications are that he indeed will be under center for Week 1 of the regular season, but he's not someone to really pursue in drafts. Rookie Mitchell Trubisky might dethrone him before long anyway.

Bears | Mike Glennon the strong favorite

Wed, 16 Aug 2017 08:06:31 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon is the strong favorite to open the season as the starter based on everything the team has said, in the opinion of beat writer Brad Biggs.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon has very little upside in the fantasy world, and he could just be a placeholder for Mitchell Trubisky. Glennon should be avoided except maybe in leagues where you start two QBs.

Bears | Mike Glennon still the starter?

Thu, 10 Aug 2017 20:44:35 -0700

Chicago Bears head coach John Fox said Thursday, Aug. 10, that he won't change QB Mike Glennon's position on the quarterback depth chart after one preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon had a rough preseason debut, but he was going up against a solid Denver defense. He still has to be considered the favorite to open the year as the starter, but he might not even reach QB2 status.

Bears | Ugly line for Mike Glennon

Thu, 10 Aug 2017 18:22:27 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon completed two of his eight pass attempts for 20 yards and had an interception returned for a touchdown in a preseason game against the Denver Broncos Thursday, Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon is expected to open the year as the starter, but he might not hold on to the gig the entire season. Even as the starter, he is no more than a low-end QB2 option.

Bears | Cameron Meredith building chemistry with QB

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 19:42:09 -0700

Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith is building chemistry with QB Mike Glennon and appears to be Glennon's favorite targets during the early part of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Meredith is coming off a very successful 2016 season when he recorded 888 yards and four touchdowns and should be one of the starting receivers for the Bears this season. It is good that he is working well with Glennon since Glennon is expected to be the starting quarterback. Meredith has a chance to be a No. 4 receiver in fantasy leagues since he should see plenty of targets.

Bears | GM says Mike Glennon is starter

Wed, 26 Jul 2017 11:33:05 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon is the team's starting quarterback, according to general manager Ryan Pace.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon signed with the Bears this offseason and will be the starter for least at the beginning of the season even though the team drafted Mitchell Trubisky. There is a decent chance that Glennon could lose his job during the season if the team is not fighting for a playoff spot, so owners in all leagues probably should avoid him during drafts.

Fri, 30 Jun 2017 12:22:19 -0700

Chicago Bears first-round QB Mitchell Trubisky threw his support behind Mike Glennon in an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio on Friday, June 30. "Mike's a great dude. He's an absolute pro. We've got a great quarterback room with him, Mark Sanchez and Connor Shaw. So we've all been helping each other compete and getting better every day. But Mike's the starter, and I'm behind him all the way," Trubisky said.

Bears | Mike Glennon to remain starter

Thu, 27 Apr 2017 21:16:00 -0700

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon will remain the team's starting quarterback, according to GM Ryan Pace.

Fantasy Tip: This was pretty much a given, even with all the Bears gave up to draft Mitchell Trubisky. Glennon signed a big deal this offseason so it makes sense to let him play while the rookie is brought along slowly. Still, Trubisky's presence means Glennon's long-term future is elsewhere, and if the Bears fall flat in 2017 they could make a switch. That creates significant uncertainty for Glennon's value, which didn't exist just hours earlier.

Fri, 10 Mar 2017 18:31:25 -0800

Chicago Bears QB Mike Glennon said he has grown physically and mentally and is eager to show what he can do on the field.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon is going to be given the chance to run the offense in Chicago, but he is unproven as a starter and won't have a ton of weapons to throw to. He is a midrange QB2 candidate for 2017.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon is close to finalizing a three-year deal with the Chicago Bears, which would pay him $14.5 million per season.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon would enter the '17 campaign as the starter, but they'll have to fortify some weapons around him. He's a midrange QB2 option for now.

Mon, 06 Mar 2017 07:07:38 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon has interest from the San Francisco 49ers.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon is a big dude with a good arm. He had a solid season as a rookie in 2013 with 2,608 yards, 19 scores and nine picks in 13 games. He would be a midrange QB2 in fantasy if he lands a starting gig.

Sun, 05 Mar 2017 13:17:28 -0800

The Chicago Bears are believed to have the strongest interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon and could be considered the leading candidate to sign him.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon should receive interest from a few teams and appears to have a good chance to land a starting job in 2017. He played well as a rookie but has received a limited amount of snaps over the last few seasons. He probably should only be considered a low-end No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Jets | NYJ to come hard after Mike Glennon

Sat, 04 Mar 2017 15:35:43 -0800

Impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon (Buccaneers) is expected to be pursued heavily by the New York Jets when the new league year begins Thursday, March 9, according to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline.

Fantasy Tip: Pauline states the vast majority of the league personnel believe Glennon will sign with the Chicago Bears instead. The Jets are in the midst of a massive roster overhaul, whereas the Bears may be more enticing to Glennon with receivers Kevin White and Cameron Meredith as well as Jordan Howard in the backfield. While he would represent an upgrade in either city, Jameis Winston's backup would be no more than a middling fantasy QB2 option in 2017.

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 15:10:10 -0800

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have offered to make impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon the highest-paid backup quarterback in the NFL. Glennon is expected to hit the free-agent market with a possibility to start but is evaluating each team because he believes an unstable coaching situation could hurt his chances to succeed.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon probably would look for a starting job this offseason but could consider re-signing with the Buccaneers depending on his options. Owners in most leagues probably should avoid Glennon even if he finds a starting job.

Bears | Chicago may consider Mike Glennon

Wed, 01 Mar 2017 13:03:45 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon is expected to receive interest from the Chicago Bears during free agency.

Fantasy Tip: It appears that Glennon will receive interest from a few teams and has a chance to be a starting quarterback in 2017. He had some success in his rookie season but has played in only eight games since 2014. Owners in all leagues probably should avoid him even if he is a starting quarterback for a team.

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 15:16:32 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon is expected to receive interest from the New York Jets this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: The Jets will be looking for a starting quarterback this offseason and could consider Glennon depending on his asking price. Glennon has not received much playing time over the last few seasons but had some success when he started as a rookie. Glennon would not be more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback if he signs with the Jets.

Browns | Jimmy Garoppolo top target for Browns?

Sun, 19 Feb 2017 12:17:40 -0800

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo appears to be the top target for Cleveland Browns this offseason, in the opinion of The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot. The Browns could consider quarterbacks like Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo and Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon if they are not able to acquire Garoppolo.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns have two first-round picks in the 2017 draft, so they should have the pieces to move if they want to acquire Garoppolo. He played well when he served as the starter for the Patriots this past season but has not receive a lot of playing time during his career. Garoppolo would only be a No. 2 quarterback if he is traded to the Cleveland.

Browns | Cleveland unlikely to pursue Mike Glennon

Wed, 15 Feb 2017 11:43:59 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon probably will not be a target for the Cleveland Browns this offseason, in the opinion of ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns probably will look at Jimmy Garoppolo and Tyrod Taylor this offseason, but Glennon could receive interest from teams looking for a starting quarterback. He has some success early in his career but has played in only two games in the last two seasons. Owners in all leagues can avoid Glennon in drafts no matter where he signs.

Jets | NYJ 'seem' to have eyes on Mike Glennon

Sat, 04 Feb 2017 15:20:01 -0800

Impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon may be the most likely candidate to fill the New York Jets' need at quarterback, according to NJ Advance Media's Connor Hughes.

Fantasy Tip: ESPN's Adam Schefter has estimated Glennon's market would be in the $13 to 15 million per year neighborhood, which would put him on the low end for starting quarterbacks. He would be an upgrade over what the Jets have had at the position lately and give them someone slightly more seasoned than what they currently have (Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg). If New York makes it happen, Glennon would be a serviceable fantasy QB2.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon may be too expensive for Bucs

Wed, 01 Feb 2017 14:47:48 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht indicated the team would like to re-sign impending free-agent QB Mike Glennon but may be too expensive to sign since he likely will receive interest from teams looking for a starting quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon was a starting quarterback earlier in his career and probably will be able to find a starting job in free agency. Owners should keep an eye on the situation to see which team he joins, but he should only be considered a low-end No. 2 quarterback in deeper leagues at this point.

Wed, 03 Aug 2016 10:35:49 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has not received trade interest from the Dallas Cowboys at this point, according to a source.

Buccaneers | 50-50 chance for Mike Glennon trade?

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 10:50:33 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has a 50-50 chance of being traded before the NFL Draft, according to Mark Cook of Pewter Report. Cook noted the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets as the two most likely landing spots for Glennon if he were to be traded. Cook also speculated that general manager Jason Licht could pull the trigger on a trade if a second-round pick or a low-end second round pick and a fourth-round pick is offered.

Fantasy Tip: Glennon would almost certainly be the backup in Cleveland, and could start in New York if Fitzpatrick is not re-signed. For now, he's on the outside looking in as far as fantasy relevance is concerned.

Jets | Mike Glennon of interest to New York

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 16:33:26 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has drawn interest from the New York Jets, who have inquired about Tampa Bay's backup quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: The extent and context of the Jets and Bucs talks is unclear, but New York is one of a couple teams left with a question mark at quarterback right now. It's unlikely that they would trade Muhammad Wilkerson for Glennon, but we'll see what happens as the draft inches closer. As stated earlier, though, Glennon is not a starting fantasy quarterback.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon could be extended

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 16:26:13 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has been the subject of trade talks in recent weeks, but he could also receive an extension from the Buccaneers if a trade does not work out. Tampa Bay has already discussed a two-year extension for Glennon that would likely be worth at least $6 million per year.

Fantasy Tip: The Buccaneers are playing the waiting game with Glennon. If he is to be traded, it may not be until the weekend of the NFL Draft. There are a select few teams that Glennon could start on, like the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, for example. He still won't be worth starting on fantasy squads, though, no matter where he plays.

Broncos | Denver not rushing QB decision

Wed, 23 Mar 2016 10:03:45 -0700

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak said the Broncos are not in a rush to add another quarterback this offseason. Kubiak said QB Mark Sanchez will learn the team's offense quickly because of his familiarity with the verbiage during his days in college, and Sanchez has been at the team facility offseason since he signed. Free-agent QBs Robert Griffin III (Redskins) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (Jets) are options, as well as trading for San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick, Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer or Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon.

Fantasy Tip: Denver will likely bring in another QB either through the draft, in free agency or via trade to compete with Sanchez for the starting role. At this point, whoever is under center in Week 1 for the Broncos will surely be more of a fantasy backup.

Buccaneers | Mike Glennon a trade target

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 12:16:51 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon has drawn interest from several teams, according to general manager Jason Licht. Licht said trade discussions could continue until the NFL Draft. Licht also refuted a claim that the Buccaneers were demanding a No. 1 draft pick in exchange for Glennon. The New York Jets are just one team that has inquired about Glennon.

Fantasy Tip: Desperate times call for desperate measures, apparently, as Glennon has done little in his young NFL career to prove he deserves starting status. If he is traded and does start, he's still comfortably in backup fantasy quarterback territory.

Broncos | Mike Glennon a trade target for Denver?

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 15:48:17 -0800

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon is being mentioned as a possible trade target for the Denver Broncos after they lost free-agent QB Brock Osweiler to the Houston Texans on Wednesday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: Osweiler's departure means the Broncos will be linked with just about every available free-agent quarterback or any signal-caller who has supposedly been on the trade block recently. Glennon would be a serviceable fallback option if the Broncos chose to go in that direction, but Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III are better fits in head coach Gary Kubiak's offense. Regardless of which one winds up in Denver, none of them figure to be anything more than a QB2 for fantasy purposes.

Buccaneers | Mike Evans feels he was held back

Mon, 29 Jun 2015 19:00:33 -0700

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans is expected to play more on an island in 2015 as the "X" receiver in Tampa Bay's new offense, which is the same role offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter created for Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones during Koetter's time with that organization. He said Monday, June 29, that the QB carousell of Josh McCown and Mike Glennon last year held him back, too, so he is excited about a potential breakout with QB Jameis Winston.

Fantasy Tip: Evans posted huge numbers last season, finishing with over 1,000 yards while scoring 12 touchdowns. If he can improve on those numbers he will be a Top 5 fantasy option at his position. Look for him to fly off the board rather early on draft day.
