Phillies | Three Phils out Wednesday

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 06:52:42 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche, SS Freddy Galvis and OF Peter Bourjos (shoulder) are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 27. OF Tyler Goeddel, 2B Taylor Featherston and OF Jimmy Paredes are hitting sixth, seventh and eighth.

Fantasy Tip: You're really trying to catch lightning in a bottle if you're looking for a basement play here. Paredes has the most upside because of his work in Baltimore last year. However, he has a .207-2-8 line in 82 at-bats. He faces lefty Adam Conley today and is the only of the three to have some fantasy merit.

Phillies | Cody Asche sitting vs. Miami

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 12:18:29 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. OF Jimmy Paredes is starting in right field and batting sixth against Miami Marlins SP Wei-Yin Chen Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Asche is best left to cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues at this point. He's returned from injury to post 14 runs, four home runs, 17 RBI and a .244/.317/.433 slash line over 40 games. It's hardly target-worthy production in most fantasy leagues. Paredes has only received 77 plate appearances this season and owns a .233/.273/.397 slash line. He's best avoided in all fantasy formats Wednesday.

Phillies | Two Phillies to soon patrol outfield

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 08:34:07 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Aaron Altherr (wrist) and OF Nick Williams are expected to be called up in the next few weeks. Altherr has a couple of weeks left on a rehab assignment, and Williams has hit safely in 26 of 28 games at Class AAA Lehigh Valley. OF Peter Bourjos and OF Cody Asche have the potential to lose their spots.

Fantasy Tip: Altherr had a .232-5-22 line with six steals in 142 at-bats last season, but he's coming off of wrist surgery. Williams has a .289-8-44 line at Triple-A. Neither are projected to make huge impacts, but both are NL-only depth options if you're looking ahead for potential callups.

Phillies | Cameron Rupp climbs into cleanup spot

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 12:34:11 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies C Cameron Rupp is batting fourth against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Monday, July 18. Phillies OF Cody Asche is batting sixth Monday.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a significant swap Monday with a daunting matchup against Fernandez, but if Rupp begins to see more regular starts in the cleanup spot, it's a nice boon to his fantasy stock. View the backstop as a viable starter in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only leagues. Asche is providing enough cross-category production to be a low-end starter in deep mixed leagues.

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 17:18:33 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche is out of the lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Anderson Saturday, July 9. OF Tyler Goeddel will replace Asche in left field and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Goeddel is batting .221 this year and can be ignored by fantasy owners.

Phillies | Four regulars return to Phils' lineup

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 07:50:54 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche, C Cameron Rupp (elbow), 1B Ryan Howard and SS Freddy Galvis are back in the starting lineup versus Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura Sunday, July 3.

Fantasy Tip: All four players were benched versus left-handed SP Danny Duffy Saturday, July 2, after appearing in the lineup Friday, July 1, although Rupp's absence appeared to be injury-related. Rupp is 6-for-13 with two doubles and an RBI in the past seven days, while Asche is 7-for-19 with four doubles and seven RBI over the same span, so both players should be on the radar of daily fantasy gamers looking for inexpensive sources of offense. Howard should continue to be avoided in all fantasy formats.

Phillies | Several Phils regulars resting Saturday

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 10:52:28 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard, SS Freddy Galvis, OF Cody Asche and C Cameron Rupp are not in the starting lineup versus Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Saturday, July 2. INF Andres Blanco will bat third and play shortstop, 1B Tommy Joseph will bat fifth and play first base, C Carlos Ruiz will bat sixth and start behind the plate and OF Tyler Goeddel will bat seventh and play in left field.

Fantasy Tip: Joseph is 3-for-20 at the plate over the past week, while Goeddel is batting just .182 since June 1. Both players should be avoided in all fantasy formats. Blanco and Ruiz should be viewed strictly as inexpensive fliers in DFS.

Phillies | Cody Asche drives in three runs

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 18:58:22 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI in a victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks Wednesday, June 29.

Fantasy Tip: Asche is 12-for-30 (.400) at the plate since June 21, and is batting .289 since returning from the disabled list earlier this month. He should be viewed as a productive source of cap relief in DFS.
