Phillies | Jeff Francoeur, Andres Blanco starting

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 12:47:13 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur and SS Andres Blanco are starting against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Tuesday, June 23. Francoeur is playing left field and hitting fifth, while Blanco is starting at third base and hitting seventh. 3B Maikel Franco moves over to first base, while 1B Ryan Howard serves as the designated hitter. OF Cody Asche will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) and Blanco ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) are desperation sleeper plays on FantasyScore. Francoeur is 4-for-20 (.200) in his career against Sabathia. Franco ($4,900, 9.8% of cap), who hit two home runs last night, continues to be an attractive daily commodity at his price, especially while facing a lefty that has struggled against righty sticks this year.

Phillies | Jeff Francoeur starting vs. St. Louis

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 12:11:29 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur is starting in left field and batting fifth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Tyler Lyons Friday, June 19. OF Cody Asche is not in the starting lineup Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has had just 39 at-bats in June, but he sports a .308 batting average with three doubles, a home run and eight RBI. He also has the handedness advantage against Lyons. View Francoeur as a potential source of cap relief for FantasyScore contests Friday.

Phillies | Cody Asche not playing

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 10:00:04 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche is not in the starting lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates SP A.J. Burnett Sunday, June 14. OF Jeff Francoeur will be the starting left fielder and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Asche ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) has been struggling at the plate this month, so he is receiving a day off. Francoeur ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has seven hits and RBI over the last six games and could be a cheaper option to consider on FantasyScore.

Phillies | Jeff Francoeur starting Wednesday

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 09:10:56 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur is starting in right field and hitting sixth against Cincinnati Reds SP Jon Moscot Wednesday, June 10. OF Cody Asche is sitting the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Francoeur ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) still has some pop but is too inconsistent to consider other than once a blue moon with a great pitching matchup in daily games. He's facing a young pitcher making just his second major league start today, but Francoeur still isn't attractive other than a desperation lotto ticket as a deep sleeper.

Phillies | Cody Asche batting sixth

Fri, 29 May 2015 11:55:02 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Cody Asche is batting sixth in the lineup Friday, May 29, against the Colorado Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: Asche is starting right away and hopefully he can raise that batting average. Asche is hitting .245 on the season with two home runs. You may want to leave Asche alone for one game or two until he can show some skills with the bat.

Phillies | Grady Sizemore cut

Fri, 29 May 2015 11:26:18 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Grady Sizemore was designated for assignment Friday, May 29, to make room for 3B Cody Asche on the roster.

Fantasy Tip: The makeover continues and it comes as no surprise to see Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) bounced from the roster. Sizemore had a .245 average but drove in just six runs this season. He could land with another team, but for now he's FantasyScore poison. Drop him from your lineup.

Phillies | Cody Asche recalled

Fri, 29 May 2015 08:59:08 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Cody Asche was recalled from Class AAA Lehigh Valley Friday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Asche has been playing left field but will have 3B eligibility on FantasyScore. He could be worth a low-end flyer in good matchups.

Phillies | Maikel Franco to start at 3B

Fri, 15 May 2015 11:19:57 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco, who was recalled from Class AAA Lehigh Valley (Pa.) Friday, May 15, will be the team's starting second baseman after the Phillies sent 3B Cody Asche down to the minors earlier this week in order to convert to a left fielder. "This was a baseball decision based on Maikel's development and performance," general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said in a statement. "We believe he is ready for the next step." Franco was hitting .355 with three home runs and 24 RBI in 33 games for Lehigh Valley before being called up. The Phillies retain his rights until 2022 before he can become a free agent by waiting until Friday to promote him.

Fantasy Tip: Franco will initially be a relatively cheap third base commodity at FantasyScore, and it's tempting to immediately throw him in there against Arizona Diamondbacks starter Chase Anderson in his season debut Friday night as a value play.

Phillies | Cody Asche optioned out

Mon, 11 May 2015 22:11:21 -0700

The Philadelphia Phillies optioned 3B Cody Asche to Class AAA Lehigh Valley (Pa.) Monday, May 11. He will transition from third base to learn the left field position.

Fantasy Tip: With Asche farmed out, prospect Maikel Franco will get a look with the big club. He could be a cheap source of power if he gets off to a strong start with the big club.

Phillies | Cody Asche sitting out Saturday

Sat, 09 May 2015 12:42:26 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Cody Asche is not in the starting lineup against the New York Mets Saturday, May 9. INF Andres Blanco will fill in at the hot corner.

Fantasy Tip: Asche ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is out of the lineup due to the team facing a left-handed starter (Jon Niese). Blanco ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has little fantasy value and better options can be found in FantasyScore for a comparable price.
