49ers | Marcus Lattimore continues to improve

Tue, 23 Jul 2013 18:25:19 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore (knee) said Tuesday, July 23, that his knee is feeling better every day as he continues to rehab at the team's practice facility. "Honestly, I feel the improvement every day just in technique-wise. You get the running down, then you start agility, then it translates to football after that. I honestly feel better every day," Lattimore said.

Fantasy Tip: Lattimore might still be months away from taking to the field and drawing contact. At this point, he is only worth fantasy consideration in long-term keeper formats.

49ers | Marcus Lattimore to miss training camp

Fri, 28 Jun 2013 19:28:05 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore (knee) said RB Frank Gore reached out to him when he was injured at the University of South Carolina, and now the two are teammates. Lattimore said Friday, June 28, that he is unlikely to be ready for training camp, although he has been doing sprints and working with the training staff. Lattimore indicated a midseason return could be possible.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Lattimore expects to start out on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list. For fantasy owners in redraft leagues, there is no sense wasting a roster spot on Lattimore, but those in long-term keeper formats who have ample space, he is worth stashing due to his potential. But keep in mind the possibility exists that he doesn't play a down in 2013.

49ers | Marcus Lattimore talking to Frank Gore about rehab

Fri, 31 May 2013 16:08:14 -0700

San Francisco 49ers rookie RB Marcus Lattimore (knee) has spoken with 49ers RB Frank Gore about recovering from a major knee injury. Like Lattimore, Gore endured two major knee reconstructions while in college. As previously reported, Lattimore understands the team will take caution with his recovery pace, but he hopes to play this fall.

Fantasy Tip: The 49ers have little reason to rush Lattimore back given the depth of their backfield. He holds little to no fantasy value for 2013 but has a bright future in full-retention keeper formats.

49ers | Marcus Lattimore would be fine with not playing in 2013

Fri, 10 May 2013 16:06:01 -0700

San Francisco 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore (knee) said he would be fine with sitting out the entire 2013 season if that is what the team thinks is best. Head coach Jim Harbaugh said Lattimore's anterior cruciate ligament looks good, but the team wants him to slow down on his cutting drills.

Fantasy Tip: Lattimore likely will not have much fantasy value if he does make it on the active roster this season because he is coming back from a major knee injury. Lattimore probably should not be a target in drafts this season.

The San Francisco 49ers have selected South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore with the 131st overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
