Mon, 10 Mar 2014 15:55:33 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi is working on a new split-fingered pitch that acts like a changeup with late downward movement. He struggled to control the pitch during his outing Monday, March 10. Odorizzi limited damage, though, as he remains firmly in competition with SPs Cesar Ramos, Erik Bedard and Nathan Karns for the final rotation spot. SPs Taylor Jordan, Tanner Roark, Ross Ohlendorf, Nathan Karns and Sammy Solis are other options to compete with Detwiler. He could also serve as a lefty reliever out of the bullpen.
