Twins | Danny Santana has three-hit game

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 22:48:31 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Danny Santana went 3-for-5 with a double and run scored Tuesday, April 26, againt the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Santana has four hits and a pair of runs scored in eight at-bats since returning to the lineup. It appears safe to plug him back into the active lineup in all AL-only fantasy leagues and DFS play.

Twins | Danny Santana batting leadoff Tuesday

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 13:58:09 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Danny Santana is batting leadoff Tuesday, April 26, against the Cleveland Indians and SP Cody Anderson.

Fantasy Tip: The first question is why the Twins would put a .200 hitter at the top of the lineup, but the Twins are shuffling the deck chairs to find a lineup that hits. Santana should get plenty of chances and he did have a starting job two years ago. AL owners may like Santana's chances, as will daily owners because of his lineup status.

Twins | Danny Santana returns to lineup

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 15:29:45 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS/OF Danny Santana (hamstring) is in the lineup starting in center field and batting ninth Monday, April 25, opposite Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar.

Fantasy Tip: Santana is out to a dreadful 2-for-12 start and has been receiving inconsistent at-bats anyway, so owners can leave him on waiver wires in the majority of leagues. He's not worth scooping up until he shows some life in his bat and on the basepaths again.

Twins | Danny Santana activated

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 12:32:43 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS/OF Danny Santana (hamstring) was activated from the disabled list Monday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: Santana will have a few avenues for playing time with Trevor Plouffe (intercostal) hurt, and Byron Buxton in the minors. As a rookie in 2014, Santana returned an impressive 70 runs, seven home runs, 40 RBI and 20 stolen bases with a .319/.353/.472 slash line through just 430 plate appearances. Santana is a nice grab in deep mixed leagues with the potential to help in shallower formats if he receives enough playing time.

Twins | Danny Santana to return Monday

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 11:46:32 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS/OF Danny Santana (hamstring) is set to come off the disabled list Monday, April 25. He's scheduled to play in three rehab games with Class A Fort Myers this weekend. Santana will be an option for manager Paul Molitor at third base when he returns with 3B Trevor Plouffe (intercostal) on the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Santana is a super-utility player for Minnesota that could see decent playing time at third base until Plouffe returns. Other than his speed, there's not much to hang your hat on with him, though, so he remains more AL-only fodder as a bench guy.

Twins | Danny Santana slated for rehab

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 17:10:37 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Danny Santana (hamstring) is expected to go on a rehab assignment with Class A Fort Myers Wednesday, April 20.

Fantasy Tip: Santana hasn't played since April 9, but even when he gets back, he's not someone to plug onto fantasy rosters right away. He was only 2-for-12 prior to going down with injury, and don't forget the extremely disappointing season he had a year ago. Santana has fallen considerably since his promising 2014 campaign.

Twins | Danny Santana heads to disabled list

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 06:09:19 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Danny Santana (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring Saturday, April 9. In a corresponding move, OF Max Kepler was recalled from Class AAA Rochester.

Fantasy Tip: Santana was a hit in 2014 with a .319/.353/.472 slash line and 20 stolen bases through just 101 games, but he's failed to find the magic since. He remains a stash candidate in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats, but in most leagues, you can replace him. Kepler's lack of at-bats projects to limit his fantasy value to deeper formats, too.

Twins | Byron Buxton, Miguel Sano out Saturday

Sat, 09 Apr 2016 14:59:57 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton and 3B/OF Miguel Sano are both out of the lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Ian Kennedy on Saturday, April 9. OF/SS Danny Santana will play in center for Buxton and bat second while OF Oswaldo Arcia will make his first start of the season in right field in place of Sano and hit fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton (2-for-14, nine strikeouts) and Sano (2-for-13, seven) have both come out of the gates slow, so most owners probably aren't going to have a problem with the day off. Santana and Arcia, who is celebrating his 24th birthday Saturday, can be left on waivers in most leagues for now, however, as both players are coming off unproductive 2015 seasons.

Twins | Eddie Rosario out of lineup

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 13:30:47 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Eddie Rosario is not in the starting lineup Friday, April 8. SS Danny Santana is starting in left field and hitting second against Kansas City Royals SP Yordano Ventura.

Fantasy Tip: Rosario has two hits in his first 12 at-bats of the year, with one double. Santana will often mix and match in the outfield and infield as a super-utility type. He offers some speed but not much else. He has a favorable lineup spot Friday, but he's not much more than a desperation cheap flyer in daily formats.

Twins | Byung Ho Park takes a seat

Thu, 07 Apr 2016 12:56:40 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Byung Ho Park is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 7. OF Miguel Sano is serving as the designated hitter and SS Danny Santana receives the start in right field and is batting second against Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez.

Fantasy Tip: Santana had a slash line of just .215/.241/.291 with no home runs and 21 RBI in 2015, so he won't be on anyone's fantasy radar, even in a desirable lineup position against a shaky starter today.
