Twins | Trevor Plouffe on paternity list

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 11:48:48 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe was placed on the paternity list Wednesday, July 29, and SS Jorge Polanco will be called up to join the team in a corresponding move. It's not set in stone that Polanco will return to the minors when Plouffe is back, according to manager Paul Molitor. SS Danny Santana has been struggling and hasn't started since the weekend. Polanco hit .284/.309/.352 with six doubles, six RBI and a stolen base in 22 games for Class AAA Rochester. His defense is a work in progress, as he had 24 errors in 83 minor league games.

Fantasy Tip: Eduardo Nunez started at the hot corner today for the Twins, and Miguel Sano (ankle) is healthy enough to play third base now, too, meaning Polanco is unlikely to have much fantasy value in the short term with Plouffe not expected to miss much time.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar starting against Bucs

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:04:58 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar will start at short and hit ninth in the order Tuesday, July 28, against the Pittsburgh Pirates and RHP Charlie Morton. SS Danny Santana comes out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitting .266 against right-handed pitchers this season, with 15 extra-base hits. FantasyScore owners can consider him for use in GPP tournaments.

Twins | Danny Santana not starting

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 11:06:46 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Danny Santana is not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi Sunday, July 26. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at shortstop and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Santana ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the next game or two. Nunez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting only .150 in limited playing time this month and should not be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Twins | Eduardo Escobar not playing

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 13:49:56 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Eduardo Escobar is not in the starting lineup Monday, July 6. SS Danny Santana is starting at the 6 and hitting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen.

Fantasy Tip: Santana ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has shown more power in his short career hitting left-handed and not right-handed. Plus, Chen is on an impressive run for the O's. Santana is an option to avoid at FantasyScore tonight.

Twins | Eduardo Nunez not in the lineup

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 08:37:25 -0700

Minnesota Twins 3B Eduardo Nunez is not in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers Sunday, June 28. SS Danny Santana will start at shortstop and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Nunez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) probably will return to the lineup in the near future. Santana has gone hitless since returning to the team and should not be a starting option in fantasy leagues.

Twins | Danny Santana batting ninth

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 10:20:31 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Danny Santana is in the starting lineup against Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza Saturday, June 27, batting ninth. SS Eduardo Nunez is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Santana ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is only batting .161 in 87 at-bats on the road this year and is just 1-for-6 against Garza in his career. He is not a great FantasyScore option this afternoon.

Twins | Byron Buxton to DL

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 07:32:29 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (thumb) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left thumb sprain Friday, June 26. SS/OF Danny Santana was recalled from Class AAA Rochester.

Fantasy Tip: Santana could platoon with Shane Robinson ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) in center, but neither are good options on FantasyScore right now. Stash Buxton on the DL universally.

Twins | Danny Santana sent down

Mon, 08 Jun 2015 05:46:45 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Danny Santana was optioned to Class AAA Rochester Sunday, June 7, and SS Eduardo Escobar will assume the bulk of the shortstop time. 1B Kennys Vargas will come up in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has done little to pull the trigger on FantasyScore with a .230-3-31 line.

Twins | Kennys Vargas recalled

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 15:28:40 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Kennys Vargas was recalled from Class AAA Rochester on Sunday, June 7. SS Danny Santana was sent to Class AAA in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: The Twins took a lot of people by surprise a few weeks ago when they optioned Vargas, saying he needed to cut down on his strikeouts. The team sacrificed some power, however, as Vargas was a good source of homers. Eduardo Escobar ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) will take over for Santana ($3,300, 6.6% of cap), who should be removed from FantasyScore consideration.

Twins | Danny Santana sitting out vs. Brewers

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 15:26:59 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Danny Santana is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 5. SS Eduardo Escobar is starting at shortstop and hitting eighth in the batting order against Milwaukee Brewers SP Kyle Lohse.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($1,600, 3.2% of cap), who is hitting .228 (33-for-145) with three home runs and 20 RBI, remains a low-end shortstop play on FantasyScore.
