Brewers | Milwaukee preparing to trade Lucroy?

Fri, 12 Feb 2016 15:44:53 -0800

The Milwaukee Brewers traded OF Khris Davis to the Oakland Athletics Friday, Feb. 12, in exchange for P Bubba Derby and C Jacob Nottingham.

Fantasy Tip: Milwaukee's youth movement/rebuild continues. Nottingham is a notable catching prospect with power that figures to be the Brewers catcher of the future if/when they trade Jonathan Lucroy. This trade likely opens up a starting job for Domingo Santana in left field. He had six homers in only 121 at-bats last year but struggles to make contact. Regardless, he's a big-time sleeper late in drafts with a guaranteed spot. Former Padres prospect Rymer Liriano and Kirk Nieuwenhuis could work their way into a platoon in the outfield. Liriano is the more intriguing deep mixed and NL-only gamble with more upside.

Athletics | A's acquire Khris Davis

Fri, 12 Feb 2016 15:33:11 -0800

The Oakland Athletics acquired OF Khris Davis from the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, Feb. 12, in exchange for P Bubba Derby and C Jacob Nottingham.

Fantasy Tip: Davis hit 20 bombs in his final 183 at-bats to end 2015. When healthy he's a candidate to approach 40 homers, although the move to pitcher-friendly O.co Coliseum isn't the ideal move. Still, he should see everyday playing time in left field and will be undervalued in the middle rounds. His arrival is bad news for Mark Canha and Coco Crisp.

Athletics | A's targeting Khris Davis?

Fri, 12 Feb 2016 15:16:55 -0800

The Oakland Athletics could be targeting Milwaukee Brewers OF Khris Davis in a trade.

Fantasy Tip: Davis will surely be undervalued in 2016 fantasy drafts despite hitting 27 home runs last year and 20 in his final 183 at-bats. A move to pitcher-friendly O.co Coliseum will be a hit to his overall value, but he has the power to clear fences anywhere. It's not out of the question that he could hit 30 homers in Oakland. Target him as a steal in the middle rounds.

Brewers | Khris Davis to play every day

Thu, 29 Oct 2015 17:10:22 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Khris Davis will be an everyday player in 2016, according to manager Craig Counsell.

Fantasy Tip: Davis was used in a platoon in left field with Gerardo Parra for much of the 2015 season and hit .247 with 27 home runs and 66 RBIs over 121 games. Despite being a right-handed batter, his batting average was 48 points versus righties (.260) than lefties (.212). Davis could reach 30 home runs and drive in 70-80 runs next year but expect his average to hover around the .250 mark.

Brewers | Khris Davis not playing

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 15:01:42 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Khris Davis is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 24. 1B Jason Rogers is starting in left field and is hitting cleanup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha.

Fantasy Tip: Rogers ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) in a nice run-producing spot in the batting order but is facing a tough matchup in Wacha. However, he is hitting a respectable .310 (22-for-71) with one of his three home runs against righties. Still, he's a low-end sleeper pick on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) could return to the lineup in the next few days. Rogers ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting .467 in September with one home run and four RBI and could a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Sat, 05 Sep 2015 15:02:37 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Khris Davis is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader with the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, Sept. 5. OF Shane Peterson is in left field and batting fifth against Reds SP Keyvius Sampson.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is merely out of the lineup to get him some rest. Peterson ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is hitless in his three September at-bats and has no fantasy value.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has four homers and nine RBI over his last four games, and he has nine homers and 22 RBI in August. He is taking advantage of regular playing time since Carlos Gomez was traded and is providing great production for the price at FantasyScore.

Brewers | Khris Davis homers twice

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 18:13:37 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers OF Khris Davis homered twice and drove in five runs against the Miami Marlins Wednesday, Aug. 19. It was his fourth multi-homer game this season and the fifth of his career.

Fantasy Tip: Davis ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has seven home runs and 19 RBIs during the month of August and merits consideration for FantasyScore lineups whenever the team is facing a right-handed pitcher.
