Reds | Anthony DeSclafani to return after break

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 15:21:58 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani (gluteus) is expected to miss only one turn through the rotation, and he will rejoin the rotation after the All-Star break, according to manager Bryan Price.

Fantasy Tip: DeSclafani ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) should be held onto in deep mixed and NL-only leagues. Raisel Iglesias ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) will come off the DL and start Saturday against the Miami Marlins. Iglesias, who had a 5.11 ERA but a 9.1 K/9 in four starts earlier this year, is a risk/reward option on FantasyScore tomorrow as your second pitcher against the offensively challenged Fish without Giancarlo Stanton.

Reds | Raisel Iglesias starting Saturday

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 13:38:37 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias (oblique) is starting against the Miami Marlins Saturday, July 11, instead of SP Anthony DeSclafani (gluteus). DeSclafani pitched through a glute strain during his last start.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) could be a sneaky No. 2 pitcher for FantasyScore players Saturday. The Miami lineup is much easier to navigate without slugger Giancarlo Stanton (hand), and Igelsias has a 2.91 FIP with a 9.12 K/9 through four starts and six appearances this season.

Reds | CIN adjusts rotation

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 17:38:26 -0700

The Cincinnati Reds have adjusted their starting rotation following the rainout Thursday, June 18, against the Detroit Tigers. SP Mike Leake will pitch Friday, against the Miami Marlins, SP Anthony DeSclafani will go Saturday, against the Marlins and SP Michael Lorenzen will pitch the series finale Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: All three Reds' starters carry sizable risk on FantasyScore, with that risk being elevated at the hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. With the Marlins in town, however, any of the three could be considered in GPP tournaments.

Cubs | Miguel Montero sitting

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 17:02:22 -0700

Chicago Cubs C Miguel Montero is not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani Sunday, June 14. C David Ross will start and is hitting seventh in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Ross ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is known more for his defensive skills, and with a .157 average for the year, he can be ignored at FantasyScore.

Reds | Anthony DeSclafani looks to go deeper

Mon, 11 May 2015 22:11:56 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani is the probable pitcher for Tuesday, May 12, against the Atlanta Braves. He has lasted only five innings in each of his past three outings, all losses, due to high pitch counts.

Fantasy Tip: DeSclafani should be avoided at $5,300 (or 10.6% of cap) until he starts to pitch with a little more efficiency.

Reds | Anthony DeSclafani has worst start

Fri, 01 May 2015 19:41:17 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani allowed four runs on four hits and walked five in five innings in a loss to the Atlanta Braves Friday, May 1.

Fantasy Tip: After throwing at least six innings in his first three starts of the season, DeSclafani ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has lasted just five innings in back-to-back starts. Hitters could be figuring him out a bit, and it might be smart to pass on the young pitcher at FantasyScore in his next start.

Reds | Anthony DeSclafani pitches well

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 23:00:29 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani (calf) worked eight scoreless innings in a win Monday, April 21, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He allowed just two hits and ran his scoreless innings streak to 15. He was hit in the calf in the fourth inning but was able to remain in the game.

Fantasy Tip: DeSclafani was hit by a batted ball but still able to continue and produce strong results. At just $3,500 (or 7.0% of cap) he is a steal for FantasyScore owners while going well.

Reds | Cincy announces rotation

Wed, 18 Mar 2015 11:22:38 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SPs Johnny Cueto, Mike Leake, Anthony DeSclafani, Jason Marquis and Raisel Iglesias will comprise the team's starting rotation to enter the regular season. SP Paul Maholm is competing for a bullpen spot.

Fantasy Tip: Cueto is really the only pitcher in this five that deserves heavy fantasy baseball attention as an ace for your fake staff. The others are all likely just NL-only targets, with DeSclafani and Iglesias possessing intriguing upside.

Reds | Anthony DeSclafani on rotation radar

Fri, 20 Feb 2015 15:31:52 -0800

Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani has been labeled as an inside-track candidate for one of the open rotation spots by manager Bryan Price. The Reds acquired DeSclanfani in an offseason trade that saw veteran SP Mat Latos moved to the Miami Marlins. "We got him in that deal because we targeted him as a priority to fill this role," Price said. "That in large part is why I have him ranked so high on the list of starter options for us."

Fantasy Tip: DeSclafani could land in late-round-flier territory for NL-only and deep mixed leagues, if he lands in the starting rotation. Currently, he isn't worth a draft pick in the majority of formats. It is a situation worth monitoring leading into the season.

Reds | Tony Cingrani a rotation favorite

Thu, 22 Jan 2015 10:31:15 -0800

Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani is considered a favorite for one of the final two spots in the starting rotation this season, according to manager Bryan Price. Price said SP Anthony DeSclafani is also a favorite for one of the starting jobs, but both pitchers will have to earn their spots.
